Ya, but those other games actually let you setup your sub. I can't even get access to my account to actually do it because their verification is broken. Pissed!

other mmos dont ask for the full sub price until the first 30 day of free time run out, i put money on my prepaid card only when i need to use it, so right now im being forced to charge my card only to receive a service i already paid for. First time i see this honestly.

Totally - people are quoting this:

"The first 30 days begin at or after the official launch of the game when players select their preferred subscription plan. Subscription fees will only be charged after the first 30 days."

However, as game cards are a valid subscription method, then frankly, requiring the entry of a card is out of order.

Actually Kerin - I quoted what the thing says, it did not say "credit card details need to be inserted", merely that a subscription method needs to be selected. So. Why do you need card details for game cards as the preferred method?

1) Stop claiming other MMOs did the same.
No they did NOT. I know of no game at all which forced any customers directly to pay another 30 days before using up the already paid 30 days.
You claim nobody is forcing you. Well they are. Not everyone does have a CC.
Furthermore yes Blizzard and some other MMOs requored a CC in some cases but that was done after the 30 days where used up and n cases it was done forehand they did only a verification charge of 0.01 $ and not the full charge.

2) the claim that customers agreed as it was outlined in TOS is not true.
None of the retailers outlined this at all in the TOS or other things.
Not even the elderscrollsonline store did outline those requirements before buying the game.

3) There is a difference between a "trial subscription" like Netflix trials as example or a forced subscription for an already paid service.
The 30 days are not "trial" days they are days which are already paid for with the box you bought and paid at the retailer.

So in all conclusion this is not normal for a mmo never has been never will be.
This is just *** customer support holding the money from customers they already paid hostage to receive more money.

In fact it is in clear violation of the agreement made between customers and retailers so everyone can go ahead and get a full refund since the advertised service is not delivered.

Months ago Zenimax stated in a support post that time cards would be available at launch. Now the only place in the world that has them is in the UK? Here in Canada not a card to be found and some retailers did not even know there was going to be one!

Ashilta, you have not been charged on your credit card yet, it charges after the 30 days are up, stop being a drama queen and try thinking a bit before you throw a tantrum. And you go ahead and try and get that full refund, and when they tell you that you were already informed and you cant get a full refund you go ahead and try to hire a lawer to sue for your money back and get laughed at by them too.

Uh huh Skylara, but if you want to use that as your preferred method, they expect you to buy one and use the code. So much for the 30 days included game time. Zenimax fanbois can bleat all they like that it was in the TOS, but I think it was reasonable to assume that any subscription would need to be set up after the expiry of the 30 days, as the 'clearly stated' requirement to continue to play, not that we would be held to ransom.

Reason they want your details now? It's so if you quit before the 30 days, there's a chance you will 'forget' to cancel your sub in time to avoid the charge. This is very common practice, annoying, but common.

Also, do you think they do not sell on or use in some way your personal details? (not talking CC here, just address etc etc.) another annoying but common practice.

The worrying fact is that they didn't see the bottleneck coming until it bit them, and us, in the rear.

This. I believe ZOS would not slap their own face in the days of release. They are working on it hard for sure. So stop making another meaningless threads and contact Customer Support if you can't wait a day or two - I call that addiction (huh, I am one addicted then!).

I do not have a credit card. I have been charged for the 2nd month now because I had to select a payment method (which is iDeal, instant bank transfer here in The Netherlands). My money is gone, they added 30 days to my account so it's now 59 days left.

I have no other way of paying them. So what they said is not true in my case.
I did not have 30 days of free play time. Because they blocked me from getting into my account and playing until I payed them for the 2nd month.

And what we can do? Nothing. Yah, it's frustrate but... Nothing to do.
