Can this game support map, skyshard, motif sharing account wide?

Except comments targeted at me, to mock me... nothing good. You and I aren't playerbase, butt hurt, delusional, zos wants money, old and future players...... tf are these replies.....
Not even one has come with an idea. Just replies to insult or replies to say no. Tf is wrong with the ones that replied.

Back to the game. I don't see any balance issues. Being able to chose for the map to be unlocked for every char if one made it there..... I see it good. If I want something that others will use as well and doesn't break the game nor normality, why can't it be? Its like saying you don't want chocolate, parents buy chocolate, you see it in the fridge and go omnomnom. I see this behaviour all the time. People say no, mock, invent reasons to oppose. Later devs implement and everyone goes banzaai .
    I luv dragons.

There is a saying. Never start a sentence with no. Either come with 3 ideas or shut up.
This game is very big and many are afraid to make alts for that. Or if they make an alt is purely for group dungeon, trials etc. No sane person would venture to do on the second and beyond char what he/she did on the first. Not to mention the people that work. So I am saying a thing everyone will use. Come with ideas targeted at the topic.

I understand when some people say that characters are like different people. But that excuse works only for RP.

If you were playing an MMO that was based on "running a team" then it would make sense.

But when "RP" is actually part of "MMORPG", then maybe you are missing the point here.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Maybe. But tell me. How many characters you have with all the skyshards and map 100% completed. Also you had to do this while having a full time job and a family. Or at least a full time job.

Four. The rest, and even those for, have more than enough for what they need out of 16 maxed characters across two servers. There is not a need for 350+ skill points on every character. The second server has none with all or even near all the sky shards.

Yes, I do more than sit in a chair and play this game.

I would suggest that if one has gotten to the point that alts are to much work then it may be time to stop leveling characters. This is not a slight but merely stating something worthy. If the game has become to much work then it is time to slow things down.

Yes. But why do you oppose so much map and skyshard sharing. Its not like you get them for free. You still work for them.

Its not like I am asking for everything like that 1 guy said with unlimited gold and such. Let my characters enjoy my work. I worked with my main to get those 2 things that can be shared. Why deny them? When I create an alt its not like a new player plays it. Its still me on that account.

100% map and skyshard completion is a huge thing. A time investment. Its pure madness to assume that someone wishes to do that again 16 times. I understood about crafting motifs. Ok. Can't be done. But map and skyshard completion. Whats the issues. I bet many will usevthe map and skyshard completion. I saw that quests have choices so wanting that on all chars is unfair. But map and skyshards. Why not?

Where is the fun and challenge if you've already done it several times?

I don't mind the idea of some things being account wide, but it would need a cost, and generally speaking, no to motifs, they will lose value if they are account wide.

    Sky shards:
If sky shards were account wide, new toons would start with so many skills they wouldn't know what to do with them.

I have no issue with the idea of buying skill line passives with sky shards account wide, so if (I cbf working out how many) it takes 50 shards of skills to fill up the blacksmithing line, to redeem 40 shards renders the tree permanently unlocked but you still need to level to 50 to get the perks.

Personally, I do not care if this happens or not. I can see this would be painful to implement too, what sky shards get taken off the world map? How does this effect the skills on your other toons? If a shard was taken off the map that another toon had, and it strips them of a skill point, but they had no spare skill points to deduct? It sounds like it could get messy.

    Motifs:
There are many motifs out there that are of high value and should not be messed with. I think motifs purchased on Crown Store should be unlocked account wide though.

Some motifs that are garbage, anything that sells for less than 1,000 gold should have a rare special version that if found it unlocks it account wide AND drops it from the loot table entirely for the player, the player cannot ever see it again, it does not drop, it is dead to them. This should increase the value of the motif for others as there will be fewer sold. The rare special version only drops to a player that already has the motif and is account bound.

Unlocking the Undaunted chests and having an inventory full of garbage motifs worth next to nothing is ... well ... daunting.

    Recipes:
All green recipes should be account wide, mostly because they are garbage. Secondly, because when starting a new toon nobody ever uses that toon to do provisioning, they use their main crafter. The main crafter a) has the recipe they want and b) can make bulk. If the new toon had access to those recipes, they would likely use them on the new toon to improve provisioning. Leveling provisioning is just spamming food production and destroying it, this is just not natural.

Sub CP150 recipes should also be account bound, save for unique recipes that are from events or quests.

Known green and Sub 150 recipes should be dropped from the loot table (except unique special event) when found and read. However, any unknown green and sub 150 recipe can drop regardless of player level.

Purple CP150 recipes should be harder to find and there should be no account wide 'special recipe'. The golden, purple and some blue CP150 recipes are the only items of value in provisioning that should never be account wide. Everything else is garbage.

    Lore books:
Last I checked, the Mages, Fighters and Undaunted daily quest givers reward you with *** on a stick.

If however, they gave lore book unlocks, like 10 at random with a small chance one is a mage guild book, and an even smaller chance one is a skill book. Lorebooks that you have previously already found, including Mage guild (rare) and Skill books (very rare) then I'd do those daily quests.

The kicker is, the lore books found do not unlock account wide, it unlocks to any toon that has completed the Mages Guild quest line. So every toon still has to at least get to Level 5 in the Mages guild to benefit from it. For most toons, to get to level 5 on the mages guild they would have already found several skill books on their own.

Could even have a memory fountain or something that new toons can interact with on the Mages Guild island, if they activate it, then they sync found lore books. That way, players that want to make a toon and not sync do not have to.

Edit: Each daily quest guarantees 10 lore books that you have read but have not synced. With about 4,000 lore books in the game and climbing, that is 400 daily quests to do. Perhaps it should be 20 lore books per daily.

    Conclusion:
I only support account wide things that in no way effect valuable items, or end game items. I don't want to see CP150 Blue/Purple/Golden recipes or high value motifs account wide. They are the items people farm for gold. I have no issue with account sync if the purpose it to clear out 30g recipes and 400g motifs from the guild stores. I think Lore books account wide would only be viable if they are earned beyond simply picking them up. Daily quests is a good way to do it.

Yes but when I say map unlocked I mean having things marked as visited. Lorebooks, and collectibles were never market. Only towns, camps, dungeons, cities, crafting locations, etc.

And for the skyshard its easy. You can still collect them with the new toon If you need it so bad at that level. But at lvl 50 you automatically get the rest and the remaining skyshards get 'completed'.

You get the idea? At lvl <50 you can still go and collect and at level 50 the game gives you the remaining skyshards you have collected at most and sp are calculated automatically. Believe me. Its always the same. The programmer complains that it can't be done and says that there are several problems, but if you tell him he has to do it no matter what, he will do it and a great job. Its how programmers are. Always no but at the end they do a very good job. Its doable. I already have the logical schema. Will post when I get home.

I also can't bring myself to make another toon because of the work involved, but if you make it too simple, there won't be any value in making another toon.

There should be a middle ground.

I clearly stated the issue with it. I suggest reading rather than just making 4 posts in a row saying so little.

Besides, what you are asking for is not happening anytime soon, probably never, for the very reason I stated. It is irrelevant if you agree or not.

True. Let me think and come back with a solution.

Pretty sure I just laid out a solution.

If it is destinations you seek. Get the addon. If it is wayshrines you seek, join a guild and teleport there, or buy a house there. Housing acts as a wayshrine and is account wide.

What I wrote about above lays out a simple method of syncing items that are not of high value, and requires effort.

So. What I came up with:

    MAP
Here I am only speaking about the vanilla map. The collectables such as lorebooks, will not be touched. And the idea is quite simple and its based on those maps in skyrim where you would interact with and have your map 'upgraded'. From the game point of view simple a main file where the map markers would be toogled from undiscovered to discovered. If my character does some exploring, I can go to such an item placed in the world and have the map sync. After that have my other alt go to the 'item' and have his map updated. Even from programmer point of view would be just a data compare where the only change that occurs is from false to true. This is an idea.
Mind you that only the things on the vanilla map are being discussed. Lorebooks, books, collectibles are not here. An add-on such as Destinations will still be heeded.

    Skyshards

I have a character with 300 shards and level 50, make a second char and start getting shards as well until lvl 49. Each shard has its own unique id, so at level 50 a first comparation would be made between that character and the biggest shard collector and those uncollected by the second would be received automatically and what ha found extra could be added to the first. To make it more fair maybe an item placed in world which you interact with could trigger the event so the game's performance wouldn't be affected. Here are some ideas based on what I read so far.

Please note that some replies are talking about things that I am not talking about. I agree with the saying that 2 could look at the same picture and see different things. Give me feedback according to what I am saying and add ideas to the base of the idea. When I say 100% map completion I am not referring to everything. Just what you see when you press M on a vanilla game with no add-ons.
    I luv dragons.
  • FluffyDragg0n
I gave up on other things to be account shared besides skyshards and vanilla map markers. Please note. Speaking about lorebooks, crafting, quest, etc has no place here. Alse your personal opinions regarding zenimax hold them to yourself. Unless you are the owner of Bethesda or Zenimax you have no right to say what can/will be done. No one takes pleasure in reading a discouraging message just because you don't agree with the idea. I saw so many people opposing ideas for x reason and embracing them later on that it became natural to me to ignore such comments.

One more thing to note regarding motifs: Since the implementation of the outfit station, there is no reason to need the motifs on any character beyond your primary crafter for writs. Every character you make can access all styles you know at all times for an outfit. Nothing else needed. so, by keeping motifs on the character that does them, it doesn't keep you from using those styles, only prevents you from getting unearned numbers of master writs.

Yea. Also my guild mates showed me about motiffs and quests. Hence its natural for those to be character based. Regarding quests, a quest marker hide option would me quite welcomed but there is already a topic here somewhere about it.

Motifs I would be willing to accept. Learning all motifs across multiple toons (I'm a completionist) is going to be bank-breaking.

The rest is just part of what makes rolling a new toon worth it.

Motifs account wide people seem to claim they would break the game. And why not a map account wide. Do you actually have 2+ chars where you actually brought them both to the same point and take pleasure in doing so?

No free rides, please. Longtime players put the hours and effort in to slowly build our characters up. I don't mind helping new players out with armour and a bit of gold, but if you want the skyshards, lore books et al, you bleeding well get out there and grind them!

Mount upgrades not being account wide has always grinded my gears. And I've become desensitized to the Mage/Fighter guild grind, having maxed them so many times...

I love account unlocks as much as the next guy, but thanks to the Crown Store, I'm not sure what leeway they'll give us now.
