This game is LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE!

Trials and skin runs have been a nightmare for me for the last couple of weeks. The lag and the inability to use any skills on my bar (including block) has dropped my desire to actually play the game. I just show up every Wednesday for Vmol with my group.

Edit: I wouldn't say it's unplayable, but it's just not enjoyable anymore.

This is literally old news. I logged in after a while yeasterday. Joined a party. Was 46 in que. Got dc when entering cyro. Waited in que again. Got into cyro 10min after login at 22:00 only to find my mates logging out because the lag made the game unplayable. I didn't even bother to check. Vivec eu as usual.

So i asked my other mate how is sotha? Turns out it was as bad as vivec.

Zos debuffed me so hard that i just pressed quit.

Yesterday. I wanted to play a little. I removed all my addons from my folder except Ability Duration Reminder and the Arkadius guild roster update block.

I managed to do a dps parse. I only did 30k, which is 4k lower than usual, because some of my lights were mediums, and some abilities had delays. So I was kind of confident, last time I did a parse, the game crashed as the skeleton died.

I ported to belkarth, and started forming a group for nSO. I still miss a VO belt to replace briarheart. I found people, without crashing! And when the group was full, I ported in, and the loading screen took less than 30 seconds! And then we completed the run, with minor delays and abilies not firing for me. I did not get my loot, but I got all the TFS someone needed, even with divine trait on some pieces. And then I disconnected. I mean, I left the game by my own will!

It's not a joke. I was truly happy. I'll go back to farming, but vHRC will probably be better for a VO belt. If I manage to get my hands off Smash Ultimate.

I have the feeling its getting worse, especially since Murkmire dropped on PC. I notice a lot of lagspikes and a FPS drop from 60 to 30/40 in Alinor and Vivec City. Yesterday, PC/NA, even in my Home, i had lag from 150 to 999+ jumping wildly. Its sad, i played most Days 10+ hours, now maybe 3 to 4 hours and i stopped promoting the Game to others, i cant anymore. In the Longrun ZOS is losing Money this Way, the only Way it hurts them. Im mostly Homebound on a long term sicknote, so, to be so frustated that i not even find solace in the one Game i have a Community i care deeply about. Nothing will change right now sadly, as the current Team, it looks like, has only $$$ in there Eyes and not the Heart and Minds to deliver a Game where we, the Players, feel happy to spend our Money on nice Things. You know, i would spend more Money in this Game if i would feel like a fellow Gamer not a Cash Cow that needs to be milked. Well, i still hold Hope and start my first Round ESO for the Day, if i get angry because i get a endless Loading Screen by logging in, i just play something else.

Over 1/2 the day I can't connect to ZOS server and sometimes it says "account does not exist" for hours. I don't always have bad lag in the game, but when I do...I just log off. Always seems to happen when the servers are congested, how coincidental...

Care to post a traceroute to the server at the time when you are having those issues then? There are many reasons that could cause your problem that are nothing to do with your machine or the game servers. Your connection goes through multiple other connections before you reach the data centre and a problem at any one of those will mess your connection up.

Actually the definition was officially changed in the dictionary so that the word means both "literally" and "virtually", so they are using it correctly because it's entirely meaningless now.

Charles Dickens and Mark Twain both used "literally" figuratively. I doubt this started with millenials.

Lump me in with both of these.

Not exactly tho, cuz today and yesterday was maybe three hours divided between them and i feel even more strongly than that about LITERALLY.

I seriously wish the original poster better luck and many hours of enjoyment in those other games they likely find more to their liking.

That's cute some of you think it must be our crappy computers or connections. There are 10 pages on the topic of lag by Oceanic players......so you're thinking we all must suck at life as every single Oceanic player must have crappy PC's and internet?
I have a high end spec computer, and I have a very good internet connection. Online gaming will always have some kind of lag for us, but we can deal with that. This game has lag spikes where even the simple action of harvesting can take almost 10 secs.
But just some of the attitude here goes to show why nothing gets done about it. If YOU don't experience lag, it must be us....the whole damn Oceanic countries, every single one of us....us with our crappy consoles PC's and internet connection.....sure...we're the problem.

    So stupid!

The lag experienced by Oceanic players is nothing to do with the servers, it's to do with their distance from the servers and the network inbetween, as well as - according to some Oceanic players at least - their ISPs.

It seems from this forum that most if not all Oceanic players have serious performance issues with the game, which is not the case with other players from the USA and Europe. It's unlikely therefore to be down to either the servers or the the players' hardware. The likelihood is that their location and ISPs are material factors.

Like you no doubt, I wish you could get more local servers which would go a long way to resolving these issues, but it would seem likely that that isn't going to happen, probably because although there may or may not be a significant number of Oceanic players in the overall scheme of things, the fact is that they are spread across three platforms so that the resulting three local servers would be inadequately populated and not commercially viable.

Then explain how a year ago when I last played this game I could play with minimal lag? Both my husband and I subscribed early this week to play ESO again, and the difference in the ping spikes was huge. Last year, we weren't even on fibre and my computer hadn't been upgraded, yet we could both play comfortably with the occasional lag with little to no problem.

Playing this week I have my husband teleporting randomly around the place as we are questing together, random DC's, I can barely get off spells, Harvesting takes forever...and I can assure you - all of this was not happening when we last played the game. Something has changed which has caused the frequent lag spikes.

I understand what you are saying, and yes, we in Oceanic often have it bad, but it was never this bad when we last played. We could do Vet dungeons and trials with little issues, now neither of us want to even attempt one because of the how unplayable it has become.

Ping spikes in my HOUSE! weapons bug where they swap bars. Login to cyrodill dc. geeze then they ae joking about this crap in the patch notes! WTF! I pay MONEY for THIS!

Sadly the joke is on us. We don't leave. We still pay money. Why would Zenimax ever change? They will only change if we do. Since we don't they will not either.
Not my quote but I love this saying

I dunno, I had the day off today so I was able to play for about 4 hours without any problems. Even did some pve quests in Cyrodil with no disconnects or lag.

Of course, before I reinstalled windows on a clean reboot (I hadn't done it for a couple of years) I couldn't play for 10-20 minutes without a crash. Just saying.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

My main toon WAS a tall and foxy redhead - now she has been gamma-irradiated and has green skin and black hair. 3 other characters I only use for writs. Can't be bothered to create multiple toons - EXCEPT now my WW is getting spooled up for Cyrodiil - Blood For The Pact! IRL cranky sometimes redhead chick at large in Las Vegas, NV

One possible answer would be the way you are now routed through Akamai to the server, assuming you're on a NA server, another might be the way Oceanic ISPs are routing through the network generally.

Customer-Centric companies are completely destroying their competition in many fields already (Uber, Amazon etc.) I just hope that more gaming companies will realize this soon and get us away from the releases of unfinished games that are then just kept alive with bare minimum of effort. ESO to this day lacks incredibly basic features and while the game has come a long way since that terrible release it won't ever be "finished" unless they invest a massive amount of money (which they obviously won't). All they do is release half assed systems like housing as new cash grabs while just doing the bare minimum to keep the game running.

Ah, but the definition wasn't officially changed until 2013. Dickens and Twain were both misusing it. ;)

Not necessarily. There are lots of ways that it could be unplayable other than not being able to log in. For example, you may be able to log in but find the lag is so bad that your commands either don't work or have so much of a random delay that they may as well not work at all.

I agree that the OP is probably exaggerating out of frustration though.

The op JUST cancelled plus and probobally onl y gonna login to destroy all my stuff then uninstall. this game is a steaming turd!

Have you looked that this thread that may actually provide a temp solution to mitigate the problems? You may want to look at it before you destroy your stuff.
