Magicka Sorcerer Shield Nerf?

Main reason for damage shield nerf: shieldstacking magsorcs in pvp, and some cheesy builds with 10k health and 20k+ shields. You could literally burst sorcs down to 5-10% hp when they would finally react with stacking all their shields, giving them more than enough time to go offensive with shields larger than their health pool protecting them, also consider shields could not take critical damage.

Secondary reason: PvE survivability of magicka dds. Most content is easier with 3 dds who can use damage shields making healers largely unnecessary as 3 dds will get the group enough dps to skip mechanics, further increasing survivability.

Shieldnerf is motivated by pve, not pvp.

thats not true. look up for your self in teh pvp threads, and on streames, and on youtube it was motivated by pvp and i dont even believe a damn thing what teh devs says in a cover story why did teh nerfed, everyone knows who is reading forums or watching pvp related streames or youtubers tehy are all cryied for sorc nerfs. Do your reasearch properly, and dont believe anything what teh devs says as a cower explanation.

you cant proove me wrong so stop bicthing with me. look up for your self and then post me dellusion memes.

I think I have much higher chance to prove You that You're wrong then You to prove that You're right. However since You're stating You know better why devs nerfed shields then devs themselves I dont see the point of talking to a wall.

Well at least i am not blinded like most of you.

The problem is blinded people dont see they're blinded so how do You know You're not blinded ?
Wow, ignorant much? You know, there are spectrums of blindness.

Now scaling max to 50% of max health..?
I assume this is an attempt for nerf for pvp but the only nerf it's doing for is PVE
Barely any change to the wards in PVP. but in PVE.. would get a 15k damage shield but now max 7k with hardened ward..

No it was a nerf because pve healers didn’t feel useful because of shields.

And my PVE healer who uses shields is...? What?

*sigh* no shields were generally mitigating so much damage that there was no point in healing half the time.

Yeah healers are buffing but not just buffing, their primary focus should and always be healing and this is why they got nerfed so that healers could actually forfill their role without DPS players shields making their role in the group near irrelevant in healing terms (made the game too easy).

    First magsorc run post murkmire:

Both deaths were because I was anim locked when I got hit with a lot at once, so bigger shields wouldn't have saved me. This was with the weaker, 40% cap sorc shield.

And just for good measure, first magden run post murkmire:
    sn57r8siwmi1.jpg
This death might have been prevented with a larger shield, but I'm not sure and am guessing not. This was with the stronger, 50% cap light armor shield.

But all in all, it's almost as if mag characters are still playable... speaking as a mediocre magdps player myself.

Off topic but would you mind sharing your magsorc vma set up in murkmire?

I've cleared a million times using mech acuity, moon dancer 3pc, asylum inferno, maelstrom lightning, and 2pc illambris. That set up still ok?

Because 99% of the ESO population plays like you right.. No so the masses get destroyed to suit epeeners like the top 1%..

    That is bad balancing..

    Especially as a business..

Good balancing doesnt mean handling out participation trophies. Learn to improve.

That sounds like it’d still work well! I rarely play magsorc so I probably don’t have the best advice, but here’s what I used for that run:
    Altmer sorc
    64 points into magicka
5-1-1 w/ zaan, scathing mage, and mechanical acuity (msa backbar)
Double inferno, double infused, arcane jewels, divines/infused on armor (invigorating shoulder bc rng)
1 large health enchant, the rest magicka
    Witchmothers brew
FB: crushing shock, hurricane, frags, empowered ward, inner light, storm atro [I forgot to test out the new energy overload. I’m expecting this will replace storm atro since I mostly only had it slotted for the extra spell damage anyway, and weaving light attacks that restore magicka sounds like a decent sustain buff]
BB: liquid lightning, haunting curse, blockade of fire, power surge, inner light, fiery rage
Use mostly trash mag pots bc I’m cheap, crafted mag pots when I need a bit more magicka
Probably should be vamp stage 2 but it’s ok w/o.

Nah, you choose to whine, instead of learning the game the hard way, like every stamina class has to do in PvE.

    L
    O
    L

Kid you're out to lunch. Stamina classes have much higher damage mitigation (light armor is 25% of the value of heavy armor, medium is 75% of the value of heavy armor), and because dodging and blocking cost stamina, not magicka, you have a larger pool for avoiding, interrupting, and mitigating damage. Magicka classes can't block or dodge as much, we have to eat hits more often, and are much squishier, shields were the only things making us viable.
