I am getting a refund too, hopefully, still waiting for them to confirm. I've not been able to get past any load screen to character creation or beyond.
I am having the same problem. Support hasn't been answering any tickets or emails. The few helpful posts on this page suggested some methods but it still hasn't fixed this issue. Hopefully ESO gets it together eventually. This game has a lot of potential but they have to do better with support on helping customers and they still have a lot of bugs to fix.

I been having a similar problem where I cannot even launch the game it just sits in the background and wont load. I waited for the official release to see if the patch would fix it to no avail, now I'm thinking 1 week after launch then attempt a refund. The thing that most people like 2nd poster doesn't realize that theres lots of people I speculate atleast a couple of hundred after following the board since pre release that have been having troubles. While the thousands who are able to play is still a heavy weighing tool to think otherwise theres still the minority. The thing that perplexes me the most is I was able to play betas just fine and even pre release day 1 I could launch the game, but then all of a sudden after a reinstall (continous login timeout) my system wouldn't even launch the game. The game is wonderful and the franchise is solid, Its just bad luck for some, customer service was on point with my ticket responding back to back the first couple of hours but after I sent them my System logs that they asked for, its been days since I've heard back from them, I'm not mad or angry at them its launch and I expect this kind of thing and actually am sorry for the harassment I'm sure they receive when people should know darn well things like this happen. Like the second poster said as long as they do give a prompt delivery on a refund there should be no complaints imho.

Did you try temporarily disabling your Anti-Virus Software?

If I have to disable anti-virus software to play a game, the game is deleted, and I go for a refund.

In 2014, there is no valid reason to build a game that requires the disabling of security software to play.
Technically if there was a problem like that then perhaps you have to set rules in your security software to allow it, if the security software is quite secure. Disabling it for a second to see if that is the problem could be useful, just so if anything you can rule out the security software as the problem.

Setting firewall rules to open some reasonable number of ports is one thing. Disabling AV is something else entirely.

And while I would agree that it is a good diagnostic, my point is that if the only way the game works is to disable security software, the problem is the game, not the security software.

There is no excuse for a developer who started work after 1990 to write software that REQUIRES the disabling of tools like anti-virus.

I've logged maybe around 150-200 hours and those hours could have been spent on another worthwhile product. If you read this and are contemplating buying this game, it's nothing like an Elder Scrolls title. I never felt immersed. Basically, this is a dumbed down game for children. Every quest has a waypoint/pin, the so-called "puzzles" are already completed and you need to go and press a button on the pieces, and the endgame content is more of the brainless quests. PVP or AvA is horrible, there is no cooperation(lack of VOIP/better grouping system), the population level indicators are to simple(causing players to be unaware to how many actually play on that campaign). The NPC's are way too easy to kill. To top it off, this game is played off as being"class-less" and you can supposedly play however you want but that is not true. The title is just a gimmick, this is not an Elder Scrolls title.

Necro's a thread that was made before official release: check

Necro's said thread to talk about something not even in the OP? check

Necro's to spam an elongated paragraph about mostly falsities about the game? check

    Time well spent.

How come no one ever says "Man I have bad luck, no idea why but this game just won't run on my PC" Instead of blaming the Dev's. I believe there was something about 300K of the game sold and obviously it isn't affecting the majority
People need to understand, this is the world of Microsoft. A glue that holds all sorts of various combinations of hardware together. Literally millions of combinations, sadly yes some people will have problems

I'm not sure how the Mac Community are doing, but in order to have the best guarantee of compatibility, they would need to buy a product where hardware and OS is regimented for minimal problems AKA Apple

Then get bombarded with "Mac's aren't for gaming ... yadda yadda"

50,000 of those seem to be BOTTING accounts, and just in case you missed ALL the people that are having issues...it's a lot more than just a few.

For those of you who purchased thru Gamestop...

If you try to return an opened game, they will most likely not refund the full purchase price and offer to give you the "buy back" price which is less than 50%. Know this: Their return policy is completely worthless. Every purchase is covered by the implied warranty protections of your state and the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). Google this if you need to.

After being rejected at my local Gamestop by the young manager, I completed the purchase survey (from the receipt). In that survey, I informed them that I would give them 3 days to respond to my request for a full refund or I would pursue this through small claims court. Within 1 hour, the district manager for Georgia called me, apologized several times, told me I could have a 100% refund, and asked me if he could "throw in anything else due to the inconvenience".

You can and should get a 100% refund from Gamestop. If needed the district manager in Atlanta GA can be contacted at (678)361-4077. Good luck!!!
