Daily Rewards: Remove Soulgems and Crown Meals?

Yes, I know they are free. But I'd take another raft of crown poisons/potions over these things. The meal is totally useless. And the soul gem is like a penny; you know its worth something, and you'd feel like a jerk for not taking it if offered, but you'd really prefer a nickel.

    Maybe So
I suppose it depends on what you want from the system. Personally, I destroy these items as the storage space is worth more to me. At the very least, I'd prefer standard in game gems as they would at least stack. This is a situation where the crown equivalent is strictly worse than the in game one, not because of how it performs but because it basically removes one space from your inventory while you have it on you, almost like a cursed item would function in other games.

The meals are ok. I do use them from time to time and could see how they might be useful to newer players without their crafting maxed out. They scale so nice for lowbies and leveling up. I still destroy them most times, but I have better options.

One mans junk is another's treasure. I use the food and the soul gems just like I use the repair crates.

I basically stated this earlier. But since some players are happy to give other players food when they meet them in a dungeon it was deemed not worthy of a rebuttal.

There are newer players who do not have tons of matts for food and a stockpile soul gems.

More so, Zos could split the AP, Telvar and gold rewards in half to fill the days vacated by this request.

In other words, we will not get anymore and the current design does benefit newer and returning players.

New and returning players are often just given gems for free. If you ask for food in a dungeon, people will just give it to you, usually. I have helped many new players like that in my guild.

I actually think its worse to give to them that way, because it may delay them from getting a guild. This is because the amount of help and knowledge available from established players far exceeds what they'd get out of like 4 soul gems.

They are not given very much and you are making a huge assumption most new players enter the group dungeons. After seeing some of the crap posted in these forums about GF it is clear there are some players not so helpful.

You also make an assumption that these daily rewards somehow affects players looking for a guild.

Again, you will not get anything more if Zos would remove them. You would be required to log in the same number of days Zos decides and they would just split up the other rewards. It is not hurting you or anyone else. Seems like such a minor thing to complain about.

Edit: I must agree with Taleof2Cities below.

Many new players do group dungeons because the level up rewards tell them to do it. Dungeons is how many find baby's first guild.

I may be making assumption they'd add something else but its also a leap to say they wouldn't since they have a calendar to fill.

They could add something of equal value like mimic stones, potions, repair kits, etc. All stuff they have given out before and all more broadly useful.

It all comes down to you are getting something for free and it is not good enough for you so you want something better. That is exactly what you are saying.

Taleof@Cities was absolutely correct in his statement above.

It is not free. We paid for this game.

No. It is free. That one time purchase bought you access to the game. You pay nothing more for the FREE daily rewards.

    Merely demonstrating Taleof2Cities was correct.

    ----

Honestly, most of the 'general' items in the daily are useless for someone. AP & Telvar stones? For someone who doesn't PvP, those are the only ones they'll ever have.... and can you do anything useful with less than 50k of them? (serious question, I've no idea. I just keep seeing the thread about the Golden selling stuff for 500k AP, and saw the motifs on the BG vendor. And with just the daily reward AP, it'll be quite awhile before my Stam char gets Vigor). Poisons, for the guy who doesn't use them? Meh. Yeah, the soul gems aren't great for those of us vendoring stacks of charged gems every couple weeks. Mimic stones, for the person who isn't crafting. 500 gold, for the trader who has 40mil. Etc, etc, etc.

It's all garbage to someone. But it's supposed to be - it's the filler rewards. They're not going to make them all perfect for you, and they're definitely never going to let you exchange them for crown gems.

And access to the game is access to all the base game content. All base game, non-event content is paid for by the base game purchase. All DLC content is paid for by DLC purchase.

It isn't some event item they are adding for no reason at all that you could own even if you did nothing. It is base game content and there is an action required of you to get it. They are essentially incentivizing you to act contrary to your normal use.

Well, they could split up the big reward into chapters or icons or something, something they already do. Log in seven days, get the seven icons, combine them, and bam, you have the cute pet or sick ride or sweet house. but I'm good with the food and AP and gold and stuff. Six of one, half dozen of the other.

They're not the best food I can get, but it was easier to just toss the free crown meals at my alt I was leveling, instead of going to my provisioner to craft a variety of blue food at 10-15 level increments, shuffle them in & out of my bank, etc... When they hit 50/160, I'll craft the right food for them.
