That's all anyone can ask for, that sometimes we post something worth replying to. So thanks!.AlexDougherty wrote: »liquid_wolf wrote: »AlexDougherty wrote: »Perfect arguement for why the Disagree button was removed, lol.
Most people who disagree but don't post are simply afraid to actually put any time and effort into something that might get pulled apart by others.
It is a fear. A fear of being ridiculed and mocked... Of looking foolish and even of being wrong.
But a button? It gives them a way out. An easy escape from everything they are afraid of.
Fair enough, it can be quite hard being mocked.
But as so many keep saying, telling someone that 395 people disagree with them, but not telling them why isn't helpful. We need people to give feedback, why do they disagree?, could a minor tweek save the idea?, did they just miss the joke?
Also we get too many who won't read more than a couple of sentences, who won't bother to think, and disect an idea. As you say a Disagree button gives them an easy way out, that's the problem. It's far too easy just to press a button, if they truely disagree, let them work to say so.
I will always respect someone who puts the effort in, even if I totally disagree with the idea/opinion. I don't have the same respect for someone who just ticks a box/pushes a button.
Ok, but you generally put some thought into your comments. They are...sometimes...worthy of reply :-p and expressing why we agree/disagree with your points.
Ok, that could work, provided you also limit how many Disagrees a day you ca post, as well as how many per eprson. But some people - like myself, I'm sure - just post nonsense or that "l2p" BS we see from time to time that doesn't demand a careful response. Just a "disagree" button. And some people troll in a not amusing way - these don't deserve a real reply. Yet a quick "disagree" would be nice. Or a glare - I personally love the idea that we could press a "-_-" button. Or a "damn, you made me read this and I'll never get my time back" button.
But, yeah, sure, I get that tons of internet people will take advantage of it - so we need the lockout, the "you cannot give this person more 'disagrees' until 10 days' or so.
Or they could make a new internet meme by producing an unrelated button that people use - like an icon of cherries or a horse or something - for the purposes of disagreeing.
Or we don't have one and we can all just continue to use lol b/c that's ambiguous and we have no other solution. I think I will now lol your post. Just for fun. Feel the pain!
