Take your time and furnish it via crafting and buying off guild stores.
I bought the townhouse unfurnished. Figured I'd make it into a museum/Library because I have so many looted paintings !!

This. I mean, you honestly can't expect a company that lives off of it's profits, to give something for free. Without giving the options to buy something that fits with it.
Just expect everyone and everything to have alterior motives and you'll never be surprised. This thing was rigged from the beginning, sure. But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate a free pet, mount and mansion.
And it's up to everyone if they want to buy the packs or not. This event was a way for ZoS to 1) Get people to buy Summerset 2) Get them to spend crowns on furniture. Although, you can buy crowns with gold(if you got a lot of gold) so idk how bad it is, tbh. 3) Get some PR and unite the community over some event-thingybob. And tbf, it worked!
Summerset got more active, people were active in zone-chat and helped out newbies / talked in chat. Sure, it was because of the event, but it wasn't a bad idea. Encourage some activity in your newest expansion.Ignorance is the greatest weapon of tyranny.

I'm pretty sure most people were aware of the marketing aspects behind this event. Just like when you get a "free" coffee from someplace - it's because they want to get you through the door to maybe also buy a doughnut or a sandwich...
But also many of us didn't care - because it was fun. It was a way for the community to come together and achieve something as a group without some crazy grind. I had a blast porting people to places, and I ventured onto the EU server for the first time ever and met some really cool people.

Of course it was. That's marketing right there. It's still free stuff and it did generate a great community atmosphere. Win-win as I look at it.

✭✭Regardless of what the outcome is (micro-transactions and crown store spending), the only thing that really matters here is what the community intended to do when they agreed to work together for once rather than pointlessly trolling one another. The awesome house notwithstanding, I'm really proud of this community for coming together and working toward a common goal, and then succeeding at that goal.
We need to learn to appreciate the positives in this life instead of constantly focusing so intently on all of the negatives.PC/Xbox NA

Did you forget about ZOS nerfing Traitor's Vault because blueprints were too easy to obtain?
ZOS has been planning these furniture packs for a while, and aint nothing gonna get in the way of their sweet profits. 1 -

this. and its not like anyone is forcing you to buy any of the furnishing packs, or any crown store furniture in general. there is a LOT and I do mean a LOT of furniture in this game that looks awesome and is earned entirely through in game activities.dirty worthless casual.
