the price of selling your crafting

booliemantin
So I have come to realize that currently people over price the selling of materials. 100 gold for an iron ingot? That means one piece of level 8 armor is around 800 gold. Imo that is way over priced. Now I would like this thread to be for us crafters to discuss the price of selling arms and armor. What's reasonable and what isn't. Maybe we can come up with some sort of a base price that's fair for everyone. I personally use a formula I have been working on. 5x+15. X is the amount of ingots, raw hide, ECT. That is used. 5 gold per cause that's what it costs to sell to merchants. And the 15 for the type of armor. Any suggestions or other ideas please share!

Isn't that what the auction house is for? Establishing an economy? Oh, wait. Right...

Where is this mystical auction house you speak of?

Im on tradingpost they have everything on there. Lots of unique armor sets, crafting mats get snapped up fast if in large numbers.

The problem is that auction houses are poor ways to sell things. We need a broker system for players so that they can have an open market to sell things. The market economy will bring things to reasonable prices and be available to everyone unlike a guild store. I am working on a thread about this.

I'm really taking a liking to these guild stores. Time will sort out the pricing and once it does I expect to be able to trade on the margins of price differences between guilds.

I'm in a regular guild and we price things as they are worth to us as individuals... not market value... so yeah, mats are pretty cheap, gets a high turn over, and everyone profits.

WTF! 100g for an iron ingot? Man I have just been selling them to vendors!!!

Then again, I don't have the time or patience to sit in /z and spam 'selling iron ingots...', then you need to meet the buyer somewhere... such a hassle.

I bought a batch of them for 50 each.

You payed 50 gold each for them. They go for 10 gold each all day long in the guild i am in, and i felt that was the most i would be willing to pay for iron ingots.

This one thinks that selling crafting goods to vendors is irresponsible. Ri'Dariit can understand your problem with zone talk though. Go to crafting station and /say, crafters will respond and buy your goods for better rate than vendor.

Ouch. Even in /z around Glenumbra I've not seen someone ask for more than 20g per, generally the going price is 10g per. Sorry you got hornswoggled.

It is possible some people put stuff in guild stores overpriced on purpose, and knowing it will not sell. Because they are just using the store for extra storage space.

I wish there was a website or something where I could see the vendor prices for everything and then make determinations based off that. Is there one?

im in no trade guild but to me the decent value is something like 10gold for any comon material, 100 for green improvement mats (this might be overpriced) and 500g for blue improvement mats (again this might be overpriced). Hard to set up accepted prices when over half the players arent in a trading guild and that either way theres no gamewise economy or market to SEE going prices

Well it only costs 15 gold to sell a honing stone to merchants in pretty sure. So 100 gold extra for a green is pretty reasonable but it should be 50 per honing stone that was used I believe due to the percentage chance.

It's always overpriced when the MMO starts, it will balance out in a week or so

ive seen traders sell dwarven oil for 150 each.

stuff is actually quite cheap atm because gold is in little supply

I believe every item does show you in the tooltip what value it is if you sold to an npc merchant. What you don't see is what it costs to buy from a merchant. That is for the items that you can also buy from merchants.

I just run over to a merchant and started my own list for things I'm interested in unloading. Like the style mats, they are all 15 gold to buy from a merchant. So in the guild store I sell what I don't want for half that. The style mats to sell to a merchant is zero. So a little bit of gold is better than zero.
