I had arranged the deal via Xbox messaging & provided all screen shots. CS told me that since this was my first ticket regarding this, they would send half of my stolen funds (which was 150k) but couldn’t do anything else as my evidence cannot be verified by their own investigations. They stress that making such transactions is basically my own risk. They did stress that any transaction you make you should have the details of said transaction in game, so in guild, group, area or whispers as they can verify it.
Essentially my advice is put a ticket in & they should help you out depending on the quality of your evidence

Thanks. I took a video of me giving the gold to him, and him disappearing. I also took a screen shot of the messages in game back and forth. I’ll be happy to share that with customer service.

Too bad we don't have a true bounty system so we can hunt this scammer down without mercy. True freedom indeed.

ZOS are usually pretty good at recovering the gold for you provided that you had the deal confirmed in game chat. Usually it's a one-time-thing so you cannot be sure they will do so again.

They were essentially low impact volume scams and that hasn't changed outside of people falling for it more often.
Eventually, scammers in games such as Runescape, Ultima, EQ and EVE had to really play the system to build their empire if they didn't want to do it by incessantly farming 20 hours out of the day. I margin trade scammed my way to my first 10 billion ISK. Or the infamous "free ore" pod trick. SOE had to implement a loots right system specifically because people like me would loot and scoot high value, droppable items with little regard to the rest of the raiders (being one of the best freelance pullers in EQ on a PVP server also made me a very busy man).
We've removed the risk of having an ingame economy for what reason? Everyone getting loot, why? I get it, people like to have their hands held when crossing the MMO street but when we've gotten to the point where we are decrying a Nigerian scam for being morally bankrupt instead of lacking in ingenuity and , then we have hit the bottom of the RPG barrel.usmcjdking wrote: »As a long time EVE player, I applaud this scammer for keeping the dream of true freedom alive.

I'm all about it, but there's absolutely 0 punishment in death so, wouldn't work.

Live and learn for myself. But I still feel zos should allow some sort of secure forum for gold for crowns.
Thanks for everyone’s help on the issue.
Edit - I did get an email. Thanks support for helping me out!!
