Things go wrong?Did i choose the wrong set?

I use 5 fortified brass+ 5 ebon ,and several monster sets for different circumstances
as I don't do trials , can only access craftable .dungeon and overland sets.
I know ebon is essential, but what set is in best compatibility with ebon?
I hv been told by some high-end players in game ,fortified brass is not a wise choice and not commonly-used.

Please help, thank you in advance .

Fortified Brass is fine unless it puts you over the resistance cap.

Torug's Pact is commonly paired with Ebon for better debuffs on the boss. So is Alkosh, but thats a trial set.

Other decent choices include Green Pact, Plague Doctor, Bahara's Curse, Livewire, Ironblood, and quite a few others I'm forgetting, depending on what type of tabk you want to run.

Imperium is also one of my favorites. Leeching Plate is good if you need to self sustain your health. I've also tanked with Sanctuary.

Alkosh is the standard accepted 2nd set though.

If your only doing group dungeons, having a "selfish" set like fortified isn't a big deal. Even Ebon isn't a huge deal. I like Ebon because there is nothing more annoying then watching your dps die like fly's, but it's also important to survive yourself.

If fortified brass is what you need to tank, than use it, you're giving some support via Ebon.

For dungeon's the main objective for me and others is getting through as fast and as painless as possible. Ebon helps with that. Increasing group dps and survivability is important to achieve that.

Alkosh or Torugs Pact + infused crusher are the main alternatives to your second set past ebon. Would help with dps. I'm sure there is other options too.

Plague Doctor and Lord Warden Dusk are pretty popular for tanking, you get some extra resists and lots of health.

I kind of like Warrior-Poet, it has more benefits now that only wardens can provide minor toughness

if you dont do trials plague doctor is your best bet for a base set. You can use ebon with it. Some other interesting sets are jorvulds( Scalecaller Peak), seducer (crafted), dragon (Eastmarch), werewolf hide (Glenumbra).

good monster sets are bloodspawn (spindleclutch), lord warden (imperial prison), mighty chudan (ruins of mazzutun) and pirate skeleton (blackheart haven)

I am using plague doctor+ebon+Lord Warden now.
Also respec my attributes to 30/0/34
