Do you agree with this statement? So if you a tank and looking at some speedrun guy who initiate the fight, will you continue your tank job or just taunt one mob and let your healer get mad? )

I don’t tank. But I stay with the tank during dungeons. Unless I’m with my own group. If it’s a pug group I expect the tank to move forward at which point I will follow.

Depends I guess. I voted before reading the post, and only thought of the "DPS taunts boss in the middle of a fight, then whines that he dies" scenario.

TBH I sometimes initiate fights before the tank (ok, ok, I do it constantly) :* , but that is in a situation where I can hold my own and I just do it because of expediency when it is obvious we´re just plowing through the dungeon.

Also check out post #12 in this topic, very informative:

As a tank it's my job to protect even the most annoying and self serving players.

That said, maybe it's just been ingrained in me over time, but I believe the tank should control the run. Who and when to pull. Where to fight.

When I'm not tanking I allow the tank to do this.

This game is designed in a way that lets people be in control of their fate. If you die while in a group, 99/100 times it's your own fault, due to impatience mostly.

If you run ahead, and pull it, you tank it until I get there, or die trying. How long you need to tank it depends on
    a) how far you went ahead
    b) how fast I am (I might legitly need a few seconds bc I checked sth in my inventory, brb, etc)
    c) how good you are at surviving :)
If you manage to solo the boss, I usually don't mind as long as I am not farming gear or need it for a pledge. I will take the taunt when I arrive, but don't complain if you eat dirt after 2 seconds fight bc I dared to quickly check who called me (which I usually tell the people in chat)

    I don't tank often, but I do get a bit peeved when someone runs ahead and messes with the pulls. I help out anyways, because... when I'm dps'ing I'm usually that person :D Though after tanking a bit, I have a better appreciation for the 'you pull it you kill it' point, so I'm trying to be better about it when playing on my DDs ^^;;

These days, the dungeon finder is nothing but this kind of player. I don't like skipping content, and I believe the tank should pull. I like fast runs, but I don't like the DPS pulling half the dungeon at once and getting mad when you don't play along. They get nasty and start calling you names if you don't do it. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten hate tells for leaving groups that are doing stupid stuff. CP 1350+ and they call me noob lol

Depends. In older, base game dungeons it doesn't really matter since adds and even bosses hit like wet noodles and go down in 30s if you have decent DPS so it's not really important if someone starts the fight and grabs aggro. You can run them with 4 DDs and do no death speed run hard mode. On farm runs you can basically run from boss to boss and AoE ult the adds that still have aggro right on the boss. But in veteran DLC dungeons the adds are capable of one hit killing 17K HP DD & Healers and even a non-blocking 35K+ HP tank. Especially the last 2 DLCs are "roll dodge or die" even for tank in some situations ex. vFL bone colossi, vMHK enraged Vykosa and even WW adds. Pulling aggro there by randomly attacking is plain stupid.

"You pull it, you tank it" is selfness in my opinion.

We all have a job to do and agro is the tanks main job above all.

For the most part a lot of use have run the same dungeons many times. No point in stopping to smell the roses. If someone says they are doing the quest then yes I will slow down and let them do it, even if they want to listen/read and take time to enjoy the quest as it maybe their first time doing it. If not then it's all hell is out run like the devil is on my back.

I expect everyone to do their job they queued for.

any dps punk that messes up my flow or steals my aggro will have to tank it.

    they wont.
    one shot inevitable.

i will have the pleasure of using the sitting in chair emote and enjoying watching them die.
i am a very spiteful tank to dps punks who think the show is all about them.

Well therein lies the differences between a bad tank, a good tank, and a great tank. A bad tank awkwardly stands around the mobs, heavy attacking stuff every now and then, maybe taunting a few. A good tank taunts most of the mobs and allows the dps to do most of the work. A great tank uses crowd control to gather the mob into the AOE's being used to nuke them down. Chains for DK, Silver Leash for other classes. The tanks speed depends on the speed at which they gather and control the mobs for the DPS and take the heat off the healer. Tanks that do zero crowd control (which is most of the pug tanks I run into) are slow, and thus prompts the DPS racing ahead most of the time. There is no need for the race if the tank works /with/ the DPS to group and nuke.

Tanks are not necessarily slow but it generally works better for them if the pace is not breakneck. They use a lot of stam and mag while tanking and very often are relatively low on both when the boss from one big fight dies. Since block negates stam regen, tanks generally have very low stam regen. Short story is that many tanks use the jog to the next fight to regen blue and green. Good healers will often drop shards right on the tank after a big fight to help. Sprinting is counterproductive for a tank between fights. I will jog to the next fight. If I feel pressure to ensure my blue and green are full before I get there I drink a tristat potion which feels rather wasteful when 15-20 seconds longer to get the next fight would save that potion.

As tank, I want to lead and will move as quickly as I reasonably can, trying to be sensitive to if anyone is lagging behind or needs quest objectives. As dps or healer, I want the tank to lead and that responsibility includes the authority to set the pace.

Even if there is a high CP person who can solo the place, it doesn't mean they are able to keep aggro on everything. As a tank, you should still be guarding your healer and anyone who might not be attempting to rush through. Keep the innocent alive. If that guy dies and all the enemies run loose, you still need to tank them to avoid a wipe.
