An idea to improve hirelings

Presently, the hireling system uses the email system. Each toon you have, you need to log in with it, then claim the emails.

I was thinking about this and how it could be streamlined.

What if, instead of 12 hours, it was brought up to 24 hours in accordance with the daily login reward.

Then, when you log in, you claim two rewards. The daily login reward and the daily hireling bounty.

The hireling bounty would need to go straight to craft bag to bypass email and avoid inventory issues, for example, if you log in with a toon that has near full inventory they may have issues claiming.

The bounty would include the bounty of all characters with hireling skills in one hit.

For those that may take exception to non-eso+ members having it go to craft bag, keep in mind, ores, when refined end up outside of the craftbag, so for the most part the items will get pulled out pretty quick, and cannot go back in the bag. This is simply to ensure no inventory problems, as some may have a large combined hireling bounty.

I'm not sure what causes the email problems when purchasing from guild stores or sending items (having to change zones / relog to get the email) but if this eases the load making proper emails more reliable, even better.

I would love it if it was just a daily reset rather than twice in a day cause people miss out on alot since most can only play 2 hours a day tops and its really useless every day since they came in. Make it daily reset with a higher chance to receive legendary mats by like 25% of what it is now each day and get rid of the double login bs, this isn't a korean grind game like BDO.

Hireling deliveries really need looking at. The 12 hour log in deliveries are ridiculous

...which is how it has to be, seeing how a player has the -choice- for each and every single one of their characters if they want to spend skill points on hirelings or not, so the game has to load each character seperately to see if they are hireling-ish. And loading the whole character setup happens at... you guessed it, character load! (heck, the game even says so!)

So, you are saying... only people with a craft bag can have hirelings??? :p:trollface:

Really, there are no issues, -because- it uses the mail system, and the mail remains available even if you switch to another character after the one who got mail from their hirelings... so on the hypotherical "inventorey full" situation, they can either clear some inventory, or simply switch to their mule alt and claim the mails there.

Not likely, since the hirelings are automatically checked upon login, and the issue with the mail system is that the game does not check every second (presumably to keep the lag down when -everyone- who is logged in sends "check my mail" data over their conenction to the severs every second...

Tho that is a different issue, and one that could easily solved with some manual "check new mail" function...

    ...

The only way to do it like the OP suggests that would be disentagling the hireling mechanics from the individual characters. Which would be iffy considering that the skill points are individual character thing...

I mean, they could. They could remove all hirelings from the individual character selections, and make them a crown store only thing. Buy them in the crown store, then dummon them like some of the other assistants to claim your daily delivery... doesn't seem like any sort of improvement to me, but...

And I don't really see them spend their codey jockey resources on messing with a system that works well enough... not unless they can gain more profit of course..

The bounty would include the bounty of all characters with hireling skills in one hit.

What we gain from the hirelings already goes straight to the crafting bag when we claim it so there are no inventory issues unless we changed settings to create one.

Further, it takes mere minutes to go through each character, logging in then immediately logging out.

Basically, a lot of change for such little benefit. I do not think it is worth the coding time and effort.

I would rather much have it reset at the daily login time tbh, so people don't lose track and don't have to worry about when to login

Both ideas are better than every 12 hours. B)

I do get tired logging in 15 characters a day, and the mailbox caps at 50 items, so halfway through I have to collect before I can continue on.

    Idea -
Instead, a furnishing item (Like a crate or box) that you can put in your home that these things get delivered to. Pick them up at you leisure. Just maybe have to log in with each character once that day to assure a delivery.

I don't have crafing bag. I like the 12 hour reset time, I log in once a day, no matter the time, I get free mats. Works for what it is. Free stuff.

Do people really worry about logging in twice a day for the stuff? I never saw it like that, I just seen it like great, now I don't have to worry about logging in an hour sooner to get free stuff.

    Add alchemy and jewelry
    Alchemy is -kinda- added.
IF you join the dark brotherhood, that is... at a certain rank, you can get daily gifts from your friendly neighborhood bequeather, and one of them is a satchel full of alchemy stuff to make nifty poisons and such!

Tho I can see how they would not want to make it too easy for those "combat consumables" crafting... have people work for their tri-potions and all that, yes? On the other hands, if you can hire people to go looking fur runes, why not also for weeds to cook into potions?

And Jewelry, well... that is a special case anyhow. Seeing how they took extra steps to make those crafting materials rare to feel more precious... like precious metals, which is -exactly- what they are supposed to be! A hireling who delivers those for free would be a little silly, yes?
I mean, I could see something tho...
...a "prospector" NPC who will go looking for jewelry stuff if you pay them a pile of gold (gold sink!), maybe as part of some "merchant guild" that could someday pop up as DLC, or something like that...

While I agree that hirelings mail maybe a bit clunky I don't think that it was ever intended to be done on 15 characters (like many other activities), or at least it's intended to work on active characters, the ones you log on to and play with rather than just log in, get mail, log out

That is the point I am making. It is becoming clunky, which is why I proposed an idea to streamline it.

More and more toons, the more clunky it will get.

The only way I can think of to scoop it all in one go is if it went straight to craft bag so it doesn't cause inventory issues on claiming the more streamlined version. A non-eso member probably couldn't handle 15 toons worth of hireling rewards in one hit all to easily.

Somebody mentioned have the hireling go to your house and you claim it there rather than a claim mechanism. Great idea.

It's not 12 hours and 24 hours its is :
12/24 plus the next zone change that the server decides is relevant and maybe then one more just because...

I cannot count how many Times I have had 3 or 4 of the 5 & had to so something to force the mail server to get it's act together, so any change that gets it to actually deliver the goods once per day on login of that character would be a plus, but fixing the weird mail system as well would help!

Mailbox is capped at 100 email on PC. What system are you on?
