Would you like to have an option for seeing missed guildchat when relogging to another char

Title says it all. You know the feeling when you switch char from your crafter to another one(one of those 12 or some), and you miss half of all 5 guild chats that had some conversation being on, which you found to be interesting BUT any way you miss all awesome stuff there. Just because you dont have time for some reason and you gotta log to another charachter. Ples, @ZOS @GinaBruno @Randomgenerator @Anyone @Ineedthis

Yes that would be nice. In fact, since we are known in the system by our account names and not our character names I assumed it would be that way.

I have no idea how they’d implement it though.

I guess the solution in the mean time would be for the guild to prefer to chat in another application like Discord or Steam.

chat logs client side - could be fun on console but shouldnt be that hard
Anything server side is beyond possible, after all the poor hamsters can no longer tell if you are in combat or not, much of the time, how are they going to be able to figure out scrolling back

While we're at it, leave chat working while in loading screen. So that we can communicate with the rest of the group and tell them we're not slacking, we're just stuck.

It works great.

Edit; One of numerous settings will save recent chat as OP suggests.

With that I expect a reply that console cannot use this addon and of course they are right. However, Zos clearly decided to put minimal effort into building out their UI, even though they had originally build a full normal MMORPG UI early on. Zos has kept to tis decision adding very little to the game UI since then. Just stating the obvious.

As far as i know the pChat doesn't save the chat at time when you are offline(relogging to another char).I know an Android game that has this option, no matter when you log in and with what char, you see the chat from 30 minutes behind which is actually very awesome funcion to have.

@idk thanks for the recommendation, I'll check that out. I miss my chat logs and Bnet social history from WoW, so this might not be that bad an alternative. Considering how friends are added and guilds joined are account features rather than character ones, I don't think it's a bad thing for us to be able to converse as players rather than characters.

It also permits receiving a ping when someone whispers you. The sound notification helps but it only works on whispers.

@idk Yep pChat is awesome addon, i do have it on all chars but it doesnt remove the offline chat problem. You do see chat you received in that char when you were online, it even remember all chat earlier you were online, but when you go offline there is chat missing.

It is what we have and Zos is unlikely to change this in the basic UI since they have added so little. More so, what you are asking is probably not so simple as it may require server side buffering to accomplish. When changing characters we seem to be interacting with a different server system.

Best option for offline communication is probably Discord which also have text chat nowadays which can be drawn above fullscreen surface of game.

One reason that ingame chat wouldn't work during loading screens is that chat wouldn't be rendered or updated.

This happens even when Discord is active above the surface of game and you would have problems to even respond during the most intensive processing when there is a load screen going on. All four cores work at 100% when this happens, which means that game client need to finish processing whatever data it is working on before it can work on anything else incl register key strokes in chat window.

But after loading screen you can see the chat have had going on some convo so the chat is going on background even when loadingscreen is up. Reloadui clears everything though. I'm talking about ability to read offline chat from all 5 guilds from 30 minutes behind. Even Android game has this option since 2 or maybe 3 years, but yeah this is ESO.

Guild chat is mostly dead in my guilds as nearly everyone has moved to discord. I’d rather see in-game options improve so I could drop discord, but that will never happen.

The current chat system is weak, like almost all the GUILD features (such as the way of displaying a guild nameplate, and the lack of Guild House system in Homestead)

Four years later, I'd say this is the next aspect of gamedesign you'll have to work on, dear ZoS devs

I'm constantly missing out on tells and guild chat when zoning, much less when switching characters. Something I really miss from another MMO- the chat window was visible (and usable) while zoning. I love pChat but the base game itself could REALLY use a variety of improvements to basic functions, chat being one of them. Hey ZOS, just because your consumers care enough about the game to create and maintain amazing addons doesn't give you the right to shirk all duties with regards to QoL features. They don't get paid for that, YOU do. As a PC gamer, I can do naught but feel immense pity for the poor console gamers who are unable to use the addons that elevate this game so much.

When someone in guild chat asks for help and I have to switch characters... I come back and I'm "uuuum did XXx_lordFargyleXXX15 want help or was it Xx_deathFarlordxX76?"

That, in effect, would amount to integrating a full-fledged internet messenger into the game... which, I must say, is a terrific idea. ^^ And I would welcome that.
