Is there a way to switch which servers' toons load onto PTS?

Like all good boys and girls, I made a burner toon on the EU server to complete the summerfall event on both servers. Now, however, the only toon loading onto the PTS is that one level 5. There is no way I'm creating new toons and leveling them all the way to cp160 to test out new features, so I'm going to sit out the PTS cycle. Is there any way from preventing this from happening in the future? What determines which server gets loaded?

No. ZOS copies characters each two weeks, so it is either NA or EU, and it cycles which. No way to choose for the player.

As @Feanor said, nope. We have no control over whether it's NA or EU server characters on the PTS at any given time. Sorry.

It does make a decent reason to at least get some basics set up on the alternate server, if possible, though. Makes the off-server weeks less of a pain if you have the things you need without having to reacquire them each time it switches over.

Besides, you can always create a fully leveled CP 160 Template character if you only have a level 5 toon on the other server. Just use the character creation screen and choose the template from the drop down.

What you can do is go to create a new toon and select Murkmire in the drop down menu in the top left corner. This will create what is called a "template" character, which will be a max level toon with all skill lines unlocked and maxed (just add skill points to the skills you want) and boxes containing all the armor sets/weapons, major foods and enchantments, and other testing goodies.

But no. Partway through the PTS cycle, the EU toons have their characters copied over, and you can't really change that. The templates do the job well enough for testing, however.

That's really good to know about the templates. That could also help with making experimental builds. Nothing more annoying than spending tens of hours unlocking skills and tens of thousands of gold just to find out a set won't proc like you think it will. I guess that's not really why they have the PTS available, though.

I totally didn't pick up on the fact that you didn't use templates upon first reading your post, sorry! Very glad it was pointed out for you.

PTS is very much about testing builds and gear, as the template characters come with a mess of containers that have most of the armor & weapon sets in the game right inside them for your testing convenience.

P.S. - most addons work on the PTS, too. At the very least, you'll want Combat Metrics for testing.

You can do a LOT more on the PTS than you may have realized. Treat it like the free playground version of the base game. Just don't be put off by the bugs you'll often encounter there, and be active in reporting them if you feel they warrant it.

I'll have to look up how to get my addons working on the pts too. I won't need the crafting/housing ones, but it can be really hard to tell by guessing if you are actually doing 10% more healing/damage or if it is just spiking more or neither.

Before I'd just use the tokens from the free crown store to redistribute points on my toons and upgrade stuff to gold with the mats that would reset.

Besides, pts stays up after it goes live anyway, so you can always test other builds there, although it doesn't get updated, so you'll get stuck without live only bug fixes
