This bug is ruining PVP, and I consider it game-breaking

    It also happens in pve a lot. It goes away usually about 30sec or minute. Sometimes when in dungeons I can't open doors because it says I'm in combat. It's not as bad as in pvp tho.

    Its intended that group memebers being im actual combat keeps you im combat. Not so much no one actually fighting, leaving the fight, and everyone still being in combat minutes later when you are all sitting around the tramsitus shrine on a inner keep, definitely no actual combat happening.

    Nearly 30 minutes for me one night. To sum up:

    1. You don't have to be in a group to be stuck
    2. It is not due to lingering HoT or DoT
    3. Killing other mobs will not clear the problem
    4. Distance and stealthing does not help. Oddly you can even enter stealth while stuck. Invisible may help but I don't play NB much so couldn't tell you.

    The problem seems to be that you are permanently tethered to anyone whom you have healed or damaged as long as they are in combat as well.

    So that means if you run into a group that never dies and is always in combat, and you damage them, or heal someone who damages them, you are going to be stuck in combat for a really long time until everyone who was involved are dead.

    It's like a sticky spiderweb that's attaches itself to you and everyone else who gets involved in a huge tangled web.

    You can't even log out of the game it's incredibly annoying especially on really slow characters like magplar or dk

    My guild has found that if you have a reasonably fast PC it’s faster to force-quit the game and re-log.

    I find that the "stuck in combat" bug usually lasts just as long as it takes for someone to make the first callout that a keep is being sieged to that keep being flagged. Convenient.

    I only find this is an issue when I'm in a group.

    When I'm running solo I never have this problem.

    The reason (I think) is because if one member of your group is in combat then the whole group is in combat. Is of one dude is off fighting stuff it puts the whole group in combat. I ran around Cyrodil solo last night for two hours and didn't have a problem once.

    It happens solo. I don't usually group, and happened to me dozens of times already.

    The issue is probably related to several players you hit/interacted with in combat that are still alive or in combat status.

    Right now as I speak, I have a burning effect on my character that shows it will last another 49710 days. I can't use a transitus or wayshrine, or swap gear or skills because it's keeping me in combat. Been staring at the screen for over an hour now and watching the counter tick down. So all I have to do is wait 136 years and it'll wear off?

    I actually had to sign in to give this an Awesome!!

    Btw what is it about the number 49710?

    I've had buffs, effects etc show stupidly long time remaining and this number crops up regularly. :o

    Last night after defending Alessia I got the stuck in combat bug. Stayed at the keep for about 30 minutes and stuck in combat the entire time. Tried going into stealth, leaving the keep and running away, nothing would get me out of combat. So while at the keep I decided I would just jump from the top and kill myself. Hit the ground and still had a sliver of life left. Didn't die but seemed to be enough to break me out of combat. Might be something, or I may have just got lucky.

    Yep! One evening the combat bug was lasting, in average, 10 minutes. I can force quit and relog in less than 5 minutes. So every time I got the bug I just force quit and logged back in. Did this approx 5 times.

    I've even revived back in your home area in Cyrodiil and still not been able to mount due to being in combat, despite it being literally impossible to be in combat.

    it is the same in pve - if you have dot/hot on you - you are in combat.

    Guys it’s called balance! With the slight decrease in the strealth bug occurring other bugs that have been around but not as intense have to be increased. Having ESO+ may reduce the frequency. In all seriousness it is such a frustrating a bug. It happens grouped or not grouped. You can sneak or cloak and it does not go away. I think the linked theory is spot on what causes it as explained in the previous posts! Cancelled my ESO plus til they get these bugs worked out. Not paying them to ingnore and not even acknowledge game breaking bugs like this!

    Yeah most of us in my PVP guild report it as a bug every time it happens. I would say it surprises me that we haven't seen a response, then I remember its ZOS we are talking about and don't listen player base unless a large amount of people unsubscribe like all the sorcs were doing last patch.

    Note: I'm not suggesting everyone unsubscribes because that's against forum rules. I'm just stating a fact...

Because an 8 k shield is f ing useless. Died because of baddies on the forum. Too much qq too little pew pew. 16 AD 2 DC. 0 EP cause they bad, CP 2300 plus 18 level 50 toons. NA, PC, Grey Host#SORCLIVESMATTER actually they don’t or they wouldn’t keep getting nerfed constantly.

    I have this problem to some extent, but it eventually goes away once you get far enough away from people. Staying still? I don't know about that. I generally find running for a bit away from where you were fighting, will get you out of combat. Though you do stay in combat WAY too long.

    There's been dozens of threads on this problem in the past few months, but still not one comment from Zos or any effort to fix it. Maybe we need to start asking for refunds on our mounts if we are not going to be able to use them.

    It blows my mind that they still think ignoring their customers and game breaking issues is a good business practice.

    I've posted about this and my theory is that any buff you give someone (and maybe a debuff to an enemy) is causing it. Either you or the person you buffed/debuffed needs to die to clear yourself of it. It may also have a hand in the lag we experience, since the server is stuck trying to calculate this stuff in all of Cyrodiil.

    You can't mount, you can't wayshrine, you can't switch skills, you can't use a keep portal stone, you can't switch hotbar items, and best of all, (quoting an Eagles song)... You can check out anytime you like...but YOU CAN NEVER LEAVE!!!! (cyrodiil)

    Seriously, this bug needs a hotfix. I know there was a patch some time ago that made this much better. I don't know why it's come back. Like many other bugs. I just don't understand it =/

    Can't even leave home gate atm.. Bombed a group, died and went back to turn in bounty. Now the shrine not letting me travel out, because I'm in combat.. gg zenimax.. Always breaks something don't you...

    I certainly consider this a BUG and a show-stopper at that... I have better things to do than to RP-walk like a doofus from fight to fight... it's really aggravating.

    Also, the fact that you're stuck with the abilities you have in your bar and items on your quickslot, and are not able to change them to adapt to different situations (keep defense, field fight, keep attack, etc.) just because your group is in combat even if you're miles away from the fight is certainly dumb, and also a deal breaker to me...

    Yeah skill slotting is fun when i put rapid on bar after 30 min in combat, to not being able to slot my proxy for another 30min after i make it to the keep..

    Nope. the other day it took me 20 mins to get out of combat. The que was long and I didn't want to risk not being able to get back in, I dropped group and sat by the home gate. Reloaded UI a few times, and that didn't work. I had already died, but was still stuck in combat.

    And nope to stealth working, when it works it is probably just a coincidence.
    For a brief week before Murkmire it seemed like it was fixed, but now I am constantly stuck in combat--seems to affect healers more. I have to play run simulator to get anyplace, waste speed pots, and also if I get jumped I have hardly any stam left from running.

    I run with one of the only groups that DC has on Vivec in our time slot, and it is literally making it impossible for us to move around and respond or play the map.

    Everyone wants to get on people for just doing the Chalamo, or Nik, but it is less annoying to deal with the stuck in combat bug because your running on foot a shorter distance if you stay in those two areas. I literally feel like taking a break anytime our group decides to go deep in enemy territory--and this is my favorite thing to do, but the stuck in combat bug is making it a miserable experience. We have tried killing something, stealthing, trading, etc, nothing seems work consistently.

    We have had to sit 15 mins waiting for our whole group to be able to mount. Not everyone has hours to play the game, most can only play for 2 hours, do this a couple times, and people start dropping group.
