How much of a difference does cp make

I unno, a lot of people do a lot of BGs and do all right (in no cp) but to really expect to go into Vivec with 300 cp and face off against max cp players and NOT get reckt is just crazy. In a 1v1 that’s just too huge a cp gap.

Passives make you strong. 810 is ultimately a lot of passives someone with only 300 cp just doesn’t have.

Well beyond gear, CP, skill etc, and those are all factors, a stamina DK is no match for a Stamina NB of equal or greater skill, maybe even of slightly lesser skill. Stambaldes are right up at the top in terms of available class skills and design and Stamina DKs are currently towards the bottom. But it was most likely a gap in skill difference. For some reason it remains unknown to most players that PvP in this game does allow a lot of growth in skill and most people are extremely quick to jump on balance, gear etc for their losses.

It makes a huge difference. I actually tried this out over the weekend.
I was level 7 (with max cp) on a magicka dk. One bar(obviously) with flame staff and no passives. I easily killed pretty much everyone. This included below 50’s and even cp, some up to 600cp+.
Max cp as you can imagine whooped me lol
But yes, having cp makes a massive difference.

There is rapidly diminishing difference after CP 300. You stop gaining resources with each CP at that point and most of the stars are very front heavy on their returns. I have been playing around with an alt account at around 300CP. The difference from my main at max is not really noticeable. Your foe would not have had even a 5% dps and resource regen advantage on you and less than a 10% resistance advantage. Blaming CP for creep in this or that is largely a red hearing that the in crowd uses to confuse the not so smart at ZOS to try to hide that they are blowing up content with their cheats. We had far more CP three months after they started the CP system (I had 800 when they dropped the cap on it) and nobody was blowing out content with 40-60k dps then. CP then had yet to get its mega nerf and so stars were 25% not 15%, there were cost reduction stars, and CP gave more resources all the way to the top. CP was much more powerful.

    A couple thoughts:
    1) He is probably more experienced with a better build and far cleaner execution of it than you are. In a 1 on 1 fight a good PVP player will take little or no damage against a novice. Roll dodge in particular allows avoidance of virtually all damage with forward momentum giving him root immunity and allowing him to keep you a little out of range he likely took few shots as he ducked in and out to land his punches. An experienced stam NB will generally be quite good at deploying these things strategically. Stam NB's also have good burst damage combinations to erase you quickly if you not specifically and skillfully countering them. You may have felt like you were wailing away at him without hitting him much at all.

    2) He may well have been cheating anyway. The best ones are. Running though walls, jumping over walls, and maxing every stat instead of having to face limitations in a build. You really wouldn't be able to tell this fighting 1 v 1 as a good player will waste you either way but it gets pretty obvious with 6 beating on 1.
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

He let me wail on him a lot after he beat me 4 times, He 3 shot me each time, I wrecking blowed him 7 times and he was fine, back at full health in a second and then proceeded to erase me

Offensive wise after around 350-400 mark not much, defensive wise it's more.

The difference will be gear, equipment, knowledge and more importantly skill. I've seen cp160-200's able to 1vX max CP players, purely down to skill and knowledge. If you're just hitting someone they will be able to out heal everything, if you burst someone properly they will die.

Tips would be keep your buffs up, keep vigor up (best to use this proactively than reactively). Also learn your burst, it should be like debuff > stun > ult > execute or something along those lines, that way for the 3 seconds your opponent is stunned and unable to heal you can kill them with a chain of your most powerful attacks.

EDIT: If you're a stamblade your burst could be: Surprise attack > fear > Incap > Bow proc > Execute which will debuff the enemy, fear them so they're unable to block/dodge/heal, defile them to lower healing 30+%, increase your damage by 20% then hit them with your two biggest damage abilities which even if they do survive will be weak and defiled with you still doing 20% extra damage to them, just keep pressure and try to fear again asap to allow you to finish them.

When ZOS made CPs front loaded as they are now, putting more than 50-60 points into one thing a waste. So what do I get from my cps?

    Red tree:
    + magic dmg
    + critt dmg
    + penetration
    + direct dmg
    + dot dmg
    + staff dmg

    Blue tree:
    + ele dmg decrease
    + pys dmg decrease
    + dot dmg decrease
    + direct dmg decrease
    + spell resist

    Green tree:
    + magica recovery
    + stamina recovery
    + magica/stamima on heavies
    + break free cost reduction
    + dodge roll cost reduction
    + block cost reduction

The less CPs you have, the less you get of all these goodies, so yah. Huuuuuge difference xD

    Cleared Trials:
    - vAA HM - vHRC HM - vSO HM - vMoL HM - vHoF HM - vAS HM - vCR HM -

I've been asking for awhile for them to just make people CP capped when they zone into cyrodiil so we can reduce the grind to getting into pvp.

The first 400-500 CP make a lot of difference. The last 300 or so, not so much. I generally wont engage a 300 CP player in Cyro, but if they hit first, I dont expect the fight to last more than one burst combo.

It's not just CP total, but how you have your CP allocated. He is also probably a much more experienced player in PvP which also is a huge difference
