My Nord magsorc and Redguard magplar applaud you. I can not think of any circumstances that would have me change their race either.

If you're that dedicated to chasing meta, there's always going to be something to make you feel "grrr, I'm being forced to . . ."
Me, I pick races by theme & appearance. I'm usually not sure what the passives even are.
This might very well be but it gets rather annoying if they make sweeping changes which undermine what a character is built to do. In this vein I would like to point out the way in which Khajiit crit bonus at one time applied to 'weapons' which in the first iteration of the game meant Staffs, Sword and Shield, Dual Wield, Bow, 2hander. After the year one changes to what the definition of 'weapons' meant, this changed and it meant that the Khajiit wizard took a MAJOR hit. I knew people who quit the game over that. The Khajiit mage was never meta but it was in a better place before this change hit, and it fundamentally wrecked a character style for the players who played that way. This is the problem that ZoS needs to be careful with when changing and adjusting races. As I've said for years Race is way too damn important. I like the suggestion by some players that alternate 'styles' of races would be available so people could have their cake and eat it too.
They make an annoucement about revamping racial passives then they put race change tokens "on sale" and regardless if they make all races vanilla or they create new BIS races by jacking the passives around its going to cause allot of people to want to change their character races...and I seriously doubt they are going to give everyone free race changes on all their characters...maybe its just me but I feel like we are getting played.

Nobody here is getting played.
Meta, optimal race choices and other stupid elitist crap all make a very small minority.
Race changing is YOUR choice regardless of how will ZOS handle it, and if you and others had any sense of self control and self respect it would do absolutely nothing.
The problem isn't ZOS and your paranoid conspiracy theories. It's the fact that these people can't even play the game FOR SIMPLE FUN. Why is it so hard to make a character with a race that you LIKE for other reasons than performance? I'm about to put a hole in the wall with my head.
I'm here to have fun. Create a beautiful fantasy character and play a story. I want to be a strong hero or villain too, but this kind of mentality takes the cake. I'm here to go on a magickal journey and adventure. Not grow my ego and my epeen and sense of self worth like some folks who have none IRL are are too lazy to fix that. Let alone feed some sociopathic traits some players often exercise here on the forums as well as ingame.
If ZOS indeed does put the tokens on sale.... Then you deserve it and I will only feel sorry for you.
I hope they do just so I can laugh at how many people get swindled by this pathetic thing like 3% extra dps, even though I'd rather have them make racials much less impactful as a whole.
PS: STOP SAYING THERE ARE RACES WHO "FAIL" AT PLAYING A CLASS WITH STAMIMA/MAGICKA FOCUS! It's not true, they do just fine, extremely well even. Just stop with this pathetic nonsense.
TL;DR: It's all in your head.

To play devil's advocate, what's wring with playing ESO with a focus on performance?
At top tier levels in trials and in PVP, race choice does make a difference. My Dunmer StamWarden will objectively perform less well than a Redguard StamWarden. As for my Breton StamSorc...at a certain level of play in PVP or DPS counts in PVE where the racial traits do make a difference, my Breton StamSorc is not going to make the cut.
But unless you play at those levels, and I don't, it doesnt really matter a whole lot. I love my Breton Silencer, even though she's a hilariously bad racial choice for the class she wound up playing. There's absolutely value to, as you say, playing the game to have fun with whatever race you want to role play.
But lets not pretend that there isnt a level at which racial choices do matter. And lets not act like the people who play this game for the high-end PVP and PVE (which is just as valid a reason to play as your "for fun" is) for which racial choices and meta chasing and theory crafting do matter don't have a reason to be looking at the upcoming changes with some trepidation.
So, before you put your head through a wall, consider that we all have different definitions of fun.
jediodyn_ESO wrote: »Honestly, so happy about this change. Every race in game has a mix of classes in the story, but as players in a min/max universe, it isn’t realistic to make an off race-class. At some point you hit a game ceiling doing raids or PvP that limits your progress.
Make racial identity meaningful with superficially exclusive looks and styles. Keep the mechanics separate!

Why? Because these elite players are extremely toxic at best. And I've just about had enough of their cries and complaints.
Also, its clearly not fun. If you go out of your way to bash "lesser" players, kick them, complain about them and what not, cause you're clearly "better" than them, it's not fun. It's your issues that you are taking out on people who don't deserve it. Especially new players. What baffles me is how often somebody comes here to flex their numbers too while simultaneously bashing a group of random noobs. If you also go as far as complain to the devs about their changes hurting your top tier performance, that's also proving some points.
It's sad is what this is, and it bothers me, because it's more than obvious why these people do it. I've been around in mmos for the past 15 years. Don't try to convince me it's "another definition of fun" lol.
I'm a top tier endgame player too, but unlike epeen growers I know where the line is.

Stamina and magic races was not an thing at launch it came with the removal of soft caps.
Oreyn_Bearclaw wrote: »This was my first thought as well. Some people like to be smug and shame others for min/maxing, but the reality is that if you do care about it, your race is a big part of a build.
Unless they homogenize races, there will be some race that emerges as meta for a particular playstyle. People will be pretty upset if they wake up the day after patch and are looking at needing 15 race change tokens, and rightfully so. Feels like a cash grab under the guise of a balance change if you ask me. They could of course prove me wrong by making race change free for the first week after patch, but I won’t hold my breath.
I generally stick to orcs, regardless of the meta. I mean, orcs do have a monopoly on all the sexy, so they're going to perform well just about anywhere, ya know?
I understand where you're coming from, though. And if you want to squeeze every last digit out of those numbers, yeah, maybe that means switching or re-creating a character when the meta changes. That's kinda why I don't follow it. I know the game is going to change. A lot. Instead of the MOST efficient tactics available, I'll stick to tactics that are generally sufficient for my needs.
Sure, I won't be wowing everyone with my DPS parses. But I'll get by. *shrug* Do most of the playerbase follow the meta? Or are most players just learning or doing whatever suits them? That'll answer your question.

How ironic, how about you stop judging and insulting others for the way they choose to play the game? I min/max, I chose my races based on the roles I wanted them to fulfill but I don't insult people for playing the game differently than me.
I think you can only be unhappy if you didn't choose the race that you like the most yourself, but instead choose "the best" race for your class, just for endgame progress.
And as it is possible ingame to buy crowns for gold (trading with players), there is no problem for the race chance.
It's of course easier to buy it with the crowns of ESO Plus, but not necessary.
I still wonder that i see screaming although the race changes are not published yet.

Minimaxers as a group of players are the bane of MMOs and are always the ones whining for buffs/nerfs. Ironically the only way to get rid of them is to turn games into what they want: All races, classes and gear to be the same.
My sig says it all.
