Maybe you should directly ask someone if you can join their guild instead of asking the community or zone chat to respond. Because if you are talking to everyone, you really are talking to nobody.

I sent off messages to a number of guilds for both my NA and EU account.
Some of the posts if the forum are older and so the guild may no longer be recruiting. It is not personal.
Just try a few different ones that match what you are looking for.

I ended up in two fantastic guilds, one in the NA and one in the EU server.
Sadly had to give up on the NA server, only so much play time and I am more EU than NA.

I see guild recruitment in almost every zone chat. Hang out in your factions starting and capital zones, then contact ones that seems like a good fit for you.

Very few players look at in game zone chat (or voice chat) that are in active guilds. It's a catch-22 really, and there are no good mechanisms in place to find a guild that you might like. I looked for a while before I found a social guild that I fit in with. I mostly searched active guilds in the guild recruitment threads and tried on a couple before finding what worked.

Playing on Xbox, I just wasn't sure what I would find, but it worked out. I will say, that many of the guilds that do actively accept members from the threads aren't on the forums every day. Give them a couple of days before giving up on them.

This is one aspect that I don't understand about ESO. I get that the heritage of Elder Scrolls is single player, but ESO is not and needs ways for players to be able to find one another in game (aside from being randomly thrown into a dungeon with other people that never speak and speed run the entire thing). I guess they figured we would all try to talk to each other over voice coms in general or that everyone would be fully participating in voice or text chat in dungeons. Perhaps one of these days we'll have a feature that helps out with that. Until then, the forums are pretty much your best hope.

Fundamentally I think this comes down to the issue of mega servers and themepark MMO design. Outside of your guilds and Cyrodiil PVP (which exists outside of the mega server structure), there's no reason to interact with others.

This isn't exclusive to Elder Scrolls Online but the mega servers don't help.

Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 11 years. 8 paid expansions. 29 dungeon and zone DLCs. 45 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. Just because Cadwell Silver&Gold failed doesn't mean the game should be brain dead easy forever.

"ESO doesn't need a harder overland" on YouTube for a video of a naked level 3 character w/ no CP allocated AFKing in front of a bear for a minute and a half before dying if you don't believe me change is needed.

ESO is a single player game, due to very poor design choices (using a really bad homebrew engine instead of something like Unreal 4, all dungeons being public except Trials, more emphasis on cash shop than content etc) by the devs. There are things they could do to change that, but they won't or due to the poor performance can't.

Considering how many dungeons there are, it's interesting to think that "there's no reason to interact with others" could ever be valid. I mean, we certainly survive without any forms of communication... but that's a necessity often enough, not a preference.

Welcome to the world of MMOs

Where the idea is to work and play together, yet nobody can bother to do that because Devs make everything so simple you don't have to work with anybody.

I long for the days of EQ 1 and even the early days of WoW. Games like EQ and UO were to far in requiring groups but still some of my best friends were met while playing the game and bonding over something that happened.

WoW though hit it perfectly at launch. Every zone you could solo 90% of or so, but there were quest or random enemies that required a group which forced you to talk to people, again I've met a few life long friends from 2004-2008 or so before they started making everything just face roll content.

After about 2008 every MMO you can basically solo everything except a couple dungeons here and there and Trial/Raid. So everybody just puts on the blinders and gets mad anytime they feel somebody stole their kill or something.

I can't wait for games like Pantheon to come, made by Brad McQuaid dev of EQ, but in all reality I know I won't have time to actually play it. There is another one called Chronicles of Elyria, but again it's so in depth I know I don't have time to play at this point in my life, but these two games are going to be throw backs to those old days where you couldn't just be an *** to everyone and still accomplish everything in the game.

I try to help as many people as I can, but you have to understand most people could be playing together or just don't want to spend 10-30 minutes doing a normal dungeon. I've got to the point where I go "ugh" if someone asks me to help them. I've probably spent 300-350 hours helping people/my guild
  • silvermistktralasub17_ESO
During the times I'm active, i try to at least keep a reasonable eye on zone chat, though that's less helpful during writ time, when I'm logging in and out constantly. I also try to invite people to guild quite often. You just have to keep looking. We are out there, and often recruiting. It's just that, sometimes, we end up missing the people who need us. but we do try, and that's true of a lot of guilds.

The Place by Tony Walsh Please Read
This is the place in the North West of England

It’s ace, it’s the best and the songs that we sing

From the stands, from our bands set the whole planet shaking

Our inventions are legends! There’s nowt we can’t make and

So we make brilliant music. We make brilliant bands

We make goals that make souls leap from seats in the stands

And we make things from steel and we make things from cotton

And we make people laugh, take the mick summat rotten

And we make you at home and we make you feel welcome

And we make summat happen, we can’t seem to help it

And if you’re looking for history then yes, we’ve a wealth

But the Manchester way is to make it yourself

And make us a record, a new number one

And make us a brew while you’re up, love. Go on!

And make us feel proud that you’re winning the league

And make us sing louder and make us believe it

that this is the place that has helped shape the world

And that this the place where a Manchester girl

Name of Emmeline Pankhurst from the streets of Moss Side

Led a Suffragette City with sisterhood pride

And this is the place with appliance of science

We’re on it, atomic, we strut with defiance

In the face of a challenge we always stand tall

Mancunians in union delivered it all

Such as housing and libraries, and health, education

And unions and co-ops, the first railway station

So we’re sorry! Bear with us! We invented commuters!

But we hope you forgive us – we invented computers!

And this is the place Henry Royce strolled with Rolls

And we’ve rocked and we’ve rolled with our own Northern Soul

And so this is the place to do business, then dance

Where go-getters and goal setters know they’ve a chance

And this is the place where we first played as kids

And me Mam lived and died here, she loved it she did

And this is the place where our folks came to work

Where they struggled in puddles, they hurt in the dirt

And they built us a city. They built us these towns

And they coughed on the cobbles to the deafening sound

Of the steaming machines and the screaming of slaves

They were scheming for greatness, they dreamed to their graves

And they left us a spirit, they left us a vibe

The Mancunian Way to survive and to thrive

And to work and to build, to connect and create and

Greater Manchester’s greatness is keeping it great

And so this is the place now we’ve kids of our own

Some are born here, some drawn here but we all call it home

And they’ve covered the cobbles, but they’ll never defeat

All the dreamers and schemers who still teem through these streets

Because this is a place that has been through some hard times

Oppressions, recessions, depressions and dark times

But we keep fighting back with Greater Manchester spirit

Northern grit, northern wit in Greater Manchester’s lyrics

And there’s hard times again in these streets of our city

But we won’t take defeat and we don’t want your pity

Because this a place where we stand strong together

With a smile on our face, Mancunians Forever

And we’ve got this* as the place where a team with a dream (*Forever Manchester)

Can get funding and something to help with their scheme

Because this is the place that understands your grand plans

We don’t do No Can Do, we just stress Yes We Can!

Forever Manchester’s a charity for people round ‘ere

You can fundraise, donate. You can be a volunteer

You can live local, give local. We can honestly say

We do charity differently, that Mancunian Way

And we fund local kids, and we fund local teams

We support local dreamers to work for their dreams

We support local groups and the great work they do

So can you …help us help… local people like you?

Because this is the place in our hearts, in our homes

Because this is the place that’s a part of our bones

‘Cos Greater Manchester gives us such strength from the fact

That this is the place. We should give something back.

Always remember. Never forget. Forever Manchester.

I mean, I complained about Craglorn because the game was pretending to be an MMO when the game was still incredibly group unfriendly. That's since changed and I'd love to get another zone like Craglorn that focuses on group content.

Could be the time of day you're playing, could be how others see you "talking" in zone chat, could be you weren't clear about what type of guild you were interested in. Sometimes people who make requests ignore whispers, too. If you don't respond, I'm not going to keep trying to get your attention.

When I see someone ask for an invite to a guild, I usually whisper to ask "what kind of guild"; I can send invites for all of my guilds, but someone who wants an end game trials pvp guild wouldn't be a good fit for my crafters guild, or my guild that is very helpful for new players or for my trading guild. I've given invites to people who have joined just long enough to find out they don't have access to the guild bank and leave.

If I'm close enough, I'll help with a dungeon, but unless the person asking says they'll wait, I won't run/ride/wayshrine across the whole map to get there. Mostly because too many times they've cleared it before I get there, and never bother to say so in chat so anyone attempting to help can go back to what they were doing. If I can help someone, I will. But sometimes the people asking don't make it easy.

Same thing with the "anything really". I'll make gear for people, items for trait research, food, alchemy, whatever if I'm watching zone chat and the person isn't being an ***. Some people have an attitude that really doesn't do anything to make me feel helpful.

@geekboy09 What is your in game name? I can add you to a guild I am in. If you want.

PS presonally, I didn't have any guild until I reached my vet levels. but that was my style (yes, I am a loner, playing an MMO-RPG lol). I kinda like exploring around, learning the game. My very first vet pledge was nerve-wrecking. at that time, I had zero sets on my. lol. was basically PvPing, and had no clue what gear sets were. I look back now, and a guild would have been nice to have when I had no idea how to do anything on this game. But my point is, you will be just fine without a guild, eventually you will find your people. :)

But seriously, give me your @name in game, I can add you to a new player friendly guild. :D

Don't worry about buying bag space or hoarding gold quite yet. At that level you should be questing and learning your character, not stressing about bag space. Deconstruct extra gear, or sell it to a merchant to make some easy change. If you gather unrefined materials and get a gold mat, that would easily net you some quick cash.

There are people advertising guilds in chat constantly, just be patient. Hang around in a populated zone for 10ish minutes and there will be at least one. Questing, random dungeons, and fighting world bosses is a good way to meet people.

What kind of help do you think you need?

As a veteran player, I'm usually willing to help new players with the following (I love lists):

    - Understand basic mechanics of the game ("How do I" type questions)
    - WB kills if I'm in the area and not doing anything specific
    - Free ports - maybe if I'm going that way anyhow
    - I may come to your aid in Cyrodiil if you are trying to finish up a PvE activity and someone is interfering repeatedly

If you are looking for handouts of gear and gold then good luck to you. You will not be getting any attention from me.
