At last there is one Craft that is, in effect, only open to those who are true Masters of the trade.
Jewellery Crafting was never meant to be easy, so that Gold Jewellery becomes devalued. It should remain exclusive.
My all Crafts Master has enough Gold platings to take care of her own 'families' needs and do some Master Writs as well.
She has all necessary passives in every trade and the necessary CP allocation in the Green Tree. Her dps might be dreadful as a result but her Crafting, Harvesting and Deconstruction prowess is excellent.
We have had no need, so far, to delve into any of our JC Surveys; there are about 130 sitting in a chest. I am sure that there will be a fair few Gold and Purple grains from those, once we get around to cashing them in.

when has purple, blue and green jewelry has EVER been rare? and yet its STILl a major pain thanks to grains, when crafted.
STOP fixating solely on gold, folks. (and even then... WHY? WHY must it be rare?) and there is nothing particularly masterful about leveling jewelry crafting. its actualy faster to both level and research then any other craft.

Research yes, level no.
Leveling Jewlery crafting is lengthy as hell or expensive as hell. All other crafting stuff drops abundantly; i.e. robes for decon. etc. Jewlery, while semi-frequent enough, don't drop at nearly a high enough rate to put speed of leveling anywhere close to other crafting trees.
Since deconning is the fastest way to level those skill trees, it stands to reason that Jewlery crafting would take the longest, with the least abundant deconstruction materials available.
This only changes if you're willing to buy decon gear and right now the costs to get from 0-50 are over 600k with most basic green garbage being a minimum of 1000 gold a piece, and you needing literally hundreds upon hundreds of pieces.
Unless you have that kind of bank to drop on leveling 0-50, then in every single case Jewlery Crafting is the single lengthiest to level tree.

this may have been true when jewelry crafting was first introduced, but its far FAR more affordable now. a piece of jewelry is guaranteed to drop from a dolmen chest. there is about 50/50 chance of getting jewelry from random daily dungeon reward, and that's NOT counting whatever jewelry might have dropped in a dungeon itself. deconstructable jewelry is has significantly dropped in price on guild traders, along with research jewelry, but you honestly don't even have to buy it. even if you go very slow and steady, not rushing it and faring it yourself, leveling via daily writs and deconstructing rewards from it - you are still going to be done in roughly half the time it takes to level even woodworking, which is the fastest gear crafting profession to level and research.
it takes time yes. its not as easy to level as cooking or alchemy. most certainly. but leveling jewelry crafting is not out of line with other professions. crafting and upgrading it - is. THAT is the problem
the irony here is that we are actually on the same side, because what i'm arguing here is that there is nothing about jewelery crafting that justifies actual crafting and upgrading to be as annoyingly frustratingly BAD.

I can run a random dungeon and also walk away with 20 leather items for every 1 ring I get. I wasn't neccesarily trying to pick a fight with you but Jewlery certainly is bar none the longest tree to level. You're going to get 10x more Metal/Leather/Wood items in the same amount of time it takes you to get 1 jewlery piece and for those trees you don't even have to go out of your way to do it... Also prices still hover at 1k minimum per piece of decon gear on Ps4, I can't speak for other systems.
I can get enough materials to max any other crafting tree in a single day without even trying to farm for the stuff - I can't do that with Jewelry unless I sit and smash Dolmens for 12 hours.
Everything is bad - leveling included. In the last 3 months I've rolled up 5 new alts. None of them have Jewelery to 50 yet despite deconning all that comes my way, not even close, yet they all mastered the other 6 trees with no effort. That's the difference you actually have to force yourself to grind for Jewlery crafting, where with the other trees it all but comes naturally.
I pass everything I get on my main guy to these alts to power level their trees, I don't sell loot I obtain, it's all decon fodder... for every 1 piece of jewlery I obtain, I happen to have 10 more items of the other trees to pass along.. the only way this changes is with dedicated focus on jewlery and spending hours on end farming dolmens as you mentioned

1 million? On PS4 a plating is 120k standard.. so 480k per piece to gold out. Still disgusting, but I would hate to be a part of whatever market you're part of
