Redguard sorc PVE set suggestions?

So I'm playing a redguard sorc, and a lot of people gets confused by this, and frown upon this, and I dunno what magick, weapon, or gear to wear.

Can someone just tell me what gear to wear for good PvE? Cause I've had one person making me gear, but then it ended up being PvP and they stole all my materials that I gave to them to make me. :/
I like the staff and ranged magic ability, but honestly, I'm not even sure if that's what I should still be anymore, so can someone just list the gear, weapon, and what magicks/stamina sorc build i should go for? Cause i'm so frustrated and sad about it.

For magic DPS Julianos/Burning Spellweave is a nice beginner setup. With those you can start farming trials for the BiS gear.

As a stamina DPS Hunding's Rage, Nightmother's Gaze or Automaton is nice. Also Briarheart has some self healing.

And if you want to play as a redguard magic sorc, don't worry about it. You can still complete 95% of the content. The 5% being endgame trials where people like to have the "best race for the role". Take my orc NB healer's word for it :)

"Beginner" in ESO builds means anything below top tier. So unless you're looking for something to do trials with an organised group you're looking for a beginner build. Really confused me when I was looking for ideas for my level 30 templar and kept finding "beginner" builds using CP160 gear I couldn't get yet.

You can do great damage with a Redguard Magicka Sorc if you choose that route. You'll have the stamina to rolldodge and block which is important reguardless of resources. If you're under level 50, I reccomend 5 piece Seducer, 5 piece Julianos and 2 Torugs Staves. If you want pure damage, the people who replied above me have great suggestions.

Also, if that punk stole your materials, report his ass.

Edit: Just saw you said youre level 200, but 160 is maximum gear level so 160 is what you want, as it doesnt go higher.

Me personally, I use an outdated build. 5 Julianos, 3 Willpower, 2 Worm (head and staff) 1 Asylum staff and 1 Molag Kena Shoulder.

    OP seems to prefer Magic.

Dont worry OP, racial passives are nice but not required to influenced your playstyle. Khajiit has passives for weapon crit and stam recovery but i still went through Vet Trials as a MagSorc kitty just fine. To begin youll really want to get a set of Julianos, either craft it or ask someone, you find it in Wrothgar. However there are okay magic sets you can craft at lower trait requirements like Seducer, Magus, Twilights. Dont fret yourself onvwhat you need to be best, just take your time researching and leveling your crafting.

If you can, go into a guild trader and buy a nirnhoned lightning staff. Should be around 14k. Research that staff so you know the trait, nirnhoned weapons give a 200 boost to your damage when gold quality.

Join a guild and grab a mic or if you can type. There are plenty that will walk you through. Otherwise, just check out youtube clips. There are tons of how-to and what to use.

However, to just give an example. I have 2 magsorcs and 3 stamsorcs. For one of the magsorc for an easy, breezy good feeling and game enjoying not-trial or dungeon build, I use the following:

    - A high Elf
    - 5 x piece crafted set of Julianos (Chest, legs, feet, sash and gloves)
    - 5 x Necro (3 x jewelries and the Inferno and Lightning staff) Front bar: Lightning staff, Back bar: Inferno
    - 2 x monster piece. I use Grothdaar for this one, but you can use anyone you like and works for a sorc

That's it. Nothing complex or high maintenance. Have someone craft the Julianos for you, if you cannot yourself. It is at the crafting station in Wrothgar. The Necro pieces... you have to farm bosses, dolmens, delves, treasure chests and thieves' troves in Rivenspire; or buy those in the guild store. There are always Necro pieces on sale, but can be very pricey.

My other magsorc is a Julianos/Overwhelming. With Overwhelming, you have to farm the hell out of the Tempest Island dungeons/Undaunted runs and it will drive you crazy. Just get the Juli/Necro for starter. It is easier to get and still fun to rampage around open world Tamriel with. Plus, the Necro is good if you want to frolick around with the Clannfear or Matriarch pet. Whoah, lots more majicka and health juices with Necro and the pets.

Oh, the Redguard is better suited for the stamsorc because Redguard's passives are all about stamina and stam recovery; but, I prefer the Imperial for my Stamsorcs, as they look better than Redguard. Plus, Imperial is still good because of good stamina passive. Otherwise, you would want a majicka-based like High Elf, Breton or Dark Elf for a magsorc. Ok, go check out those youtube clips.

People get ripped off all the time in this game and its hard to get anything done about it. better off just taking the time to learn how to make the stuff yourself, or get a bus to where your gear drops till you have what you need.

Being a redguard is fine, but maybe you should think about stamina sorc as an option, magicka sorc is going to really be getting some hard nerfing next patch. Stamina sorc will not be getting the same kind of nerfing and will perform about as well as it does now. redguard means you have good racial buffs for a sta build.

Also, nightblade is a much stronger class, and you are pretty early along in the game, if you like the game and you are going to keep playing you might think about just starting over with a nightblade, people will like you more with that class and you will be more welcome in groups.

If you are still getting the basics of sorc down you won't have much to lose starting over with a much better class.

Yes, lots of people will tell you that you are not super-effective and thus should play something they like instead of what you like.
Just like they might tell me to not have my magica warden be bosmer, or not have my stamblade be dunmer, or things like that...

Persaonally I say fu... unm... forget those people! :p;):D
...I dunno what magick, weapon, or gear to wear.
Well, if you enjoy playing magica and ranged staff, then you should do this! I myself find it feels best if you pick what fits your character idea, not what is "most effective"... so, think about what you want your character to -be- in ESO. If you like a "magic caster" idea, go with that, pick a staff flavor, and some sets that feel good for you and maybe support your preferred playstyle... Even if the redguard passives are not "super-effective", that really should not influence your game enjoyment!

As for gear... well, that is up to you as well, though for a -Redguard- mage, I personally would pick the "Desert Rose" and "Martial Knowledge" sets just for fluff purposes! Or maybe "Withered Hand" and "Baharas Curse" as if you want to take a trick out of the book of those despicable necromancers... ;)
But make your own choices: https://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Light+Armor+Sets and https://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Crafted+Sets
In any case, it often is prudent to mix one offensive and one defensive set for solo play; if you have friends who quest with you, you can afford to go all offense and rely on them to keep you alive...

The problem with that is the MMO genre is a competitive genre. It's not a recreational genre, I've never known it to be played that way in any major way.

I mean you can play it in such a fashion, just like how you can play Skyrim competitively. But Skyrim is not a competitive game.

So, I prefer to give recommendations that take into consideration the genre. That needs to be part of it.

I agree. Being "effective" in this game is honestly objective. You can be a High Elf MagSorc (which is the "recommended" race for magicka sorc), but has no clue what spells to slot or how a rotation of a mag sorc is. I would rather have a Redguard MagSorc who understands his class/race/rotations than someone who has no clue what they are doing. Personally, just remember two things: 1.) Understand your class/skills/role and 2.) and this is probably what I do most when I select a combination of race and class, have fun. You don't have to be "meta". There will be a lot of changes that happens (and has happened) in this game, that no one single build will be best for a race or class. I remember before the best mundus stone was the mage, now I doubt people still remember what the mage munuds boon is. lol.

So, Redguard is a stam race. If you go stam sorc, end game I'd go with Hundings (weapons + 3 armor pieces) and Spriggans (jewelry + 2 armor pieces) and then add Veledrith or Stormfist. All are easy to get and will boost dps quite a bit.

If you go magsorc, you'll be stunted compared to Breton or High Elf, but you can still make it work. But I'll let someone better at mag builds answer that.
