Cheapest Aldmeri stave motif (stave level 1) looks exactly like spear. Add Templar on top of that with Apostle helm and you have spartan warrior. Kinda )

Spears have actually been in the game for a VERY long time (perhaps since release), you can usually see Fighters Guild NPCs train with them at certain basegame locations.

I'd personally love to see two handed and one handed spears in the game. One handed spears could be used in the sword and board tree as a simple reskin of the already available one handed weapons, while two-handed (halberds?) could use the two-handed tree quite well.

As passives, add range and penetration instead of damage / bleed and there you go, easy spears.

They should have given us the spears long ago, afaik in TES: Skyrim they were bragging in some trailer about the spears but never implemented for unknown reason. In ESO I believe and the video just confirms, the spears would be too OP, thus they don't wish to add a powerful weapon which would have to be nerfed at the beginning. I also believe they treat the spears like the Dwemer race, nobody knows why the spears are no longer after original Morrowind game, yet all community requests meet the wall of silence. You could ask about the spears and it's like you were asking about why the Dwemer disappeared .

I think if you are nostalgic about Morrowind you should visit Seyda Neen. It's okay to like spears (I really do...) but before suggesting they be added to the game you need to consider what has been mentioned so far.

No, when I'm really nostalgic about Morrowind spears, I boot up TES III and play my spear-wielding Nerevarine.

See, I played Skyrim, then Oblivion, and then Morrowind, and I knew I wanted to use a spear in Morrowind and it was amazingly fun.

Seyda Neen is pretty in this game, but it doesn't compare to fending off flocks of cliff-racers with my trusty halberd.


(Yes, we know its a lot of work to add weapons and animations to the game. We're not likely to get spears added to ESO. Who cares? Spears are awesome and I'd like to see them return to TES games.)
