Maintenance for the week of January 5:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – January 5
• NA megaservers for maintenance – January 7, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 10:00AM EST (15:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – January 7, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 10:00AM EST (15:00 UTC)

Is there going to be compensation for this?

Always happens after ZOS update the server.... but it has nothing to do with ZOS right?

Has to be a repeat coincidence

It is a real funny "coincidence" since its only ever the Steam version that has login trouble. But nah, it couldn't possibly be an issue on Steam's side.

My serious advice to anyone with the Steam version of the game is to abandon the Steam version the first chance you get. Buy the full version of the game off the ESO store and apply it to your account, it will move you off the Steam version, then its just a matter of uninstalling the Steam version and downloading the normal version of the client.

    ZOS has never done compensations.

@Dymence false, a select few of their fanboys were compensated after the CWC disaster

I played another MMO via Steam and it continually hosed my audio. I'd find a work around and be fine for a few weeks, then it would do it again. The last time it happened I couldn't fix the loss of audio, uninstalled Steam, which didn't resolve the issue, and I had to reinstall Windows. Admittedly, the core problem is likely how my PC/Windows handles audio out via HDMI to my somewhat elaborate audio system, but I have not had a recurrence of the issue since killing Steam. And given the issues Steam users have in accessing ESO, there's simply no way I'd ever go back.

Except it was affecting Steam EU, not Steam NA...so it comes back to ZoS, just like @Morgul667 said.

And I'm referring to ZoS's server selection of EU vs NA...so, yeah, not a steam issue, a ZoS one. Again.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

Ability to have all your games in one place, great sales, and a platform for Indie devs to be seen.

    Not necessary for MMOs

Why does anyone run a game through Steam when they don't need to? When I find out a game is Steam only, I don't play it.

No, that still comes back to Steam, Steam has its own servers that the client runs through and if the EU Steam Network servers are borked, well you can't login if you're going through the EU servers. If the problem was ZOS these login issues would happen to non-Steam users as well, but they never do.

It's in the terms and conditions that unless the server is down for 3 days in a row on a certain server they don't need to compensate. Plus seeing as you bought the game through Steam there's probably a whole other set of rules & regs that you agreed to without reading.

I don't really want to sound rude or taxing, but a lot of players rely on Steam to play their games. Many of us have "real-lives" and all we want is to play some ESO after a long a day. I'm a college student and I have a crappy schedule. All I want is to login and relax, do my thing and then call it a night. I think it would only be fair to actually provide players with some sort of compensation, especially since they might miss out on daily missions and store opportunities.

It seems like EU is broken and that's my main server where all my DLCs, purchases and unlocks are. I can't even login through other means and this is just unacceptable.

    @Maulclaw

If you buy a regular ESO key and redeem it on your ESO account page, you'll have access to login through ESO64.exe or through the regular launcher.

It's just a workaround and not ideal, but I consider the $10 for a cheap key somewhere well worth being rid of the Steam login headaches forever.
