I do agree that strict percentages don't work in situations like this, as you get uneven and unsatisfying prices that are going to be psychologically round back up to the numbers they originated from. So the 900 crowns riding lessons still feel like 1000 crowns, and the 3600 crowns mount still feels like 4000.

Honestly, the only people this helps are ESO+ members looking to make some extra gold. Because it kicks out non-ESO+ gold traders and makes the gift price comparable to the sale price. But that might backfire because now I have a month or so to decide whether I want to dump 800,000 gold on this during the regular December sale. I can make a lot of gold in a month, but I can stop caring in, like, a day.

I'd rather get rid of Early Access and just get a satisfying discount on regular release weekend. Not a steal. Just a number that is highly persuasive in getting me to spend my own crowns.

Otherwise, statue is nice and the rate on the 12 month subscription is quite acceptable.

You really think you will change something? ZOS never changes their decisions when it goes to crown store. Someone will buy it and that's enough, if you complain about price of smth, it means you're into this stuff, and that's all they want, sooner or later you will buy it. Just like with outfit slots. 1,5k per character per slot? No way. But guess what, I bet a lot of us bought it anyway. Don't waste your time trying to convince them to lower the price, just get over it.

You are free to be a whale and to make your own decisions. My post is letting zos know my specific feelings on the matter. And, you are wrong 'sooner or later' I will not buy it.

It Molag Bal, so I can certainly see many people liking it. But its just a resize of an existing item, the Molag Bal Statue, so its a pretty lazy item to lead with for their new ESO+ rewards first freebie.

    But
3.6k for a reskin of something not super popular?

    Wow, that is disappointing.

I think this system was brought in partially to tempt people like me who don't currently subscribe, and I'm potentially the target audience for this because I do buy crown store stuff every so often, so if there were ESO+ exclusives I wanted I'd be willing to buy a subscription instead of a crown pack to get them. I'd probably get the 6 month sub since it's better value (and not much more than my usual 5,500 crown packs) - so if they could bring out an item I want every 6 months or so I'd be subscribing full time.

But because I'm thinking of a sub as a crown pack with some extra baggage that means the cost of the exclusives is a factor, and this one is more than I'd be willing to pay, so if it's representative of future offers I won't be subscribing to get them. 3,600 crowns is £15-20 if you're using subscription crowns (1,650 for £8.99 - 9,900 for £41.94) or just over 2 months subscription. (£20 using my normal 5,500 pack baseline.) That's a huge amount of money for a reskinned mount.

Admittedly I don't like the dwarven spider mounts (not a big fan of the steam punk aesthetic, or spiders) so I wasn't planning to get this one anyway but even if it was a mount I wanted I wouldn't be willing to pay that much. (I think 2,500 is the most I've spent so far.)

Now maybe I've got this all wrong and the sole intention was to give people who subscribe purely for the crafting bag something to do with their "free" crowns and so ZOS thought the price didn't matter and went for some proportion of what their data tells them the average subscriber has sitting in their wallet.

But if that's the case they're missing a trick with not considering people who don't currently subscribe but might be persuaded, and maybe they could consider this feedback from a potential subscriber they missed this time around.)
Just for the sake of thinking forward yes …

Can we get only one of the statue of the ugly little chap?

I mean someone, somewhere might like to try and build some sort of daedric throne out of them perhaps?

Or a giant statue out of smaller statues perhaps?

I figured it would start with 50% discounts on stuff to get us used to the idea of the system, and then bring it up later. Even then a 10% discount is very, "who cares?" Not a great start for the system.

I'm not inclined to throw it under the bus, it's still not a bad idea, just, you know, these are pretty uninspiring.

Ironically, I think it might be backwards, also. I think it was a low discount like this, it would have gone over better on a returning item. Like, 10% off of the Nord Hero costume (so, two bucks, but if you wanted to buy it with crowns and missed it two years ago, here's your chance.)

Alternately, a discount on stuff that had previously been crate only, like 10% off of the Red Pit Wolf would probably have gone over better, even if that still meant it was over twenty bucks.

For new stuff, it'd be a steeper discount to get people's attention. I'm sure some people have been waiting for this, but for anyone who was on the fence about this mount... yeah, not thrilled.

Are non eso+ able to gift it? If not then it wouldn't be giftable per your post as it would be something you are able to purchase solely due to being eso+. If non eso+ can gift it then it would not be a benefit to eso+ sellers as the person I quoted alluded to. Or am I missing something else?

I am still hoping that it's just confusing context, and you'll only be able to gift items like this during regular access.
Although I'll never be certain, as even if the UI doesn't support it, it might be possible to backdoor gifts through support tickets.

But in that case it doesn't really help anyone, as the crown price can be inferred months in advance and there's going to be negative word of mouth. Some might like that they're negating impulse appeal, but now it's tracking too far back into resentment.

To be a winning marketing technique, it needs to feel promising from Day One, even if all the details aren't revealed yet. The TES Loot Crate did it right by offering a free Soul Gem light with a year subscription. How did something I won't receive for seven whole months completely overshadow the ESO+ Chalice launch?

Bad timing and scheduling on ZOS's part, and too much hype and lead-in relative to initial impression. It won't be a costly mistake as ESO+ this month still won't be that much different than ESO+ a month ago or even a year ago. But it's a mistake that leaves them standing exactly where they were yesterday, and that should concern them.

It's the whole 'chocolate ration' thing from 1984. You've got to employ double-think to work it out. ZoS are adding value to our subscriptions by asking us to give them more money. If you forget about the removal of free crates, the rising cost of everything in the Crown Store, the increase in extremely expensive 'limited time' items, the locking of desirable items behind an undesirable gambling system and finally the fact that the spider is an overpriced re-skin, then it's a great deal! I think...

I don't expect to see many of these in game. A 2-minute new layer in Photoshop and 1000's of crowns. I like the spiders, but going to pass on this one. Just another reskin and a piddling tiny discount on a vastly overpriced offering.

I've bought loads of stuff in the past, but not any more. It's going to have to be pretty special - new model, new animations, new texture, dyes nicely, etc - for me to bother buying any more crowns outside of my ESO+. Oh - and those were whacked up in price using the stupid brexit BS as an excuse.

I understand the company has overheads, but you know what? So do I. So, apart from ESO+ free crowns and until something worth buying - at a decent price - my wallet is closed.
