If ZOS carries the current iteration of the PTS into Live, will you still play the Sorc class?

Just like when they reduced the shield duration several years back, everyone freaked out and threatened quitting the game forever. I will make changes and adapt, just like every other nerf they made.

The question was whether or not I'd still play the sorc class, so I voted yes. I have 3, one is stamina, another is magicka geared & skilled for group content (including shields). The other is also magicka, one that I was using to play around with stuff that is definitely not the meta. Started leveling tank skills for that one, but won't use shields. Depending on how things play out, the lone remaining magicka sorc might be relegated to easy pledges, crafting writs and maybe the odd random dungeon until I figure out what to do with it.

If I was an avid pvper, my answer would most likely be different, since I find it difficult to believe that any pvper worth their salt would stand around and let me get a shield up.

Nope. I'll still use my original stam sorc main and sorc tank, but my two mag sorcs will be relegated to life in the crafting area. Not sure about my other mag chars yet, as most have more on-demand healing potential.

I'll miss them. I put a lot of work into them.

I have one of each class (technically 2 DKs but I don't count my crafter), I'm not going to get rid of one just because there's been a balance patch. I might change some of the skills I'm using and/or how I use them but I'll still have and use the character.

Since I tend to use weird DIY hybrid builds that don't rely on a single skill to function it's extremely rare that balance patches have a significant effect on my characters. There's only once I remember it happening - when Guild Wars 1's dervish was totally re-worked. My build was literally unplayable, some skills had been changed beyond all recognition (I think one had been deleted completely) and others had been changed to use different attributes (stats) so they didn't work with the ones I had. I stripped everything off and spent a morning making a brand new build from scratch. The funny part is I ended up with something that was actually closer to what I'd originally wanted to do with the character, which hadn't really been possible before.

But like someone above me said ESO doesn't tend to get those kinds of massive re-designs for a profession so it's highly unlikely that will happen here.

Guild Wars had a LOT of skills to choose from. That actually had the effect of making me more focused on a class; an Elementalist could do anything, so I felt little need to play much with other classes for very long, except when I dabbled in Warrior. (I generally prefer casters to physical-combat characters, but I usually make one exception per MMO.)

Even better, they had NPCs companions that you could build with PC skills. So when minion master necromancers became less fun to play, I took a minion master "Hero" around with me, and let the software play him for me. :) This worked great, because the worst thing about minion master was the constant healing of the minions, and the smartest thing about the AI was how it healed.

    Cast-time defense is not fun.
Sorcerers without shields are not fun.
    So no.

To be clear, I've always had a broad spectrum of alts used for crafting and mule inventories. So from time to time one of them gets converted into a combat character.

My original overland main was a sorcerer.
Then when new overland content came out I played it with whoever most needed some skill points.
Now I've decided that overland content is simply more fun with my thief character, and he's my new overland main.

My strong criticisms of cast-time shields are all about PvE endgame instances, since shields aren't needed overland (except against world bosses, I guess), and I don't care about PvP.

    Ill sorc in pvp.

Ill become an anti stamina build...

Probably streaking and having the coolest stamina poisons with defile.

It seems to me...with the glut of stam builds...everybody will have to stack stam resist and build for stam combat.

Yes. I don't use shields anyway.

I've parked my sorc for the moment though, not because of these changes but because I got a bit bored with it. In a lot of PvE I found things a bit too easy. I found I was soloing group content at CP200. Fair enough there is a lot I couldn't beat alone (kept getting slaughtered in BGs, but haven't laughed so much in ages), but I've decided to start a new character anyway.

I can always pick up my sorc again later. If it's not playable then I'll start another, I've got plenty of character slots and, at the end of the day, it's only a game.

My sorc was a healer, the amount of times a last second ward saved my ass is too many to count. I don't really fancy running pets either. PVP is a no-no unless I convert to stam. I only really wanted to heal on him anyway.
He's a high level in a few crafts so will be relegated to crafter at best. Looks like I'll have to level a Templar to satisfy my healing needs or unretire my Warden, which had to work twice as hard as a Temp to get the same result anyway.

Really happy it’s 50 50 Sorcs are already easy to kill and now it will be so much ap, cause incap takes less than a second. Thank ZOS.
Sorcerna, proud beta sorc. RIP April 2014 to May 31 2016 DArk Brotherhood. Out of retirement for negates and encases. Sorcerna will be going back into retirement to be my main crafter Fall 2018. Because an 8 k shield is f ing useless. Died because of baddies on the forum. Too much qq too little pew pew. 16 AD 2 DC. 0 EP cause they bad, CP 2300 plus 18 level 50 toons. NA, PC, Grey Host#SORCLIVESMATTER actually they don’t or they wouldn’t keep getting nerfed constantly.

I'll play it a little bit, but I doubt it'd be too much. Not so much expecting sorc to be "dead" per se, as much as hating the horrid animation and the now more sluggish combat of the sorc.

Probably not. I'm not sure I'll even stick around. My initial PTS testing isn't favourable for the me staying and paying option. I'll wait the PTS cycle and give live a fair chance though. If things don't feel right then it's decision time.
