Well, the first thing I'd say is, forget you ever stated this. You might think you have a solid rotation that you can execute with very few mistakes, yet your dummy dps is below 18k. The thing you have to accept is, gear won't give you the dps boost you're looking for. It's the rotation. Light attack weaving, keeping up dots, casting skills in the right order. You could wear any basic magicka set and still do 30k+ if you do the most efficient rotation near-perfectly. There is something fundamentally wrong going on in your rotation. Maybe you misunderstood the rotation you read about, maybe you don't weave light attacks, don't keep up dots, or something like that. I'd say you should either wait for Alcast to make a new MagNB video where he explains the rotation in detail (should be soon), or find another youtuber who does that and pulls nice dps. Preferably look for Summerset+ videos, the optimal rotation hasn't really changed since then.BozzyTheDrummer wrote: »Do I need trials gear in order to better my damage output???
No, you don't. Trial gear is nice, but not a must. Your current gear should theoretically allow you to reach far into the 30k+ dps range. Again, I can't stress it enough, don't have high expectations for gear, it won't give you the dps boost you're looking for. What you need is a rotation that really is solid.
If you were on PC/EU I'd gladly help you in game, but looks like your platform is XB/NA. You could also try to look for a helpful veteran player. Might be hard to find one among the elitists, but they exist.
I'll say the same thing I say to everyone who tells me they can't get good DPS with all 'BiS' gear, CP and rotation. It may be the rotation, but some times it clearly will not.
I was there for a long time. Didn't care to use my main because the BiS gear, all gold, CP where the gods of builds tell us to. Rotation like they show on videos. All I could manage was a meagre 30k. I tried everything. All the sets. All the foods. Poisons. Pots. It would not budge.
Until a friend looked at my setup and told me to dump it entirely. 'Use this instead'. I was dumbfounded because the rule of thumb is usually not to use those sets. But I went from barely getting 30k to going above 40k instantly. Went from being carried in vet dungeons and not wanting to do DLC ones to bravely mowing them down and hearing 'wow you got good deeps man.'
Bottom line? Don't religiously follow the 'BiS endgame' builds online. They assume you have every single buff running on you and debuff on the enemy. You will NOT have this in 99.9% of the content, so you will not get those values.
Hint: check your pen.

I tried it again just now, and really, really paid attention to keep my DoTs up as much as possible. My number this time was just over 20k. So that is a step in the right direction.

This is using both sets of Necropotence and Julianos paired with grothdar, with food buff and spell power pots. I run the lover stone with him because I put out the most damge with that stone. I have stopped playing this guy as my main DPS because I am starting to despise the PetSorc build.
I have since created a MagBlade build for PvE DPS. I am cp584. I am following Alcasts Azure build pretty closely to the gear setup #2 that uses BSW/Mothers Sorrow.Skoria.
On my MagBlade, I have 5/5 Burning Spellweave - 5/5 Mothers Sorrow and 2/2 Valkyn Skoria. Almost all my armor is Divines/Max Magicka Enchants (Purple Armor with Gold Glyphs). The only pieces of armor that I have left to transmute are both Skoria pieces ,which I will make Infused. My jewelry (BSW) are all arcane with gold spell damage enchants.
My front bar staff is an infused Burning Spellweave inferno staff (purple) with a flame enchant (gold glyph). My backbar staff is an infused Mother Sorrow inferno staff (purple) with a weapon damage glyph (gold).
The skills on my fron and back bar are the exact same as Alcasts Azure MagBlade build (https://alcasthq.com/eso-magicka-nightblade-build-pve/) I have inner light on back at too, not channeled acceleration.
I have a very solid rotation right now that I execute with very few mistakes on a practice dummy. Using the lover again with this build, as I put out more damge than I do with the thief and apprectice stone. I use withmothers potent brew for food and essence of spell power pots.
It takes me 2 minutes and 50 seconds to kill a 3 mil test dummy and the most DPS I have done with this build is 17,649. I can solo world bosses, pub dungeons, normal group dungeons and with my group, we steamroll through Vet dungeons (non DLC) with no problems whatsoever, and we a re a three man team without a healer.
But I am getting really frustrated because I want to know what I can do to get my DPS up? Do I need trials gear in order to better my damage output??? I don't know what else I can do.
I have taken this MagBlade into Vet Scalecaller just to see how he does. It was with a pub group, and the other DPS was lower Cp than myself. It was a cool group, we wiped many, m,any times over few hours. But we stuck with it. We made it to the final boss and wiped many more times (mainly due to the statues cone mechanic. But my point is, I feel like between myself and the other DPS, we did so-so.
I'm really drawing a blank as to what I can do to better my DPS.
Any help, advice, criticism is appreciated.
Edit: also worth noting, I think, that although my DPS on my MagBlade is less than my PetSorc, I kill enemies/mobs/bosses a LOT faster than I do on my Sorc.

Making healer and tanks solves the issue
For me making an magic build who is not primary an healer is kind of pointless.
