Started out as a beta player, so a lot of my early gameplay was focused on mechanics, as was discussion on the forums. I also play nearly everyday so I developed a spaced practice learning curve to the game. Finally I pick up some refining tips from the forums, guildmates, and even the occasional YouTube video.
These very ESO forums, accepting and learning from constructive criticism given by my elder ESO guild members, Deltia's gaming, Trial and error, identifying my weaknesses and learning how to overcome. The list goes on...
Just playing the game I figured out on my own. Making my characters better I initially learned from people like Deltia. I dont have a lot of time to do my own testing of things so I do pay attention to what other people are saying in terms of when things change if something is now super bad. But I dont necessarily care to try and make the very best character known to man. I'd rather just go with what's working for me and have fun

Started out by watching youtubers like sypher, leftylucy etc. The rest was trial and error. No matter how much I practice, there is still room to get better, so even after so many years I can't say I did learn to play. I'm still learning to play.

I haven't. Still a zerg-surfing scrub and only engage in combat when we outnumber the enemy at least 3:1. Don't use food or pots and absolutely refuse to siege.
I also don't use a back bar as it is just too confusing to switch between the two.

I learned by just playing. I started this game by playing in "non-vet" pvp, good old days of bwb. Joined a guild in there, and since I hate disappointing people i put 100% effort into staying alive and killing, no chill mode lol. After i got decent 1v1 i joined the dueling scene (which wasn't a joke back then!). Needless to say, I got my ass HANDED to me, so I asked the people who beat me why I lost. I started playing every class in the game to get a feel for their strengths and weaknesses. Eventually I started to teach people to play the game, and "noob stomping" them over and over helped me perfect my killing. Once they got better, it gave me someone to fight against that was about my skill level, and so dueling each other dragged both of us up the skill ladder. Skip to today and I learn by experimenting with sets and dueling those deemed the "best" in the camp I play in (sotha sil, PC, na)
Found a maxed out cp guy when I was at 300, Berserrg, and he dueled me probably close to 200 times in a week initially. Maintained his build the first week so my growth could be measured. Started off being destroyed, into lasting forever, into almost being able to kill him, to winning occasionally, to winning half the time (after a month of dueling), to winning most the time against his DK (2 months).
Helped me master the rotation with magdk and taught me positioning. Learned to fight consistently being stunned every 6th second and immobilized nearly every 3 seconds after the stun. And I in turn learned how to perfectly time CCs. The moment I stepped into open world I could 1vX pugs no problem, after having been one.
If it wasn’t for Berrserrg, I’d still be a pug and have zero 1vX content.

Sarcasm is something too serious to be taken lightly
I was born with the wrong sign
In the wrong house
With the wrong ascendancy
I took the wrong road
That led to the wrong tendencies
I was in the wrong place at the wrong time
For the wrong reason and the wrong rhyme
On the wrong day of the wrong week
Used the wrong method with the wrong technique
In fact, I have to learn to play again after each patch...

Primarily just by playing the game! Mistakes are made, of course (gonna delete and restart my main when I get back) but I think learning on the job works really well! Sometimes it can be embarrassing and awkward but it's usually worth it. When you've got specific questions you can look up answers or ask them in-game or on the forums.
As cheesy as it sounds, most important thing is to enjoy yourself and be respectful (as much as you can, so many trolls.)
