I feel sorry for the people that bought through Steam.

Something is fishy, and I ain't talking about Lilmoth Garlic Hagfish.
Well, makes me happy. Seems like ESO still has a fair share of years to come.
I’ve seen many of my MMO characters die when the servers were shut down, so I hope this doesn’t happen anytime soon here.
I feel sorry for the people that bought through Steam. But, caveat emptor. A little reading on the forums there would have given them a heads up about the issues using the Steam client.
Don't worry, Pantheon will hopefully steal a lot of ESO players

You can buy it on Steam, but register it on Bethesda's page. Then you download the launcher, install the game through it and play outside of Steam. I still have it in my Steam library with 0 hours played (since 2016)
I hope it still works like that.

If they add the direct purchases (including the bot accounts) ... would be easy to be among the Top 100 anyway. The exact placement of the tile could be paid for advert, as mentioned.
it is also nominated for over 25k simultaneous players, but every time i look at Steam stats it has ~16k players.
i don't think Steam counts players to a game outside of Steam too

But does steam get an kickback if you buy crowns? If so its obvious why you have to play it trough steam.anitajoneb17_ESO wrote: »I question the methodology of those rankings when I see free-to-play games in the top grossing titles. It means that it's not game sales nor hours played, but overall income generated. As such, no surprise to see a game like ESO with units sold, crowns sold and membership fees added together.
Even with this restriction, it means ESO is healthy, and that's good news for everyone. I'm not surprised : the game is thriving with activity and players ingame look very hooked and happy.

And yes the only downside of this is all the issues with steam login. If some wanted to get into ESO I would strongly recommend not buying the steam version even if cheaper.

Doesn't Steam take a cut of all sales in games sold through the platform?
I've heard that given as a reason why some games aren't on Steam, the developers don't think the extra promotion is worth losing money.
