Viper Bows are very rare and only dropped from vet trials during SotH 2 years ago. It doesn't drop anymore.

Viper bow no longer exists as a drop - it got patched out at some point because viper only proccs on melee attacks and zos didn´t account for class melee attacks when doing that.
The ones in the game came as tradeable from trials before that.

Description of 5th bonus:
"When you deal damage with a Melee Attack, you deal an additional 6400 Poison damage over 4 seconds. This effect can occur once every 4 seconds."

Bow attacks are not melee, and therefore the set will not proc from bow attacks.
I remember reading in some patch notes maybe over a year ago, that weapons that cannot work with the set it belongs to ,have been deleted, they cannot be looted anymore. The very rare viper bow that you can still find in guildstores is the one from before that change, and before dungeon pieces became bound. DO NOT buy those, because the sellers know that the bow doesn't do anything.

For that reason, you can also not find an advancing yokeda bow. Those that have done a thousand farm runs in vHRC will have noticed that a bow never dropped.

Viper's a nice set for a WW build though.

There are many ways to proc it w/o bow abilities on the bow bar.

That's how we sacrificed the flexibility of theorycrafting in order to make it easier for someone to farm something

now i feel silly for trying to farm a for bow. rip

Aslso sheer has better 2~4 bonus, but, sheer procs after the 1st tick of PI.
If you are aiming to proc skoria. Relenquen + vicecanon are better choices since both have basicaly no cd and can be proc from stealth Heavy attack followed by reliable PI.

But nothing keeps me from slotting and using Killer's Blade or Biting Jabs on my bow bar, and those are melee attacks. Or am I missing something?

No, you arent missing anything. ZOS just chose to "fix" those sets that had proc conditions like that.

Some made sense, like Marksman, which only works on a bow. Others like Viper dont make as much sense.

There's a unique Sheer bow, and a unique Sheer 2h. So, that's slightly easier to farm up for weapons. If you want Sheer Venom jewelry to go with it, or are satisfied with Viper jewels is up to you.

There is plenty of stuff that can proc viper from a bow. Relequen one of them. But the doylemish fire staff, explain that.
I shoulnd't be on forum, I just get more and more annoyed with the insanely slacking developer team I can't take it anymore.

Reliquin being flagged as melee is probably a bug. It also makes Imperials and Redguards insanely good. So, that'll probably be fixed eventually.

EDIT: Also, Reli bows are a thing. So, if that's what you want, knock out some nCR+0 runs.
