You know, it's really too bad that they changed the definition of literally so that it is now a literally meaningless word.
    LITERALLY. UNPLAYABLE.
You're able to log in, therefore, the game is indeed playable.

Not necessarily. There are lots of ways that it could be unplayable other than not being able to log in. For example, you may be able to log in but find the lag is so bad that your commands either don't work or have so much of a random delay that they may as well not work at all.

I agree that the OP is probably exaggerating out of frustration though.

I just came back from about a 7 month break last week. I wish I could tell you to take a break, and that it would help. However, I really cant. I instantly noticed the game is worse now than when I had left. Someday perhaps ZoS will get their ducks in a row, and fix this train wreck. Personally, I'd rather see them start over, and do a complete reboot like FFXIV did. I have a feeling their code is just a bunch of bandaids that have bandaids. As a developer, I almost feel sorry for them.

dont feel sorry for be4thesda//zenimax they asked for it. they lack of professionalism and the fact that they refuse to suport players and actualyl give somethign worth all this money is just a riffle shot in the balls. they shoudl deserve another public law suit filed against them from the crowd of ESO just like they got for FO76

Don't listen to the people who say they have no issues. We know that the performance in this game can affect a lot of people horribly while some others not at all. We saw that with the huge lag debacle about a year or so ago that was supposed to have been a bad node near to the ZOS servers or something. Tons of players could literally not play and still some people had no issues at all. Plenty of us who feel your pain. You can do what I did, which is to scale down your ESO time a bit to avoid frustration, cancel your sub and deal with the small inconveniences, and wait to see if it gets better. It's annoying to have less storage space but its very doable, and it feels a lot less like you're being screwed when you're not paying for a game with horribly inconsistent performance. Im honestly less annoyed and stressed IRL lol. This game is frustrating af in terms of how its delivered. I know thats not an ideal solution, but hey, ESO for all its wonderful aspects, is not an ideal game.

I played two veteran DLC dungeons today with virtually no lag or glitches honestly.
Welcome, Moon-and-Star, to this place where destiny is made.

I play healers or DPS often for vet dungeons and trials (NA, CP810+). I play mostly elves or Argonians.
I primarily play Damage-Based stuff in PvP, but occasionally I'll play something tanky or got the heals.
I also love gaining more knowledge both metaphysical and mundane regarding TES lore.

I also occasionally role-play, but I prefer playing the game.

It's more a question of tolerance, really. Some of us can get by ok with 250 ping or more. (Heck, for some 250 is a good day.) For others anything more than single digits is cause to start a riot.

If I was always at 250 ping I'd be very happy, but bouncing from 750 to 999+ is beyond a joke. This is just doing normal questing too, not pvp. Those of us in Oceanic suffer lag frequently, most of the time we can deal with it, but in this game....this is beyond being able to just deal with it. It is virtually unplayable. I am so mad at myself subscribing again with ESO..maybe I should just cut my losses and leave. Arggggh.

Ping spikes everywhere, DC after Dc in cyrodill, now can’t connect to server...and ZOS is JOKING ABOUT IT IN THE PATCH NOTES! They ain’t gotta worry about me giving them A PENNY more. And like an IDIOT I almost bought Fallout 76. It ain’t bashing if it’s true. It can’t be bashing if ZOS is laughing at work about it. The performance in this game is soooooo bad

How bad the game is for you depends on three things:

    1) How much you pay attention. For example i notice bugs and glitches and lag spikes, etc all the time. My wife on the other hand is pretty oblivious to such things and only really notice when it actually slaps her in the face. So it would be like me noticing potholes in the road and her only noticing if we drive off a cliff.

    2) What you do and where you go in the game. If you are just running around some base game zone picking nodes or running quests or chatting, etc you probably are not going to see many issues. If you are going to vivec, alinor, or the capitals( especially the undaunted areas) then you might experience pretty drastic issues. You probably wont have many issues when you weapon swap fighting a delve boss but in a dungeon, trial, BG, or Cyro you might find it very frustrating when you tap the button for your first ability on back bar and it cast the ability on front bar instead. So you slowly and deliberately swap weapons instead of the fluid motion it is suppose to be between abilities. Really messes with your timing. WS is so messed up i try to play without it most of the time.

3)Your machine and your connection. As much as i would love to blame ZOS for all ESO problems ultimately the problems often lie in things that are outside their realm of control such as your ISP and your system. Just because you meet minimum system requirements doesnt mean its a good idea to run the game on that machine. Your machine can make up for a lot of issues the game is causing( such as memory leaks), if its a high end machine. The higher end the machine the less problems you will incur because the machine will be able to handle many of those client issues without you even noticing. However if your using a lower end machine, when there is a glitch it is a big problem because the machine is already trying hard to deal with the normal game. Throw a few complications in there and it just falls on its face. ( never go cheap on electronics, its not worth it in the long run)

Some people might almost never experience any issues in this game while others may have constant issues every time they try to login.

Did you not say that you are stuck in a blizzard? Like when you were double posting yesterday?

Soon it's gonna be 3 threads in a row :p

A little disappointed I'm not looking at a third thread right now.

If the gamed WORKED we wouldn’t be in the forums, and I for one would miss out on your comedy skills...such as they are...

I work with the material I've got. Also, it's not like I'm trying to light you up. It sucks, I know, but it also kinda suggests your internet may be a mess right now.

Maybe I am stuck in a blizzard. Lol

I love how people don't hesitate to blame the game for even their own crap connection ^^

I was in the same boat as the OP, with severe issues with game performance, so I decided to take a peek at the Tech Support forum. After reading a couple of threads I decided to check for a driver update for my low-end video card (GTX 650) and follow ZOS’ procedure for flushing my DNS, and was surprised to see a pretty big improvement in my game performance. Before, huge zerg battles in Vivec would cause me huge problems with connectivity and frame rate, and now I have problems only when certain infamous ball groups are running (which apparently almost everyone experiences).

I’m on PC/NA so maybe the OP doesn’t have the options I have to try to make things better, but I just wanted to put my experience out there in the hopes that other players may benefit.

The game has a lot of problems, but sometimes I've found connection issues are due to addons making it worse. Make sure you run Minion daily as they can cause conflicts even without an update. I'm with you on playing less and less. Bought another game and have been playing it a bit more than ESO recently. Check your addons for when you do play. It might help out with connection issues outside of Cyrodiil at least. Inside Cyrodiil, especially during primetime is hopeless. I dont even bother trying to pvp during primetime anymore. I also avoid running in ball groups because the lag gets so bad. Haven't ran with my pvp guild in about a month for this very reason. No point in trying to play in a group when ping is constantly spiking to 500+.

Even with this there can be aspects of our connection that can be intermittent.

While it is not likely the same issue the OP had, my internet connection would drop for a second. Not long enough for the modem/router to lose connection but long enough for the game to disconnect from the server. As it turns out my actual internet connection was clean, sort of. The digital conduit that is created to carry the signal was what had the noise and was collapsing.

It was odd but a case in point that there is plenty of things that can go wrong between our machines and the servers.

Believe me I know. I play with 270 on a good day. In the last couple of weeks it’s been more like 350-450. And I know many others have been experiencing similar things. And yes it does get to the point where you can really play.
