I'd love a togglable 'Story Mode' that forces you to do the story in a chronological, linear order

I could get behind this. Make it toggle at character creation kinda like choosing to play the tutorial or not. Though if you decide to do it does it lock the character in that mode, or if you change your mind do you need to reroll?

I love that One Tamriel gives you the freedom to go where you want and do content in any order you choose, or any order you come across it.

But I'd also love to have the option to turn on a tracker which tells you the intended order for the next story. Something which either shows which main/guild/zone/etc quest comes next in the overall story or shows you where to go to find it if you haven't already picked it up.

IMO it wouldn't need to force you to do it in that order, just show you what the intended order is so if you want to follow the story you can.

As Monica says in Friends - 'Rules help control the fun!'

In this case, I think it would really help - I think One Tamriel is a great idea, but from a linear story point of view, it's kind of a mess.

My accountant told me to invest my money in bonds. So I bought 100 copies of Goldfinger.

Unicorns and cannonballs, palaces and piers
Trumpets, towers and tenements, wide oceans full of tears.
Flags, rags ferryboats, scimitars and scarves
Every precious dream and vision, underneath the stars.

I think it'd be great. It's really a mess for newer players who want to follow the linear chronology.
