    Well its better than nothing...We all know something had to happen to shields and they would not revert nerfs completely...It'll be interesting to see what people do with their CP now and what builds emerge.

    LA will still be usable. Even if shields still had a 1 sec cast time, it honestly would not have been the end of LA. These changes definitely are the end of max mag + mag regen stackers...It's odd ZOS ignores stamina builds doing the same thing though.

    This is the kind of damage the mobs are doing in the new Blackrose Prison on vet. This isn't damage from bosses. These aren't special abilities or mechanics. These are just the standard attacks by standard non-boss enemies. Three hits, each doing over 8K, in the span of 1.1s:

    40%-of-health shields is fine if all you do is base game content. But for true endgame content--whether that be competitive PvP or vet DLC trials and dungeons--the 40%-of-health is downright insulting and shows us just how out of touch ZOS is.

    Hey, you still have like 16k health (or more) behind your shield and you still can heal and be healed.

    16k health + 8k shield = 24k + instant cast shields

    Stamina toons go through this kind of incoming damage (in your screenshot) all the time without shields.

    I suppose. Which is is why "balance" is a poor standard to employ - especially on a game where it is the norm to be outnumbered.

    They should be focused more on making the game fun. That needs to be their chief concern. They could make everyone the same class with the same abilities doing the same exact damage and the game would be perfectly balanced as a result. It would also be incredibly boring.

    Sounds much better than a one second cast time, definitely. Still maybe a bit too steep a nerf, but in a better direction.

    Maybe 50% would be better, and then magicka users could just put a bit more into health, staying at 20k instead of 17-18k, which would give more health and shield strength, and then with resistances counting (including the resistances from buffs that other teammates can give) into the shield, it would be a bit less extreme. Other teammate buffs that buff health (horn, minor toughness, ebon) would also make the shields temporarily stronger too.

    Plus, maybe there's the potential of a healer using those sets that grant major evasion to people when healing, that 25% AoE reduction is pretty nice, and now it will no longer be exclusive to dual weilding players, and even Magicka ones could benefit from it now.

    No chance. I'd take anything except 1sec cast time! Those percentages can easily go up, it's an easy tweak if needed, but the cast time would be the nail in the coffin.

    Besides, having some attr points added to health wouldn't hurt. I do wish developers will make attribute points more diverse, not just all to mag or all to stam...

    However, I applaud the change for cast-time removal and have renewed my subscription.

    Wonder if this will carry over to shield sets (for those that use them still) and things like the group benefit of Magma Shell?

    All of this would have been much simpler had they just left soft caps in the first place. (Since they're clearly wanting people to gravitate towards non min/max builds and more emphasis on health attribute).
    Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

    Shouldn't lesser numbers be able to outplay larger numbers though? Shouldn't skill and tactic be a factor in mmos?

    Wouldn't it be boring if raw numbers where the only thing deciding win or loss in PvP?

    The main issue with outnumbered PvP or solo'ing is that certain class&builds do it much better than others. Fact that it's possible isn't a problem, as long as it's within reasons. Obviously no class should be able to make a build that allows them to wipe out half a raid solo, regardless of skill and tactics.

    This sounds like a smart move to me.

    All the cast time nerf would have likely done is *** off their customers for no good reason. Because I seriously doubt it would have had much of an impact on making healers more effective.

    Here is some free advice to the developers of ESO. If you want to make healers more effective - then BUFF healers. It was you who decided to nerf them in the first place while constantly designing fights that don't accommodate healing.

    Lay off all the instant death and frantic scattered all over the place battle mechanics.

    Don't nerf pvp based on pve issues who don't care about pvp.

    End game trials consists of only magicke because of shields and range was a pve issue.

    Mag sorc's are lower end in open world pvp and didn't need a nerf.

    But hey they nerfed pvp mag sorc's because of pve.

    Definitely will fix shield stacking.

    40% of 20k Health would be 8k. Still. It will limit the ability to just mash out massive shields without warning.

    Lol in pvp it will 5k only and NB stealth attack will do insane damage on ur 10k physical resistance!

    It's like they're telling everyone to run heavy armour 30k hp builds.

    So now light armour users the only glass cannons left in pvp are going to join the heavy armour high hp train in cp.

    No other option than Heavy Armor!

    So the nerfs are again aimed primarily at making healers feel more useful in PvE... Well what if the *** healer dies in end game content? I guess we'll all just go ahead and wipe because we can't deal with the incoming damage long enough to rez the healer.

    And before you simply tell me to rez the healers faster, there are times when the incoming damage would simply one shot you if you don't break off the rez... and this will sometimes happen for significant swaths of time. Oh and vCR will literally kill you for rezzing if you try it immediately.

    What if a healer dies in vCR +3 execute? 85% healing debuff, 40% health shields with massive incoming damage. Guess we'll wipe.

    @ZOS_Wrobel you are making healers not only more useful but they will be under so much pressure to just HEAL people now. I'm really predicting a fair bit of hostility towards healers in PvE now.

    (Btw, stam gets vigor, dual wield self heals, passive mitigation with blade cloak (and now Evasion), and enough stamina to dodge or block more often to avoid big or chained attacks)

    So, now you can't stack other shields on top of healing ward if you pop it at low health because of it would go over 40%? Nice! Now my stamden is even happier :p

    A lot depends on if the cap kicks in before or after battlespirit.

    8k shields are usable, if nerfed. 4k shields are hot garbage.
