Combat pets will now take 0 damage while in a Dungeon, Trial, or Group Arena.

Just a quick quesiton:

Why not try removing cast time and make the pets not get target by damage instead, so they could be brought in for example helra and AA? Is it easier to program pets immune to damage rather than an actual solution?

RE: vAA and the Mage. We actually changed the Mage's Chain Lightning in Update 19 to no longer target pets. It was an oversight that we did not include a note :(

One thing to keep in mind also, pets can not use Taunts in the content in which they are immune so, the dream of having pets tank for you is not possible.

As always, please feel free to send in bug reports for situations (like vAA) where a pet is affected by an ability that would adversely affect the group with little counter-play and we will evaluate those reports.

    Thanks!

Also I'm fairly sure that the issue with starfall in Hel Ra was fixed quite a while ago. I haven't had any problems with it for a long time.

seriously? that actualy makes me excited to play my petsorc more. I kinda disliked having to stick to that "pet and me" shield. personaly. and don't even get me started on my pet randomly dying when I need it most and having to resummon it. (mostly when healing on a sorc, but yanno)

Well, for me at least, one of the 2 reasons to have a pet is for them to tank for you in solo play. The damage from the clannfear is almost negligible, so without their ability to tank, I don't see the use for them anymore. May be time to use Miss Flappyflaps.

You are not alone. I used the pet for taking sometimes also. I would rather have things with the pets as they are now. Again, another horrible proposed change.

you know, I never found that it was all that great of a tank anyways. now I could have my damage shield back and her both my dps and healing pet out for some extra pew pew. I know shields won't absorb as much, but not worrying about my pets dying when I need them the most ESPECIALLY solo is a nice boon, at least for me personaly and the way I like playing.

It was unreliable. Not to mention it was odd that one class out of 5 had a tankish pet. Seems more balanced no.

This does not mean the pet will not gain agro as the other morphs did get agro on mobs.

Unreliable? I have to disagree with that, the Clannfear on my Pet Sorc got me through most veteran group dungeons solo (except those that have mechanics to prevent soloing).

The taunt and holding aggro work worked flawlessly with my heavy attack lightning staff build.

At least now we won't have to worry about how much health our pets have. No more healing my Matriarch every 10-20 during a firefight worrying if its going to die for some reason.

Great change. Kinda wish they would change the tormentor a bit though:

Passive: The pet deals 50% more damage when the target is below 50%. Not active just passivelydoes more damage when the mob is under 50.

While this might not be the most elegant of solutions. I do think it will solve 70% of the problem for pets in trials.

    Whats left:
Enemies getting stuck on pets and not coming to taunt. (huge issue)
Pets failing to respond to command and causing problems such as in down phase of boss in vHoF (definitely still an issue.)
AOE abilities targeting pets and thereby baking the melee players (should any still do this, I am not sure)
Pets stealing heals and / or buffs such as EleD from players (not sure it this still happens but both used too)
Pet agro issues, initiating agro on bosses when a buff is cast or shot fired in non-agro direction etc.
Stuck in combat bug after group wipe may or may not be related to pets, it is a leading hypothesis.
Pets taking up two bar slots yet not being any more powerful than comparable abilities.

I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

Petsorc main here (when not tanking):

#1 & #2: These are pretty much the same issue as they both have to do with pets not responding to the recall command. This happens sometimes and it might be related to another player's heavy attack on a mob screwing with their AI (it doesn't have to be the same mob). It is really annoying.

#3: I believe was all fixed in Wolfhunter but they just mentioned it today! So this should not be a problem anymore.

#4: As far as I know, this does happen, but only if there are fewer than 12 players alive in group. So it's basically a good thing now, though pets getting heals will be pointless if the PTS change goes live.

#5: This is still an issue, but only in certain situations with weird aggro ranges (like the Warrior at the end of Hel Ra).

#6: I really believe this is related to the door bug and has a lot to do with skipping enemies in a dungeon or trial after they become aggroed to the group.

#7: Eh, debatable... I don't mind the double bar thing myself but that's just me.
