Shields are total trash in pvp

Is it the same for you too, guys?

My shields melt so fast it's crazy it's pointless to fight any stamina class and magplars/magdks just rekt me too

What to do? Resistance is pretty pointless. Critical dmg to shields is just insane even with 2,7k critical res and bleed builds just laugh at me...

Any advice?

You’ll make up the dmg with the fewer GCDs you need to use up spamming shields

They're not trash. They still work, but you just gotta adjust your set-ups and stuff to make it work this patch.

i dont care about resistances or a cap because my shield in noncp was about 9k before the patch and i prefer to dodge or block. the worst thing is an absence of decent healing. now everything is going through your shield and you are playing like a basic stamina build but without vigor.

And I don’t think a single Stam class with those builds you describe can sit 40 meters away and pummel people to death from safety. Risk to reward.

Don’t get me wrong I’m guilty of it too. I ran amber and shackle on a magic sorc.

It was
41k Max
3800 SD
3k magic recovery
1800 Stam recovery
50% crit

I didn’t build for ANY defense yet I could still face tank 3-5 people forever. While also killing them all. Sorc is now about mobility and position while all range kit.

I would love to have those same stats on a Stam Character without begging the Eso gods for every damage increase proc set to all line up at the same time.

As all magic sorcs said for everything

What some people fail to grasp is that a significant number of us ENJOYED the MagSorc build in PVE with it's strong shield. It was our primary defense because that's the way the class was designed. Now the PVP'ers going 1v1 with a sorc spamming shield stacks had reason to complain, but that was a very small percentage and should have been handled specifically rather than taking the broad nerf axe to all shields. Personally, I never had any issues in PVP against players with shields, but I tend to play in 8-12 person siege groups who work together to take down opponents.

For anyone to dictate how another should play and enjoy the game is nonsense. No one, outside of PVP, wanted this change. NO ONE! Instead we get theory crafters who gave more credence to their isolated ideas than feedback from people who actually play the game. I'm sure they seriously thought it would make the game more interesting and fun. It didn't. Total unnecessary overkill that removed a very significant amount of enjoyment from the game.

I get shield users will just have to adapt to the game play to counter the loss of shield defenses. I can still solo dungeons and run through vet content. My pathetic little shields don't save me anymore when the healer goes down. I'll learn to live with it and adjust, but really, I've yet to hear one good and logical reason why.

According to ZoS the nerfs were due to PvE content so maybe stop blaming PvP players for that senseless crap.

Other than that as op said Shield are utter garbage in PvP and were bad even before these nerfs.

I'm mag sorc 98% of time. And I'm absolutely fine in PVP, both as a regular sorc and pet sorc. Few changes had to be made (no armour changes though), especially for my regular sorc, but it was worth it. My sorc is now even better than before.

Also, what I've seen so far in Cyrodiil, good sorcs remain good sorcs, bad sorcs are, well, bad.

Better? How so? Just curious. New sets? I don’t remember any sorc skills getting buffed. Did you have to sacrifice some damage?

It will probably be adjusted. Some of the buffs don't make much sense.

World in Ruin: Increases the damage of Flame and Poison area of effect abilities by 6%.
Decreases the Stamina cost of your Poison ability by 25%.

For a DK endless snipe? 1 button warrior.

I can't comment seriously on BGs because there will always be a broken build. Daedric Mines looks like a good defensive tool. Volcanic Rune as well. Melee classes have one approach towards your sorc and it is a straight line consequently you can always put the mines inbetween you and them. Mines explode off GCD so that is a good way to stack damage.

5k seems pretty low for two damage sets tbh.

For no cp bgs at least, my sorc still gets along fine. If healing is your issues try twilight and crit surge making sure u got decent crit also mines help out a bit too when stammies pop several of them.

Robes of Transmutation + Balance + hot for the proc to get crit res up + armor buff. There aren't (any?) many monsters helms or weapons sets that cater to shield overheal + 20k- health pool. It was probably never a thing before nerf because shields worked just fine while health pool toons needed sets to keep them alive because they have to fight sorc shields? If there were such a thing as HoT shields that worked with troll king or earthgore(no clue how the proc would work) it might put them on level maybe?
