One of the nicest things I liked about the way Rift did their housing, was that there was a list that everyone on the server could see and you could visit anyone's house.
They also added a nice touch by having a leader board of sorts - whereby you either liked a house or not and gave it a +1.
Some of the houses in Rift were amazing as they were crafted from the ground up. I'm sure ESO has some fantastic houses as well but we never get to see them in the flesh. It's only on vids and forums that you get to see ppls creations.

One last thing - only being able to visit someones primary residence is so restrictive and needs to be changed.

I completely agree! Housing was similar in EQ2 also. When someone finished a house, sometimes they would announce it in General Chat or Housing Chat and invite everyone to come visit. We could vote on the homes, and those who got enough votes would get a trophy furniture item. It was lots of fun to open the mail and find a trophy waiting. One time, I got mail from a stranger telling me that she had visited my home, and the torture chamber made her laugh. Made my day! :-D

So, yes, I also wish we could have more freedom visiting each other's homes.

Why can't I leave a house open to the public, put a price on every furnishing in there, and anyone can go in, pick it out and take it home at the set price.
