I don't really want to sound rude or taxing, but a lot of players rely on Steam to play their games. Many of us have "real-lives" and all we want is to play some ESO after a long a day. I'm a college student and I have a crappy schedule. All I want is to login and relax, do my thing and then call it a night. I think it would only be fair to actually provide players with some sort of compensation, especially since they might miss out on daily missions and store opportunities.
It seems like EU is broken and that's my main server where all my DLCs, purchases and unlocks are. I can't even login through other means and this is just unacceptable.

Try go to your steam apps, and go \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client
and launch from there. worked for me.

I tried using the normal launcher, nothing. I tried using the direct client, nothing. I can't login unless I'm using Steam.

As I understand it, that will indeed be the case unless you linked an original ESO account with your Steam account prior to December 2016.
Geez, the hostility in here...

And what password did you input in the password field? I don't have a password because I use Steam to login... so what did you put in there?
"Only the Aldmeri—the High Elves and their noble allies, the Wood Elves and Cat-Men—have the wisdom and restraint to peaceably rule the disparate peoples of Tamriel. [...] Men always follow the destructive path of their defender and apologist, the Missing God whom we shall not name. [...] The world has gone wrong, and we must put it right. March proudly beneath the eagle banner of the Aldmeri Dominion! "
