Shields are total trash in pvp

I got 20k spell and physical resistence each (30%)
    I got 2800 crit resistence (42%)
    I got 11.7k Hardened Ward

Prior to Murk(s)mire my Hardened Ward was about 12k so it's pretty much the same as it is now. Given the crit damage multipliers and crit chance in the game my shields should be stronger than before, not weaker. Yet for some reason my shields melt even faster than before. When fighting stams I have to spam shields on cooldown and still take considerable damage to my HP. And that's on top of shields not activating reliably. To be precise, shields activating even less reliably than prior to Murk(s)mire, which is an incredible feat in and of itself that I though impossible, but ZOS has done it!

Your crit resistance needs to be like 4100 to 4400.

Is it the same for you too, guys?

My shields melt so fast it's crazy it's pointless to fight any stamina class and magplars/magdks just rekt me too

What to do? Resistance is pretty pointless. Critical dmg to shields is just insane even with 2,7k critical res and bleed builds just laugh at me... :(

    Any advice?
Same in PvE, did nHrC on my magplar, poped shield then last boss did mechanic, gone in 2 seconds, and HrC is easy in normal, shield is mostly an insurance.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Not sure if trolling, but somebody apparently took this seriously.

30% damage reduction from resistences outweighs the additional 8% to 18% damage taken from crits. Especially since those 8% to 18% only happen at a chance. Even at a 100% crit chance 30% > 18% > 8%. And keep in mind the base damage of the crits is also reduced by resistences, meaning the 1.5 or 1.6 multiplier is applied to a lower value effectively reducing the actual crit damage taken even further. (1*(1-0.3)*(1.5-0.42)) = 0.756 = 75.6% of unmitigated/tooltip damage instead of 150%. Which is only slightly higher than the 70% of unmitigated/tooltip damage you take from non-critical attacks.

Both 75.6% and 70% are lower than the 100% damage shields took pre-Murk(s)mire. So why the hell do the melt faster?

Mine seem to last longer.. 3700 crit resist (with transmutation up) - and 21k resists.

But I think its partly due to the extra mobility from running boundless - and less mobility my stam opponents run.
    Minalan owes me a beer.

Use Pariah set with Troll King and the Magicka bone pirate(I keep forgetting the name). Thank me later.

Basically just a tank with zero damage? While stamina is stacking two damage sets??

You’ll make up the dmg with the fewer GCDs you need to use up spamming shields

    To a certain extent.

You get a longer offensive window to apply pressure for sure, but sorc can't capitalise on a pressure-based playstyle without any DoTs or defile. You won't kill any tanky target with decent HoTs.

Sorc has always been about lining-up that burst combo and warding in between, and you can't do that effectively with all the sacrifices you make to run heavy.
