Maintenance for the week of May 11:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – May 11
The maintenance is complete, and the PTS is now back online and patch 12.0.4 is available.

I see zos has done some tuning on ranges. Specifically the alliance war passive Reach and various abilities like Whip and Scattershot.

Now can zos go in and look at gap closers? Since when is jumping 20 meters to your target fun? Since when is all players within a 20 meter radius of me able to fly towards me like a blackhole?!

All im saying is reduce all gap closers to under 10 meters. Make combat, movement and stringing out your opponents more skill based. With the way gap closers are right now, its way to easy to just spam them. When you play a melee spec there is no thought, its just gap closer spam your target the second you cannot light attack them.

It sucks when i spend over 2k stamina sprinting, loosing easily 4-6k stamina regen due to no stamina regen while sprinting (7 medium regen build spec btw), only to have someone spam gap closers on me netting less of a stamina loss then the guy actively trying to use his medium armor passives to the fullest.

I would just like some form of overhaul on 1 the following:

No sprint regen
or
Gap closer range

Just want to mention that ive been taking a break from eso and following the pts patch notes and this recent pts patch is really good. Ive posted many threads with the issues in those patch notes and there almost spot on to what ive suggested. Good stuff Zos.

Gap closers have an 18 meter range last time I checked and are not buffed by alliance war passives for extra range iirc.

They are pretty much needed or else range builds would have a decidedly large advantage over melee. Range has their total range increased from 28 meters to 41 meters.

Granted, there has been times Zos messed things up and gap closers had a much greater range but I have not seen that in awhile.

If you are trying to run away from a player who is attacking you there may be better ways to handle this such as an invis pot and get behind something quickly (and go into sneak of you can) or maybe turn around and fight.

Running a gapcloser these days is rather gimping yourself on stamina. Using 1-3 swift and „permanent“ Major Expedition provided by the right potions, is oftenly more effective to bring yourself into melee range of the desired target. Gapclosers only really make sense anymore, because of the unrealistic way they bypass terrain to get to enemies that position themselfes way too advantageous.
Under 10 meters would defy their whole point.
They‘re also very expensive - it‘s simply too resource inefficent to repeatedly use them, opposed to what you say.

could be just hyperbole since im still salty no sprint regen is in the game being a stamina 7 medium spec with over 2.5k regen. also on ps4 gap closer spam seems to be more apparent.. or at least playing solo in cryodill you tend to have moments 10 people all gap close you from a mile away when you poke at the zerg as melee.

Why shouldn't someone be able to catch you when they are using all their passives PLUS an ability to catch you? Why should you be able to get away just because you want to? Learn to LOS. Stun them so you can run. You can't have a guaranteed escape just because of passives lmao

You misunderstood what my point was. Im specifically talking about the resource interaction between someone sprinting in full medium away while someone can easily just gap closer spam them. 1 player has restricted regen while the other does damage.

If i wanted to escape id pop rapids and cloak off. Simply put, gap closer range makes the game for melee to easy and makes it easier to get zerged down.

I suppose they are resource inefficient compared to using Swift, Major Expedition, and just waltzing right after your opponent xD Something has got to be done to make kiting a little more interesting, though. Swift has really made a mockery of the importance of positioning and efficient movement. No longer really gotta worry, just NYOOM.

Perhaps ZOS could start by tightening the range a little bit on gap closers, toning back swift, making it so other builds can actually run swift (by, ahem, maybe unhitching shields from 100% dependence upon magicka), and then see what happens.
