Zenimax has handled this problem in a professional, considerate manner.
I am quite pleased, even if the blanket policy is still something I strongly disagree with.
It took approximately 30 hours for me to get a human response, but once I did, the fix was immediate and satisfactory.

Like so many others, I supported the game by pre-ordering.
Upon attempting to log in after I got home from work, I am told my login information is invalid, and that I must set up a subscription BEFORE I can use the 30 days of "free" game time which I ALREADY PURCHASED?
This makes me distrustful, and far less likely to continue supporting the game.
The way to get people to support your game, is to make the game fun and addictive.
The way to make players angry enough to end their support for your game, is to use deceitful, coercive practices to attempt to force subscriptions before people have decided whether or not they want to play long-term.
I await answers. If I receive no answer, or if the 30 days are ticking away without me being able to play until I give your company more money for something which I have already paid for, I will simply quit ESO and demand a refund.
This must be addressed.

I will not sign up for a subscription regardless of whether the money comes out now or in 30 days, if this is the tactic they are using to try to secure them. It's the principle of it... Are you kidding me? If you don't read the terms of service/information on their page before ordering it's your own damn fault. All people do is to read "30 days free" without reading the conditions of these 30 days. It's 100% clearly stated that you NEED a subscription plan. Every MMO out there does so any every MMO says so on their page. You simply dont get it do you? Dont know what is so difficult about it. Nowhere in the terms of agreement says that you should have the full amount of money in your card to set up a subsciption plan or else you loose access to a service you allready paid for. It shouldnt require any amount to set up a plan especially when you are using the same information you used to purchase the game. As it seems, Zenimax understood the epic failness of what they tried to pull off and as they stated in the main thread, that issue should be sovled by contacting support. So we have just to wait and see.0

What I understood from it: I put in my credit card info, but nothing will be charged until 30 free days pass. It's not clearly stated that I need to pay the full sub price upfront. I did not expect it. I've never played a game like this and I've never been charged, if only temporarily, to access game time I already paid for. After reading the forum, I understand the purpose of preauthorization, but I disagree with the necessity of paying the full price. Charging a small amount would work just as well to check if the card is legit. What does it matter if I don't have $15 on my account when the payment isn't due for another month?
As for game cards, this is simply wrong: people bought the game and 30 days, under no circumstances should they be required to buy another 30 days before they can access what they already paid for.2 -

This has everything to do with principle, and nothing to do with emotion. I am a business man, and I will not do business with a gaming company, should they continue to attempt coercive practices to obtain subscriptions which must be earned via the entertainment value of their product. ESO has enough of that to garner more than sufficient support. There is no need for this strong-arm tactic.
No other MMO I have purchased/played/supported in the past has ever required a subscription to utilize the 30 days of free game time which they provide via initial purchase of the product itself.
Should Zenimax choose not to address this issue, I will spend my time/money elsewhere.
Gaming is for fun/relaxation. I do not read fine-print for games I purchase. I should not have to. This is not a credit card, nor a loan, or mortgage, etc.

If you are using an item from the top list, your money will not go anywhere but will be unavailable for a period of time that varies from 1 sec (a good paypal experience) to 3 days (a bad credit/debit experience). Prepaid credit cards will have funds locked temporarily for much longer.
The value will be the $amt of the sub plan you want to OFFICIALLY pay for once your trial ends.
If you want to use one of the methods from the bottom, you must pay up front.
No, this is not quite the deal presented to us in writing with the product. Yes, it could be INFERRED that this was the deal. Doesn't mean it's the fault of anyone who DIDN'T assume that.

There is nothing in there about a pre-auth, or needing to have funds, or prove you can pay for the sub you will buy 30 days from then THAT DAY. I knew it, you knew it. We've both been to the MMO rodeo before. This doesn't mean complaints from people who didn't are invalid, and your argument has no place in a CS forum.

It's a sad day when people do set up their sub, ZOS double-charges the pre-auth amount ($77.94 x 2), and the authorization hold IS STILL IN PLACE 3 days later, and you CAN'T ACCESS your gameplay. Sad day indeed, fanboy, now quit trying to invalidate legitimate problems just because YOU are not experiencing them.
