Midyear Mayhem Encore Event Confirmed Around The 10th

Will be my first Midyear event as I've not been playing ESO that long and I also thought I wouldn't touch the PvP site but I really do enjoy being in Cyrodiil and doing some raiding, quests etc.
Sure I get my *ss kicked sometimes as I mostly have PvE gear, but with a group is doable.
Is it unplayable, I would say no not for me, but is there lag? Absolutely, sometimes during a heavy fight it's stuck one or two seconds or if you shoot with your bow you're wondering when the arrow is going to take off.
You don't need to be a scientist what will happen if a big event is planned for it.
Let's hope they also use it to troubleshoot the performance.

    Um. One for each "faction"?

You know, that makes a weird sort of sense. The Aldmeri Dominion always seemed a little out of touch-- 3 mos. either ahead or behind its time. And the Pact? 6 mos. behind, at the very least.

No. I did pvp in WoW, on a pvp server, in a friend's guild. I hated it. I was there because the friend wanted me to try it. I did - I stuck it out for 9 months.

I HATE PVP. I'm not doing it ever again.

I never get this nor the salt of people fighting each other. All those years playing things like Mario Cart and Madden; all were PVP technically. And all were done against friends sitting right next to you as you had to use a split screen. I guess I just lived with it so dont know any better.

FWIW, people do know what they enjoy in games. There might be people new to the MMO genre who have no clue, but multi-game vets usually have a pretty good idea of what they like and what they don't. Those tend to be the majority of the aging MMORPG gaming population. <--sorry, jaded middle-aged me has heard the "Try it you'll love it" thing in at least three MMOs myself. I've tried it (aside from raiding), and I usually don't love it :D

I'm not a fan of PvP in this game, though I have enjoyed it in very small doses elsewhere (lowbie SWTOR, Shambala in SWL, WvW in GW2). So I'll be sitting this one out too and enjoying the emptier PvE maps (woo hoo!).

Just want to say also that someone who dislikes PvP isn't necessarily bitter or full of salt about the standard stuff you see complained about on these forums. They just don't like PvP. That's not salt-- it's a preference.

Personally I am really looking forward to the event. I have missed the summer event due to the long heatwave here in Europe. Gaming at 35°C and more just isnt fun. So doing another one in the winter is just what I have been waiting for. Cheers for doing that @ZOS_GinaBruno ! Hopefully the BG group finder will not buckle under the pressure ;-)

Look forward to it because I missed the event in June. Let's hope ZOS performs better this time than the Undaunted event.

@Aliyavana OP could you kindly provide the link to this announcement? I can't find it on ESO website lol.

Server performance is fine at the moment - certainly, the best its been in a long, long time. If you're having performance problems, instead of blaming lag etc, upgrade your rubbish ghetto connection, or your gear, or bin the console and buy a PC.

Can we hope for new PVP sets to be available at the Golden? For once an opportunity to actually do the old "buy/sell" from the Golden. It's been pretty rare recently, and people lowering the prices all the time at that.

Will surely do, though I'm on pc eu.
I'm very interested in how the performance will be when the event takes place.
Also wonder if the lag is purely missing server or bandwidth power or something in the code, probably somewhere in the middle.

This would be good if the event is to be twice yearly, one event for RoTW gear and the second event to cover all the older Cyrodiil sets.

Sorry. Didn't mean the people that dont like it. More the ones that do and get salty. Of course thinking about it; I generally rolled my friends in Goldeneye, but probably would get rolled by people online. That might have made me salty.

Sotha and Shor are relatively playable. Just sayin.

Aye, wait until the 10th of January though. I usually play these two campaigns specifically for the lower traffic and associated lag. Something has gone wrong (more wrong) since Murkmire though, with the lag creeping up until, for me it is around 350 ping there, when it used to be 250.

In the last 5 days I've seen those huge shiny patches of untextured ground starting to appear around sieges and, out in the countryside, I'll be galloping alone when I'm suddenly presented with Cyrodiil's loading screen for about 5 seconds. The fun part of this is when it pops back into Cyrodiil, I am sitting idly on my placid, stationary horse which I have to beat madly to get going again. Sooo, well it's not midyear but I think it is going to be Mayhem :s

Does bg count for midyear mayhem.
If not. Well thats too bad.
Not gonna enter zerodull unless if there is something I want at the golden vendor.

If I remember, it did in last year's Mayhem. I PvE but we jumped into BG's to have a laugh, get slaughtered and play PvP without lag. several of our better players actually had enough kills to get the Whitestrake's achievement. I got two, took Momento Mori to heart and died in true 'Police Academy' form.... many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many.......

P.S. Some of you out there have me to thank for that achievement :D

Have you pvped lately -- or ever? Again, at some point all the client side issues (connection, PC performance etc.) could be solved and you would still have lag, crashes and freezes. Everyone who actually pvps experiences those issues -- and that's people with potato PCs, high end rigs, consoles, 10 Mbit or fiber connections... it doesn't matter. The gamers' end of things only play a role until a certain point. After that it is ONLY the servers or the game that are to blame.

And we DO NOT complain about the event itself. Double AP is fun, getting more people into PvP is fun. But the event comes at a time when even the normal non-event server load makes the game unplayable, let alone having twice the influx of players.

Well, you get double AP from BGs during Midyear Mayhem. I don't recall from the PTS if there was a way to earn event tickets from BGs or not.

In last Midyear Mayhem event, BG was giving double AP so enjoy!

But now i will join. I will just sit while day in a keep sieging and healing people. I'm not even go out and fight.

On the one hand I'm glad for PvP'ers (especially those who don't like PvE at all), because they can get tickets just by doing their thing, on the other hand, the events are happening so close to each other that it's getting a bit tiring, and distracts from regular game activities. Still, I'm looking forward to seeing how it will be set-up, and also getting some AP saved for the Golden vendor :)

I am starting to agree that ZOS is getting a little drunk on the idea of the never-ending party.

People don't have to participate in every event, but they are picking events that showcase forum reported problems with their game, and they stick to those events, come hell or high water, like a pit bull with a chew toy.

While I appreciate their candor ("Look, our game is buggy, laggy, and will drop you, but if you can stay connected for a few minutes, you might have fun!"), at some point I have to wonder whether the person who is planning events like this works for a competitor studio.

Either that, or this whole Cyrodiil Lag and Performance Thing is just a handful of people whining and almost everyone else is having no problems at all.

Sheesh, you people and your talk of nothing but Cyrodiil. I VERY strongly prefer Battlegrounds, for Alliance Point gaining purposes to get further progress toward those Dyes in the 40's of Alliance War Ranks. Currently about 39 and 3/4ths...really want Overlord Purple someday. Title would be fun too, heh.
