Murkmire dailies would be fun IF...

They were on a timer, and there were leaderboards/rewards for quick completion.

I've had the idea in the past to create a "courier" mode of game play, where the player is tasked with covering large distances to deliver messages.

What if every week there was a batch of courier quests that were similar to the Murkmire dailies and the goal was to complete them as quickly as possible? While on the quests, they would have to disallow or limit ports, and the timer would only be running when you were in-game so load screens wouldn't impact your score.

With the Murkmire dailies, I haven't been able to go faster than 40 minutes for all of them.

So many things can go wrong, you can get tagged by a world mob, you can make a bad route choice. Of course, player competition for limited resources also affects it. But all in all, setting a stop watch and trying to complete all six as quickly as possible is kinda fun...

Sorry, there's no way to make "run to 3 different places to search for things, then deliver them to an NPC and do a thing, then port back to the quest giver" fun for me.

Nor do I find competing with other players for limited spawns and kills fun.

With so many loading screams involved, the people with slower disks/connections would never stand a chance.

Only way to make it fair was if the path had no wayshrines involved so everyone was on the same level.

I haven’t started these yet. Are there motif rewards for doing them? I already know about the pet pieces.

Reward players for saying "Screw you buddy, I don't care that you are fighting that mob next to this node. I'm trying for leaderboard."

It's like you didn't read my post. The timer would only be running for in-game time, not load screens.

Imagine competing to be on the leaderboards for the mammoth quest and every mammoth you kill doesnt drop anything.

The idea was for courier quests, not pitting players against each other in resource farming.

My point was that with a little tweaking, they could have another game mode with appeal to at least some of the player base.

Completing (fair) courier quests on a timer, where you aren't competing with other players for spawns would actually be kinda fun.

Trying to beat my 40min best of all the Murkmire quests (without porting when it is more than 146g) was kinda entertaining.

I read the original post, but not closely enough. Seem to have missed that line. My bad.
In that case ... Oh HELL no. It would make it awful for anyone not interested in the leaderboards.

not even 30mins for me here, while watching League World champinships on the run...so no tyvm, not needed in this game

If you are such a leaderboard fan, get into a ggood endgame raiding Guild an run for leaderboards there.

I don't particularly like PVP, but I don't think pvp enhancement or new game modes are a bad idea.

If someone isn't interested in something , they don't have to do it.

Turning something into a race or a competition is certainly not my idea of fun. In any context, actually.

What would make it more fun for me is the removal of one of the daily quests. After I did it once, I just... I can't believe they wrote that into the game. Only one of my characters would ever do something like that... and she's a Bosmer, so she's weird and would be okay with it. I don't ever want to run that quest again.

The OP disallowed wayshrines, but not max speed mounts with rapid maneuvers.

But really, once you hit the speed cap, its all about pathing, and Ive got other things to do with my time than figure out the ideal fastest path to run to the three corners or Grahtwood then head to an NPC to barf in a cauldron to make an "antidote" I'm pretty sure is just a nasty hangocer cure...
