    Again, thanks for the suggestions.

Honestly, I know how you feel, but join a campaign, do the training missions (takes 10 minutes), go back to PvE, keep a weather eye on the map occasionally, if you see your side is painting the map, join a a zerg, you'll have it within an hour. Plus, if you do it late at night it's often really PvE anyway.

I'd like to point something else out. It's entirely possible to get caltrops or purge on a PvE toon without changing anything. You can run with a Cyrdiil group or BG (esspecially with low MMR) and do extremely well. I personally believe that having these skills in the PvP skill line helps attract people to do content they may enjoy, but wouldn't engage in normally. Although this isn't the majority feedback, it's a large part of keeping PvP interest, which many players enjoy and want to see it thrive. I will happily group with PvE'rs who want to unlock these skills no questions asked. Maybe i'll start advertising in zones and get a group going. Not only does this keep PvP going, but endgame PvE as well. I think that's fair.

If you don't want to deal with the element in Cyrodiil you can just stay stealthed and away from fights. There are buffs you can use to maximize the points you get from repairs (I don't remember them now) so it does not take very long. Only took me 3 days of a couple hours a day.

My friend does this. He repairs walls and doors.

If he’s at a castle that’s under attack, he’ll stealth and log out. LOL

I would if I didn't have the time to sneak out but so far I've had no trouble just sneaking out the opposite direction from the attacks. xD

Well, you don't really (and I say that loosely) need to have caltrops, but it is very nice and highly recommended to have for stams. However, you can get by without it in PvE, or I don't really even use it in PvP. For example, for my stamsorc, I typically slot for DoTs and AoE the Hurricane, Endless Hail, Liquid Lightning and Razor Caltrops. Now, while leveling the toon before getting caltrops, sure, I was rolling around with those latter three; plus Poison Injection or Venom Arrow. Dps was still very good without the Razor Caltrops. It is just more fun to drop the Hail, LL and Razor C on a boss. Plus, the Hurricane and Poison Injection. You can also slot Haunting Curse in place of the caltrops. Yeah, the curse works fine, even with the stam sorc. All and all, it's about the effective rotations of skills and combo.

Same with my stamblade. If without the Razor Cal, I still have Endless Hail, Twisting Path and the Drain Power (sorry, braincramp, forget the morph) for DoTs and AoE. Likewise, for my stamDK, if without the Razor C, I still use Endless Hail, Poison Inj, Brawler, Eruption or Deep Breath for the DoTs and AoE; or with Flame of Oblivion. So yeah.. you can get by without it just fine, but will be more effective for a stam with it.

I just don’t understand how you don’t want your character to be the best it can be just for an hour’s worth of work in cyrodiil.
I hate pvp on Stam and have a pve Stam character that I don’t even remember getting him caltrops, if you like your character and end up putting 100 hours into her that’s only 1% of the time spent on that character that you had to pvp, for a skill that will help your dps immensely.
And I’m sure you’ll probably put more than 100 hours into her.

If you don't want to PVP then don't, you can easily get caltrops doing PVE only, just go around and take resources. If you go for out of the way not contested resources then there will be no one player defending them, and each resource is 1500 AP (1800 with the delve boss buff on you) Just be prepared that it will be like vMA and you need similar build you would need there, but if you have a strong enough PVE character you can solo them.

I found best way to get caltrops is to que into low level pvp and spec resto staff and shout to join a Zerg. Hit people with as much healing as possible and you get it very very fast. I can usually get it at low level in about 4-5 hours especially if you join a good Zerg. And don't forget to repair walls too so much xp fast.

Fake news, Caltrops are around 5-8% of your total damage usually so more like 2-4k dps... (im talking about single target, no one cares about AOE damage)

Yes the intro is good for levelling up the skills, particularly if you combine it with an xp pot.

Stay out of cyro. Waste of time entering there. BG's is where you go. Don't like to pvp? No problem, when the match starts stay up top at the spawn where you are safe and let your teammates handle the burden. Or jump down and hide in a corner. Don't worry about how they might feel about it.

Trust me, I'd rather go one man down then have a teammate go 0-10 or something like that in a DM. Even coming in last nets you xp for your skills. Might take longer without helping your teammates, but there you go. Zero pvp, zero cost of buying repair kit's running around patching walls and no deaths. Not sure what turns you off about pvp, but you gain all the benefits of pvp without wasting your time playing horse simulator in cyro.

Catltrops should increase your DPS around 5k-10k its pretty big difference. You want to ideally have endless hail and catltrops up as much as possible.

Forget about DPS from Caltrops, the main importance is its range. You can place Caltrops where you need it and keep yourself out of range or in range from healers. It is a large difference from where you need to be in melee range like tornado. In PvE most player die from not being able to see AoE danger in time and react accordingly.

So much wrong with this post...

Why are we comparing Steel Tornado with Caltrops??

Why are we throwing Caltrops and then backing out of melee range???

Is this the legendary bow spammer?

    Honestly no.
But bro just run BG a few times. You’ll level up really damn fast

if you want caltrops and the only thing keeping you from it is PvP, seriously do consider Battlegrounds. If there are other reasons as well, please state them, and they can be discussed as well, perhaps someone has some advise on it. Battlegrounds is a great means to level your Alliance level to unlock caltrops without having to step one foot into Cyrodiil. It's a 4 v 4 v 4 system, and each battle will be at most 15 minutes, and frequently shorter. Also, all three teams get AP, including the last place team for just showing up. There's also a starter quest that gives you AP as well as a side quest that can earn additional AP. One last benefit of Battlegrounds is receiving Transumations Crystals, without going into Cyrodiil.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, do the intro quests to the Alliance War. You never have to leave your alliance-based area, and you get both AP and skill points from it. Depending on what options you make, you can get either 1 or 2 skill points. It's very quick and easy, and the hardest part is aiming your weapons at the dummies out in the field during the training.

Many if not most will tell you that either caltrops and/or endless hail are about the best options for stam. They both have the benefit of being both DOT's and AOE's, and are both ranged. I personally use both any time I have a bow equipped, which is most of the time at least on the back bar.

How noob friendly are BGs? I have a couple toons to max but never ran any PvP content because I usually suck at it and don't want to hold a group back. However there are things from achieves I want that I can only get through PvP, so.... yeah. Caltrops is also something I want on my StamBlade so again.... yeah.

No alternative to caltrops, but it's really easy to get. If you truly hate PVP, then go into one of the dead campaigns and play "PVE" - capturing resources from NPCs. You can run around for hours and never see another real person.

Probably quicker to just let yourself be killed and respawn at a keep that's not under attack. Your armor doesn't lose durability. Just charge into the battle, you might get lucky and take some with you.... like that guy in the other Alliance that's repairing walls to avoid combat, just like you.

Caltrops unlock in about 80k ap. In battleground you get about 7k-8k- for being in last place, that’s 11 matches max if you come in last place every time, each battleground takes 15 minutes at max that’s 165 minutes to get caltrops as a worst case scenario, yeah I don’t think that’s all to bad you could even just do one here one there when you have 15 minutes to spare.

If you’re on Xbox NA I’ll even group up and help you get them.

I guess you could say they're noob friendly in that these are transitory groups thrown together by the game unless you queue with other friends & guildies, and once the battle is over, so are the groups...to be good in them, though, it does take a bit of time to get accustomed to the games and the playing fields, but if you're just there to get AP, then IMHO, this is the way to go.

I was doing scouting dailies & taking forever to level AP, until a guildie told me that even last place teams get AP in battlegrounds and a lot more than scouting. They are also eligible for the daily reward and can be run constantly. So, during the last Midyear Mayhem during double AP, I did nothing but BG, and even continued with them when the Wrothgar event started. All of my characters were mostly level 2 or 3, and by the end of the Mayhem, I had about 5 or 6 of them up to level 7 to unlock all the skills, and the rest of my characters at level 5's & 6's...

I had the same problem as you, some people advised me to try Battlegrounds, it is very quick to get caltrops in Battlegrounds.

At the end i delete my stamina character, stamina is not for me.

But Battlegrounds are very funny, my healer is practically immortal, the whispers of hate are very funny, in just a week i received several whispers with death threats, i can not stop laughing when i receive those messages.

or before starting the battle, i put in the chat: WTB X Crowns.

never fails, always someone gets angry.

the people of PVP are very rare specimens, they take the game very seriously.

I'm telling you bud, I'm leveling up another alt now in BG's, if you pushed it you could have caltrops in a few hours. Forget cyro. Que up for domination or capture the flag, or anything other than death match if you want to try and pvp as less as possible.

Don't know what your hang up is with pvp(not judging), but in those modes you're just barely interacting with opponents unless you seek them out or end up at the same flag. Last match 5-7 23 assists and we won handily with me at top score. Barely even tried on an alt with nothing. And I really only try in DMs. I did try the afk thing and I think I got kicked, wasn't paying attention so I gave minimal effort to avoid being kicked as well.
