Server Maintenance...

The only thing that worries me is the message states this is a ‘small patch’ if the servers are down for hours doing a small patch God (or your chosen deity) help us it will be down for days with a large one. :D

ZoS works on a patch to fix some things, so servers come down to apply fixes, and people complain.

You can't have it both ways people. Either you want them to fix things or you don't.
But since I've sure most of you want bugs fixed it seems silly to whine and make these kinds of threads when things are being fixed.

Also NA server is indeed still online.

You totally missed the point, maintenance is great, love it, the problem and reason of the post, is they have a problems with the time they performing maintenance.
No matter what time they do a maint, SOMEONE will be inconvenienced. So no, I don't think I missed any point. I think some people just need to accept the things they can't change instead of acting as if the world is ending every time something happens that may not have been exactly what they wanted.

Unfortunately you have missed the point, it is an EU server that is being taken down when most ppl play instead of a time where a few ppl will have the time to play.

If you are having problems with understanding this i presume you work for Zenimax.

Agreed, do the maintenance but if you miss your target time today leave it, we can live with some bugs more so than no game AT ALL, take the server down from 12am BST or whatever, as long as it is after EU peak times...this is not the US server...Also WTF is it with posting so late and letting people know 30min prior to the shutdown its going down...and another thing, can't you folks put the patch up the moment your servers go down? so we can start downloading it already? I mean not everyone has super fast internet connections, we can use the head start so when the server is up we can just log in...come on...you folks are not reinventing anything all the trial and errors are out there, this is blatant disregard for your supports, there is no such thing as you didn't know, no excuse will suffice mmos have been out there long enough to at least mitigate this sort of thing...please

Thing is, this is no "we are fixing stuff", it is a SCHEDULED maintenance. You can schedule it to some other timezone. I should be playing on the NA server because it is still up - during EU primetime. I dont mind downtimes when they fix something, if it would be " we got this thing fixed" but it is not, thease are genarl fixes they have made and have had ready for some time. No reason to not start updating in 6 hours when most EU would be asleep. Now they make downtime from 6pm to 9pm. Aka. everyone who works office hours in europe are ***.

I do agree with maintenance. Tells us that their working on fixing stuff we report
I do wanna see broken quest bugs resolved.

I am not sure that bug will ever get fixed. This was happening all through beta, reported all through beta and there was a number of times that it was stated as being fixed for certain quests. But it still exists. The question I have is, if this is happening on a lot of quests then there is some fundamental underlying issue that needs to be resolved to squash this for good.

So I think there is something wrong on a low level that can effect any quest and it won't be completely fixed until they find that root cause.

So I would not get too optimistic about that being fixed. Just trying to set your expectations.

I must say I tend not to post on these types of discussions, however it does seem like a really silly time to do a maintenance , I get that it is needed but why not wait until early morning or mid day to do it .

I think it is you who have missed the point and its clear that you've chosen to be upset and that is your choice, albeit a almost comically slanted choice, but a choice none the less.
So I wish you, and others like you the best of luck with your anger and unwillingness to see anything from anyone's perspective but your own.
If you really understood anything you'd see that pushing out a patch sooner rather than later regardless of playtime interruption is better than having people experience issues with the game while sitting on a solution.
    Have a good life :)

I have to agree with the OP regarding the EU servers. Of course, I greatly value your effort to improve our gaming experience!

But people like me can "rarely" afford to play much (attending college and working full-time). The afternoons (from 3pm-6pm CET) are the only time I can play TESO. I would be very happy if the scheduled maintenance times for the EU servers could be shifted to, for instance, 3am.

    Cheers!

Sure someone will always be affected but it should not affected people playing on a server called eu(maintenance times should be in times convenient for most of eu) and the same applies to the US server.

If you have a server named eu you need to be able to service people properly .

  • midiankomidian
the best hope that we Europeans have to fix this primetime maintenance is to relocate the EU server out of the US I think. So until the server will be running from the US we will have to endure such maintenances. So lets just hope that the relocation will come soon

Why do you keep performing maintenance at silly times, like EU day time (3:30pm)??? server down time several hours.... WTF
Please can you do maintenance when its early hours of the morning, when people sleep or at work, not when people are coming home from work/school.
Sorry if you find this rude, but you expect to pay money to play the game, STOP pissing them off with silly maintenance.

    I agree 100%

Broken quests or not, There is a better time to do maintence, I made it though the game without anything halting my progression bug wise. Why cant everyone else.

This is starting to leave a bad taste in peoples mouths for this game already, A retail game with beta problems, and maintence that means a lot of people miss an entire day of play from a game they paid a lot of money for.

Maintence at a decent time will make everyone happy, Why cant it happen? this is what I would expect of a shite f2p game. Not a big AAA p2p game.

You just completly missed that they take down the servers 1 hour away from EU primetime and expect it to be done for several hours.

I pray to god they screw this patch up so it takes many hours so they take down NA-servers at primetime there too, the love on these forums will be nice to watch! ;o)

    Now I am really worried!

It annoys me that they didn't choose a better time for maintenance. We are paying for this game. So do the maintenance at the morning. Most of us can only play after work!

I really hope they will at least fix the problem with the missing items! I am still waiting and didn't get any response.

They are pushing it... it's 16:00 GMT on a Monday! I am all for a good Maintenance period, but do it from 06:00 till 09:00, for example. For the love of God! People are coming home from work, they want to play, and what do we get? A Schedule Maintenance?! At least give us a warning!

They patch "Planetside 2" at 3-30 pm GMT as well and when we asked for them to please move maintenance to a more suitable quieter time, their reply was " its our working hours and you will have to accept it"!!

I was playing up to the maintenance announcement in-game at about 8:30 am PDT. So EU and NA servers are not being brought down at the same time... though it appears that both are down now.

My experience with the players online so far, is that the most players are on from 9 am PDT to 11 pm PDT. There is also a bunch from about 3 am PDT to 6 am PDT. Not sure who is playing. Is this just NA and Europe or is Japan joining in? I know China is unlikely to allow it across their borders. There are a few Russian players I have talked to in-game, but they are probably on the EU server whereas Japan and Australia are probably on NA server...

So maybe 11 pm to 3am PDT would be a good window for maintenance? The Devs should have better info on actual load.

Oh well, I have mumbled long enough...

I am actually fine with the current status, yes there are bugs and some quest mobs won't spawn etc and regular maintenance is necessary. BUT purposely scheduling it for a time where you inconvenience a major part of your player base is insane. And don't come back with "but it's normal working hours for the techs" as it's not and there is no business in the world that takes servers down during business hours. This is actually something that would make me quit. Scheduled maintenance during the times I can most likely play such as Sunday mornings or week evenings.
