TBH we do not know if these regular Steam loggin issues are something Zos is doing wrong or Steam . Neither have said nor will say since it is customary to not through your business partner under the buss except in the most dire circumstances.
One thing is sure, on one side or the other someone or a group is very incompetent that this happens so often and for lengthy periods of time.
I will say, and anyone that has worked with major corporate networks will agree, circuits one owns are much more reliable than those leased from third parties since when the circuit goes down you will immediately do what is needed to fix your connection. The third party will get to it when they can. Meaning, I would expect the likelihood is Steam is at fault but that is just a guess. We all know Zos is not perfect.

I don't really care who is in charge for this, but I'm sure that the problem is on the ZoS side. Anyway it's ZoS who took my money, and they are in charge in that case. I do understand people that were so mad today finally after all these epic fails that going to request the refund the game from Steam.
This is a total disaster. Seems like there are NO devs at all at ZoS side, but only marketers and crown stuff designers.
That is very, very sad.

I understand the frustration, and the need to spam the forums with three threads on the subject. Two of them duplicates.

But it is really an assumption that this is Zos' fault. If you are a customer via Steam it is actually Steam that takes your money. As I understand it those with Steam pay for everything through Steam. You even say it is through Steam you would request a refund.
Are you even posting this on the Steam forums?
I am just glad I did not unnecessarily put a middle man between me and the game and I am not joking with that statement.
Can't be Steam, it regularly happens right after ESO updates/patches. If it happened when Steam updated/patched, fair enough, but it doesn't. It's the other way around.
If I could buy the game non-Steam and have all my stuff transferred over I'd probably have done it by now as I'm already trying to get as many games off Steam as possible. I don't like having some other program slowing things down and/or causing problems further down the line and if a game is on GOG now I use that instead. If I could go back there's no way I'd have used Steam for this game. As far as I know though we can't transfer our stuff, and there's no way I'm starting over from scratch.

Several people have done it, It goes against everything I stand for to encourage bad behaviour and customer service though so I won't buy the game again to be able to play it.
To give us a digital copy that doesn't have us using the Steam launcher however is the least they can do, it wont give us back the missed days and all the irritation they stirred up but then at least they have shown that they care and don't want the players to go thru this with every update.

How is it possible? Have they started doing this recently? Because according to this post it's not possible : https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/5243042/#Comment_5243042

I've just seen this so maybe it does work. But why did the mod in my last post link say it couldn't be done? Maybe this way is different to what he was answering to in some way : https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/423493/how-to-purchase-access-to-the-regular-launcher-eso64-exe-for-steam-users/p1
Solved
I've an eso account ( i first purchase eso from zenimax) ad it is linked to my steam account.
Starting from steam it doesn't work ..connection timeout.
If.i launch eso...64..exe. within steam and use eso login and pswd.. not steam account.. it work.
I'm EU user.
I'm really not gonna give them more money if they can't fix their issues. I only give my money when it's worth. And ZoS is such a bad game development studio, I had so many problems with them...
Now i'm gonna miss out on feathers and I might not get the indirk mount either. If they can't fix the steam launcher,
they should really stop selling the game on steam and give all steam players acces to the non steam launcher.
There are enough games out there that are running a non steam launcher and a steam launcher next to eachother, with the same account, so why can't this game do this?
