Is PvP dead in ESO?

    ESO PvP is dying
It would be naive to say, it's fine. However, it's up to each single player which direction it goes. The bars on population for the different campaigns for example, it's all in our hands. It could change to great (AkA healthy state) at any time, as soon as people get reasonable and don't constantly try to ruin other people's fun.

Battlegrounds may appear to be a different story, because the queue there is basically arranged with the same system as the dungeon finder and we all know what that's like. But that's nothing compared to when the round eventually starts, because then it's once again purely the player's responsibility. There are no excuses...
You reveal yourself best in how you play.

ESO as a whole as never be closer to its death. And it gets closer each second. That's a fact. And that's actually true for you too, who is reading this! So, watch out!

But I don't see it happening anytime soon. And I have a lot of fun when I play pvp. As long as you avoid large scale, cp campaigns, and peak hours...

I'll not vote because the pvp is neither healthy nor dying, according to me.

    Having fun? Play.
    Not having fun? Leave.
Bad at it? Two factions run 40 man zergs. Aka "My bar won't swap!" "He's cheating!" "The enemy didn't render!"
    Bored? Go with the underdog.
Want attention? Make polls or troll zone chat.
Hate your guild leader's a) passive aggressive rubbish b) rabid screaming? Yes, he/she probably is stoopid/unhinged/someone you would avoid in public. Press that X button.
Frustrated? Accept that you may actually suck at it and practice more than once a week.
Lagged? Pretend you actually killed the person Much Better Than You.
    Solved.

    ESO PvP is dying
The fun fact is that I say it is dying because the lag on the recent days is less than the usual, and since i doubt zos actually improved their hardware, i just suspect there are less players.
Another fact that confirm this theory is also that i don't have anymore to be in the queue to log on the main campaigns, 1 year ago it wasn't the same

To be fair, it has been going 5 years and I would expect anything that old in PC game terms to be on a downward spiral. I still enjoy it but only PvP 2-3 evenings a day when it used to be every evening and all weekend.

i Strongly disagree with you about that.
i solo play daily now for several years in eso, "daily"
    and also:
@Sypher was just doing a livestream on eso recently and it proved that solo play is alive and well.
he even made reference to solo play multiple times in the stream selling eso as if it was a product he was proud of.
and i whole-heartedly agree with his sentiments
so i have to disagree with you, solo play is most assure alive and well in pvp in cryodiil.

When was this stream? Pls i cant find it

So, how many ppl that voted or commented actually play in cyro or are the majority pve players that don't pvp?

Why not put this in the pvp section to get a better view as to what ppl think?

    ^ this.

Any time I go into Cyrodiil there are just as many people playing, but can't say it's healthy since pings can hit 999 and general performance in battle is bad. Usually have to wait to enter, takes about 10-15 minutes depending on the hour.

BG don't do much of but have never had to wait more than 5 minutes

Wall of text ahead, caution devs : if looking at too many words make head feel hurty, please close the tab.

someone linked this thread on discord, i hardly visit forums anymore cause ill prove that devs dont read anything related to pvp

its not naming and shaming if I say the devs are single cell organisms right ? something like that would go over their heads completely.

like everyone else said, anyone who says pvp is fine is a zergsurfer or zergling (CAPSLOCK FOR COOL: YOU ARE NOT "SOLO" IF YOU FOLLOW A BLOB AROUND THE MAP, THAT MAKES YOU A ZERGSURFER/ZERGLING)

pvp is dying because of all of the above reasons which the dedicated pvp players already know and are vocal about, so no need to repost that here since we all know the issues.

a simple solution which till date baffles me as to why they havent thought of this, is to enable dynamic AP in relation to the number of faction specific players who are present/contributing to the offense/defense tick

In simple caveman terms (fingers crossed a dev was dared into clicking on this thread) :

If there are 10 DC players defending aleswell from 72 EP(yes we all know which EU campaign im referring to), the ap tick generated from successfully flipping the keep should be split between all 72 EP players with no base minimum value ticks.

The EP blob would end up with 83 AP per player for flipping the keep (assuming the tick value was 6k), this would actually deter megazergs from stacking on one point, or from sending 20 players to retake 1 resource, or to stop chasing 3 players from Africa to Asia, reducing server constraints, spreading players out naturally and throwing a bone to non zerglings/zergsurfers (it has become apparent to me that saying the word s____scale sends the eso devs into shrieking fits of rage and confusion so please dont mention the S word).

There is more merit to this implementation than I have mentioned, but thats up to the devs to realize for themselves, cause if they can't then honestly all hope is lost and they are coasting on this for the zero effort paychecks until it crashes and burns.

This is how you improve pvp health and population. Ive not mentioned anything regarding pvp balance since we all know that its already hopeless, if a dev tells us they are looking into X skill or Y set..its always a change that triggers both sides who wanted a nerf and a buff.

I am looking forward to how the devs will suddenly become responsive when the next batch of MMOs are close to release

Thanks everyone else for reading my novel, it will be listed on amazon soon dont worry !

2 weeks ago, I was running some battlegrounds, not even during prime time, to finish out my warden healer. cause you know... no other way to get purge and warhorn for a pve healer, aside from pvp. my pops were within few minutes. i literally managed to finish out my grind in under an hour. there was no pvp event going on at the time. did I just get lucky? not idea. I don't pvp enough to tell either way (pvp is not my thing and never will be)

your timer screenshots are conveniently cropped so that we cannot tell what is is that you are queued up for. for all I know its a dps timer for a pve dungeon.

server probably matters too, my experience was on pc NA.

last but not least, your cyrodil screenshot shows 2 factions as locked and pact - low. 2 locked factions. could it be that pact players switched alts? could be any number of things.
and yes, this poll is biased.

I think it would be healthier for the game to have just 2 Cyrodiil Campaigns in total.

    1 Champion Point Campaign: Vivec
2 Below lvl 50 one: Kyne

But then again there are technical limitations.

PVP is dying because performance. At this point I doubt anyone would desire balance over performance. If they can't get right what allows people to have a fun time, there is no hope. The lamest thing is arrive at a keep to defend and be ready to face the invaders coming at your direction then get a loading screen and after 3 minutes you are dead and the keep taken. *** like this should not be allowed to happen.

You could Give a lot of reason why pvp is dying, lag, faction locking (using second account to lock a faction out) macro's, cheat engine and zergs (most of the devs run in them) or 5-6 on 1 person, peeps find it hard to find it fun when all this is going on and when having 5+ or an entire zerg just on you, personal i think of it as a challenge, but i think the main reason is 5-zerg just on one person is the biggest reason why pvp is dying

not rly dead...its been dying from day 1 of the game when devs refused to focus on their best game part and instead focused on RP snowflakes who left the game anyway...so instead of having a top game with solid pvp and stable high population they now have only a handful of snowflaking RP with minimal pvp activity on a broken map...that's just it...recipe for failure witnessed since day 1...also the pvp its in a terminal cancer state so yeah at some point we will put the nails in the coffin.

RP snowflakes is exactly but ZOS focused on lmao and they are legit gone now too like you said

If they prioritised PVP, this game would have been out of this world with a very very loyal fanbase
