ESO Billing FORCED me to cancel my sub-Won't resub until myself & others get our free 30 days

metaldrummer1962b14a_ESO
I love the game, but since I did not get my free 30 days, even after providing my CC, which ESO demanded in order for me to play AND charged me the full monthly amount....well uh...I cancelled my subscription, and will only renew in May, if ESO corrects their mistakes and credits myself and others who are owed their free 30 days.

I was a pre-order customer directly from the ESO website.

If you supplied the information they requested AND they charged you, then 1) read the first topic on the page, and go through their support, and 2) you are burning through your 30 free days right now.

Even though they were totally upfront a valid payment method was required to set up a subscription which was required to get the 30 days, they are bending over backwards to help you people out and allowing you access anyway if you simply read the top post and contact support. This is how you treat them?

I sure hope OP comes back to this post with a big fat apology to ZOS once they take care of him.

When he (like many others who spent the most money) has to wait 3+ days before regaining access to his gameplay, effectively losing the early access perk he paid extra for, he doesn't owe Zenimax f&*k-all!

He straight up SAID he provided his card info, and WAS charged. Learn to read, troll. Stop trying to invalidate other people's problems just because YOU aren't personally experiencing them.

It isn't 30 free days. Unlike the early access, you have paid for that time and they are bound by law to honour it (and compensate you for any delays which are their fault).

It is 30 free days, bound by law? You payed for the game, you got the free time as a common courtesy and standard for MMO:s.

Regarding the payment charge, it's all a validation to make sure the information you posted is correct. For people that have a brain, bank days are usually 1-3 days so worrying now doesn't make any sense, check back at the end of this week.

I don't care, so they took £9 quid or $15 dollars or didn't, I have not even bothered to check. To busy playing the game. It may be they didn't make it clear that they would do this, thus leaving a small minority with no game time and a game that they cannot play. Yes the small print was on the web site or the back of the box, but people in their eagerness skip such things. Arcon, you paid for the game, whether it be a physical copy or a digital one, what you didn't pay for was the "FREE" 30 days. That's free. But and its a big But, to achieve the 30 days free you first have to have a Subscription to gain acces to the game, from which you at some point would get 30 days free. I may be wrong, but that's the way I read it on the information. Maybe they had to be a bit more clear on the issue. I feel bad for you, cos im really enjoying my time in the game, and im sure you would have too.

Its not "free", its included in purchase price.

Charging the full sub amount as a hold for card validity is a jerk move and essentially charging for that first month as many wont have the hold released for weeks. That hold can stay for 30 business days. Thats 30 days not counting weekends.

Typically holds like this are $1. Not full price. Im glad I didnt do a 3 month like I planned.

If you cancel your sub, there's no chance of getting your 30 days. How about you calm down, contact Zenimax (like has been stated by Zeni staff many times) and let them sort it. Throwing a blind unreasonable fit and being totally irrational won't help anyone (including you)

First off, I love this game so far, it's truly something else and I'd continue to pay good money to play because it deserves so BUT the manner in which this company is handling the marketing affairs is disturbing in my opinion (and each day im learning Zenimax doesn't really care for one's opinion).

Anyway, my post isn't about that, I'm not just another guy whining about my hard-worked money and blablabla, it's about the marketing system which is bluntly DISGRACEFUL - I mean, cmon.. I'm paying upfront for the game and 30 days of it (im not calling those 30 free because, like someone pointed out early, they are not free, we payed for them) and then asked to activate the account by adding a subscription which supposedly doesn't substract from my account, OK..sure, no problem, I do that.. - but then I find out they do charge me. Like wtf , really ? this is something like.. you go to a store, you buy something , you take it home, try and open the package but find out it's locked, you call the store , they tell you need the key but if you want the KEY to the already bought item, you need to have MORE money to open something that you own. Then they tell you, nah..don't worry we dont actually take your money we just wanna make sure you have it, just in case you need more KEYS in the future..ok, sure, whatever..I guess I can live with that. - but then SURPRISE, they go in your pocket and take it like it's already theirs.

Sadly this is about honoring your part of the deal and whoever designed this marketing strategy should be ashamed because it's ruining this gem of a game.

Actually, prepaid time doesnt expire when subs are cancelled. I regularly cancel game subs after payment processes so I dont get a recurring charge when money is expected to be tight. That way I can wait a few days for payday to show up.

My sub is prepaid. I give them 15 bucks, I get 30 days of service. Its like when you pay for most services like this.

I took it to mean that canceling the subscription and refusing to play means his pre-paid time is going to tick down while he is throwing a tantrum and that they wont give it back because he already got it and wasted it crying.

I'm assuming this has only happened to a few people, because i bought the pre-order standard edition digital, and i know my 30 days are included in that package, i didn't however set up my subscription on the day of release although i was still was able to play the game, i actually decided to set that up the next day, got the confirmation email.

I have checked my bank account since reading this post, but i have not been charged any subscription fees, as you can see from the pic below my ESO account shows when my payment is due, and how many free days i have left (censored lol).

excuse me? "leaving a small minority" you do know that half of us who are willing to pay cant because our accounts dont like pre-authorizations? or how about those who bought the game because ZoS promised Game cards from the get go and have failed to provide them? its a MUCH LARGER group then you might think, and as more people remove themselves from the game due to stupid policies from ZoS or the amount of little bugs people are having in the game past level 15 due to their beta weekends not letting anyone go past that point. in the end, ZoS will be left with a small group of players who are not giving them enough money to even pay back the initial costs of the game, let alone keep the game afloat, so it will go FTP and the rest of you will leave.

I have to wait a little bit longer to set up my subsciption but I am not at all unhappy with zenimax. Dark Age of Camelot, World of Warcraft, and Lord of the Rings Online all did something similar when they first came out. LOTRO, STO, and SWTOR are all free to play now and frankly they all are nowhere near as much fun as ESO.

I played LOTRO for over seven years and their customer service and treatment of players ranges from tolerable to abysmal, to say nothing about how bad their in game content is post Helm's Deep....

You could be dealing with Mythic, Turbine/Warner Brothers, or the IRS. Are there problems with the game and billing? Yes there are. Are they attempting to fix them? Yes they are and I for one am content to be in the loop for now.
