Toss the non-golded sets you don't actually use that aren't too hard to farm. Yes, inevitably they become the meta again, but hey, in the meantime you'll have bank space again!

Returning player after over a year+

Have ESO+, fully upgraded bank and 7 characters with fully upgraded inventories.

Really just looking for some good general tips that I can implement right away,

Housing and Housing Storage is a bit of a far off goal at the moment and definitely something I'm working towards. Can always created more characters, but for right now I want to focus on farming the event as much as possible.

As for sets I've yet to get around to really researching much of anything so I've just been hanging onto pretty much any set items I find. Used to only keep blue and above, but now I'm hesitant to deconstruct even green items. Don't want to get rid of an item with a perfect trait and at the sametime also want to hold on to non-dungeon looted set items for selling in the future, trading guild/guild trader are/is another thing I haven't really gotten around to setting up/looking into too much yet.

I've already started trimming items with some not so great traits that are a little more obvious(reinforced, defending, etc). For armor I've been holding onto Sturdy, Invigorating, Well Fitted, Inpreg, and Divines, for weapons I've been holding onto Sharpened, Precise, Infused, Decisive, Powered for Restoration Staves and Charged for Destruction Staves.

What would help the most right now are some good tips/rules of thumb that I can start implementing right way

Mistake. Good traits contribute to our...I mean the TC's issues

Research is the answer to hoarding. You keep it because you don't know if you will need it later. So ask yourself what you really want your endgame builds to look like. Look into the available sets and make a decision. You could even use a site like the UESP Build Editor (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Special:EsoBuildEditor) to brainstorm ideas. Once you know exactly which sets you want to have your characters set up with, then you can disregard all others. You may end up with several loadouts for each character depending on the content they are doing (like a PvE loadout and a PvP loadout). If the pieces you find that are not part of these sets are worth money, sell them on a guild store. If not, decon for research xp or vendor them. Don't keep any set that you don't see yourself using in the next 6 months.

The exception to this could be monster helms/shoulders and ability altering weapons like those from vMA. Since there is so much RNG with these and they are not purchasable on the guild store or easily farmable, it's worth keeping one of each type. Don't get too caught up with the trait. Transmutation is an easy fix for that. It doesn't take very long to farm 50 transmutation gems.

So go do the work of understanding which sets you personally really see value in and then purge all else with confidence.

How about an ESO++ monthly sub that triples bank space but costs 2x as much? I think they should offer that.

If you haven't used it in the last seven days, then you probably won't use it. Decon it. Decon as you go. Decon stuff whenever you find a craft station; make the decision then and there.

All the components your deconned items will sell. The item you're hanging onto might not. If that item is not bound to your account, then there's another clue.

    Otherwise, as suggested:

    Haggling: you're doing it wrong.

IRL= If you dont use it in a 12 month period, get rid of it.
In game = Everything that you have acquired once can be acquired again. Thus if your not using it right now sell it or scrap it.

If it's not a set you're actively using, keep only the weapons, maybe the jewelry if it was hard to get, and any pieces you've already golded out if you think it likely they'll be used again someday soon.

And you might want to hold onto any armor piece that are in the ideal traits, too. Just so you don't have to redo the grind later.

Even if something is the wrong trait, but the right weight (Monster head/shoulders mostly here), you wanna keep it for transmuting eventually. Not always easy to get the right weight of what you need with those.

Plus you'll wanna keep those uniquely named set pieces as well. Those can be pretty neat.

    Don't forget to...

    oh god...

    AM I A HOARDER?!?!

I have just started to delete stuff. Again!

First went down to only good traits, now still too much. Now I am just going to start and delete some complete sets that I think are useless. Such as Sithis' Touch, Tormentor, Prayer Shawl, Treasure Hunter, Spelunker and most Undaunted sets except Infiltrator. I plan on pretty much keeping the weapons for sets since they seems to be the hardest to come by but armor is getting sold

The first step is to NOT keep one of every trait for research, that's over 400 slots right there. From your inventory, research the most important traits first because the late ones take literally 2 months and you'd rather be able to craft something already. You will always find more traits for research, or do what I do and commission research items from guildies.

(for example: I start with armor: divines, impregnable, infused, training and nirn. Weapons: sharpened, nirn, infused, precise and training for the heck of it)

My bank was always full. I realized I was keeping all these old shoulder and helm armor pieces that were not monster set pieces, only I now only use monster sets for the shoulders and head. I took all the non-monster ones out and deconstructed them all, and now I have about 20 extra slots in my bank just from that. LOL.

    Kill your darlings.

Take 1 hour of your time. Set an alarm. Go into your bank and inventory. Unless it´s a gold piece, a piece that is extremely hard to get, or a set you know you will use, it has to go. Period. I had this issue too, eventually you just need to get over the hurdle and deconstruct. It will be a huge quality of life improvement. Unlock, spam decon hotkeys E + R. I used to have a bunch of knigh-errant stuff. I still think it is a useful set. But did I use it? Nope. So now I only have 6 pieces left in the bank, 2 of which are jewelry and 1 weapon since they are harder to get for a dungeon set. Might try to combine it with Blackrose prison weapons. Or it might have to go.

Mighty Chudan light head piece in well-fitted? Decon. I already have a gold medium helmet. I want a heavy, but not that much, and if I *need* it, I´ll suck it up and do the dungeon again and retrait my first heavy loot if necessary.

There is no reason to keep tons of items for trait research as you only need 1-2 researchers, you can buy scrolls to reduce research time, and once a trait is researched you can create that item, research it on an alt and 'spread' your research - if you want to do that for some reason. But do research right away. Keep research slots filled.

Personally I divided my research between 2 characters, my main speedrunning character and my 'slow questing' character.

Keep jewelry if you must keep something.

My bank now pretty much only has sets I realistically think I might use, plus assorted other stuff. The rest had to go. It was hard at first, but hoarding is a problem and getting better at getting rid of stuff is a skill. And there is no way to improve a skill if you don´t practice it.

You have to do what we in Sweden call a 'cleaning pull'.

    ....And those are?

Infused on head, chest, legs and I believe shield. Divines on everything else (and head, chest, legs, just infused is better on 'large enchant' pieces especially with tristat enchants). Impenetrable for PvP. Otherwise keep stuff if you have a personal use for it. Invigorating is considered bad, which only makes me want to put it on everything and make a massive regen build :#

Weapons - infused, sharpened, nirnhoned... precise I guess.

Oh and remember you can transmute to any trait that you have researched for that item.

It's harder now with transmute, I used to decon every bad trait. Now dungeon sets I keep, and purple jewelry aside from mega common stuff.

But I have a maxed bank, storage containers, a mule or two and still run out of space.

Containers are epic for monster helms/shoulders, vMA / Asylum weapons etc. I keep all them
