How active does ESO feel to you these days?

I've been here since the PC launch and have seen the ebb and flow of player concurrency spike and dip over the years. This time of the year in particular has always felt like a slow time in the game every year since launch. But it does seem to be a bit lower than previous years (except perhaps 2014) right now.

My sense of this is highly subjective and I'm basing it primarily on how long it takes a random dungeon queue to pop when I'm queued as a healer. Typically it has always been a minute or less to get a group but on NA PC I've had to wait as long as 10 minutes recently and typically about 5.

I'm interested in hearing particularly from those who play on different megaservers. What's your experience like?

Well yesterday evening there was a pretty long queue for vicec, so i’d say still a pretty active population.

Solo/anti-social people are still abundant (so my option choice just represents my prefered demographic/group players). Get told to 'f*** off this isnt a multiplayer game* quite a few times just for asking someone if they want to group lmao.

Groups and PvP/MMO style things are way down these days. Which isn't surprising. New mechanics are iffy at best, if at all and they stopped targeting us some time ago anyway. Cyrodiil is broken and forgotten. The list goes on.

You simply don't notice the presence of solo people. They are there, they just exist in their own little world. Probably why.

I can only judge from my own experience and perspective, of course... and from that PoV, it depends on what metric you use to judge... if you look at the activities in (trading) cities and zones... it seems as if everything is normal, as same as it has been. I use to stay in Reaper's March and Velyn Harbor and there's always people there, all the time.

But if you judge from the quantity and quality of activities, to me it seems it's decreasing... I don't see people calling for activities (going from what happens on my guild chats and the chat from the zones I visit, at least.)

To me it seems that the quantity of people that is here for the MMO side of things is decreasing, but it might be very well that the quantity of people that plays the game casually and just quests and stuff is the same or is increasing, IDK.

In my own case, the end-game activities in all my guilds is at the lowest level that it has ever been... no one asks for anything, no one organizes anything, etc.

I used to have several trials scheduled per week and had to manage my schedule to be able to participate... but that was one and a half years ago... now, there's zero trial activity in all guilds except one, where they do one trial per week.

Perhaps, it might be that the new content that was added is too difficult for the level of guilds I belong so the people is able to do that kind of content doesn't call in them, and at the same time the rest of the people is tired of doing the same old content as always... I'm just extrapolating ofc.

But the sure marker is that the non-trade guilds on which I am, have decreased in number of online players since some time ago... used to be around 20 to 30 players online all days, now it's lucky if there are 10 at the peak of the day.

Much more active right now, that might just be due to the events though.

I actually got placed in a log-in queue on PC EU Sunday evening, something I haven't seen since release.

PC EU. I often make new characters - I'm trying to create a truly "racial" look. So, I often appear on Summerset starting place and often go to Whailing Prison.
What I see in Summerset: new players keep coming. It is easy to tell that they are totally new to the came. While I was examining my newly done Reachmen witch, trying hairstyles and tattooes, I noticed about a dozen of newcomers to pop out near me.
Whailing Prison is a mystery to me - a lot of people have this location as a starting zone. Quite a lot of. Where do they get the version of the game that old??

I'm on PC EU and play almost exclusively open-world PvE and the game seems about the same to me, with some things busier than normal because of the Halloween event.

I've been doing a world boss once a day on my crafter for event tickets (and by extension dremora skulls) and I had to move him to a remote boss in Summerset to get them. Because he's a crafter he's only level 34 and has very few combat skills and is pretty much always going to be the lowest DPS there so I need a boss which reliably has less than 12 people doing it and I kept finding too many people showed up at the others, until I found one way out on the edge of nowhere. Even then when I log in there's usually another person waiting for it to spawn and at least 4-5 people will show up before anyone starts, without any prompting in zone chat.

When I've been on other characters in other areas of the game I see about as many people as normal. Of course I haven't been counting but I've never found myself alone in an area.

It might be that fewer people are queuing for random dungeons at the moment. We've got a special event going on which is encouraging people to do a wide variety of content, a new story DLC was just released and there were major balance changes which might have made some people reluctant to keep running random dungeons with PUGs until they've got their build sorted out and are familiar with it again. Or maybe more people are queuing as healers now.

    Depends where u look.
overland, delves, pub dungeons: theres is far far more ppl than ever before. cant do any of those w/o constantly running into other players. pre-ot, silver and gold where deadlands. could play in there for hours w/o ever meeting another player.

"LFM 4key pledges" gets the typical low response ratio.

vDLC and vTrials, anyone still doing those? Feels like once a month someone (<120 CP) asks for a grp and everybody runs for cover.

Yes more fake healers,, also more people who realize that you you just need to back bar an restro staff and add some healing skills to be an efficient healer in most dungeons, done this a lot myself.

I got an login queue popup today in the middle of day pc-eu, only seen that a couple of times like start of events or new releases.

Auridon & Other freshie zones - Ram packed with low levels.

Typical long term player zones - Absolutely dead
    BG's - Same loop of ~30-50 players
Cyro - Dead besides the freshly recruited Auridon/Started zone zergs.
IC - Completely barren (Besides whoever has boosted emp with wall repairs, farming telvar)
PVE - 2/3 teams running content against themselves.

    vMSA - Magplar - Xbox EU - 15/11/16
    578,000 - 36 Minutes 58 Seconds (Top 2 World?)

nDSA is popular because of the event.

Talking from a Pvp perspective, I have never seen cyro so empty since 1t (never played Pvp before). At 9pm Berlin time on EU vivec is not fully locked for all factions (yet not decline in lag lol), bg queues are infinite and super buggy just as when morrowind dropped, and the dueling spot is empty. Not a surprise, but still sad to see

I play another game and I can tell you this; this game feel much more populated and this game has regional servers whereas the other MMO I play does not. There are days where my screen takes 5-10 minutes to load because of the activity in the area where I left my character is high.

I think part of the reason this game is doing well as of late is the free daily login rewards. It got me back into the game and a few people I know quit other mmos just because they like this game enough not to play the others. Not sure how end game is for ESO as I have yet to reach it as I am enjoying the leveling missions and I heard that quite a bit of this game can be done solo almost like a RPG. The only thing I wish is that our non-combat pets would be combat-pets. Nothing over the time or powerful but just a bit of help when you are not in a group.

Like all MMOs though this game will go through flows of highs and lows. New content typically results in a flow of players coming into the game and as the content becomes a couple months old true end gamers without much to do will leave after a few months. Than until the next piece of content to be released the game population may seem low. Add to this when content has a class balance patch and it may impact population as players may get upset about the changes and quit; this is especially true for players that only want to play DPS, rarely do tanks or healers quite due to an update, most of the support players quit do to bordem as they are the first to get into content and typically are requested to run it 2-5x more often than a DPS resulting in bordem happening.

ESO population IMO is a bit higher than I last remember it.

It feels lower than usual BUT you need to remember the game is much more spread out now than it was before. So many more zones, dungeons, things to do, etc...

So, its quite possible the game could be more active than ever, just much more spread out.

After the single role selection in Summerset the queue times for healer went up for me. Previously it was 30s - 3 minutes. They went up to nearly 15 min in some cases. Right now they seem to hover somewhere around 3-5 minutes. For a magicka character it's easy to transition to a healer. While I dont condone fake roles, they're not always hard to fake.

The queue times over all seem to have jumped up a little after that update, so I doubt that the queue times are indicative of the number of players playing as much as they are about the roles they're choosing.
