Letter for new players. Why I don't recommend to play this game. One year experience.

I don't have close friends or static group and that's all. I looked for guild on this forum, found 5 guilds. Everyday tried to ask in guild chats about vet trials. (Both guilds are 480-500 ppl).
And I'm getting zero invites. Sometimes becuse of pet sroc, sometimes because of static groups, rest time when I'm asked noone answer simple.
Well how many guilds I must to change to get single invite to HoF for example.

Now I see. The problem is quite simple: you are asking for "vet trials guild" which usually means: a) you are looking for highly competitive guild b) you want to participate in the most recent trials
These guilds by default elitist, because it is a competitive scene which must be selective. No wonder they refuse.

Try to look for social guilds with active trials participation. Usually it means they do Craglorn trials, where you hone your skills and find people, who are really good in PVE (often there are a few, without them no guild can do trials on a regular basis) and try to get in better guilds through these people and your own skill.

And if you want to do vHoF with pet sorc build... Well, I doubt it would be an easy task for you. Do it step by step. Start in casual guilds and normal trial runs. Advance to more professional guilds via connections with players who know what they are doing and when you showed your capabilities to them

No. I'm sure it is, But it dosen't mean we must sit and accept aggressive cycling nerf practice, how do you think?
I'm talking about cahnges, alternatives instead of nerfing just at all, no more.

Agreed. Nerfing is just lazy implementation and maintenance.

I, for one, have hit a wall with the current patch, and with these supposed changes in the next one, I really feel like that wall got taller, and TBH the game as it stands now is not enjoyable for me. It used to be, but now I'm just bored with getting my ass handed to me, or not being able to complete certain content. Every single DLC vet dungeon since Horns of the Reach is a complete train wreck for me, having quit every one due to overwhelming mechanics, and garbage character skills. I can't get into vet trials because most of the better players who run trail raids won't invite me to run trials because they've come up with some elusive standard for being eligible for this content (bring us a trial queue PLEASE!!!!). VMA I've run for 2 years and still can't complete round 4 boss. VDSA is a mix of bad pugging, elitists booting me halfway thru, and just poor teamwork mechanics. I've never completed that either. Cyrodiil, for me, is 8 hours of horse simulator, and 2 minutes of that 8 hours of being melted (lengthy sparring is not even a factor there). Battlegrounds? Forget it!

If nerfing works, why are they still nerfing things? ZOS has basically expressed to me through nerfing, that they are not concerned with making content enjoyable, but more difficult, and unattainable even.

This game has a tendancy to make drastic changes and not adress them for months at a time.

These kind of changes only work if they are consistant and active. As opposed to blizzard which releases balance changes weekly, until things are in a good place, this game refuses to until every six to three months.

It doesn't work. Know that whatever class you get will be drastically changed a few months down the line, sometimes entire playstyles are invalidated.

The day mine is, I leave. And I have no doubt it'll come eventually.

It's funny that you, a petsorc, can't do any endgame stuff, but me, a petsorc, has completed almost everything in the game, with another petsorc. I've done every dungeon in the game on vet, and a few trials too. If you can't find an amicable guild to run content with, thats on you, and you alone.

That's mean you got luck with finding right group. Yes I can be wrong, but It's my part of expirience, and some other guys with I talked about this problems. And that was just a part of my thoughts, not general.

Nope, it means i joined a guild and made friends. I don't pug groups. How would someone pug vMoS or vMK? Absolutely unbearable. I only pug dungeons when i need to farm something.

First I respect PVP players, but last updates, pve zones seems make this game more PVE based.

So I'm writing this to players who will focus on PVE.

Last days I found that there is a thing which is more worse than "pay to win".
It's a "nerf" (or you prefer to call it "balance changing")
So why I don't recommend this game.

When you will pick some class and enjoy game all will be good. Until "next update". The most players who play this game genre know what I mean "enjoy". It's gameplay, combat, some skills. sets etc.

But there is a PVP, and class which you choosed will kill some players, they will come to forum and will cry about it. In the next update you will get nerf. It will be cycling infinity process each a few months. Some pathces you maybe will be safe, but I can sure you sooner or later they will nerf some skills, sets, playstyle which you enjoy.

Funny thing that if you like casual playstyle this nerfs will hurt you too.

I'm not blaming pvp but fact is it works like this now. Yes there are a lot other factors (some devs could like only once class, some thing can be OP for real etc) but the main reason is PVP and cycling changing.

Also both PVP and PVE have toxic community.
Which is why I'm not surprised about asking gor nerfs.

When I first time entered PVP I got keep defence, we failed, I even didn't know how to place ballista. When enemies took keep they killed me and I got whisper from...guy who killed me with text like:

"hello b****s*** m* d*** go s**** to pve f***** scrub..." and more more also he standed on my character body and pressed CTRL for like 2-3 minutes

For 3-4 months in PVP I got a lot of this and saw terrible things, so I still believe it's a main reason which ruin PVE and game.
Sad that devs don't want to make separate skills for both PVP and PVE, it's really easy solution.

And one thing I don't understand is who are those who cries about OP some class. Like for 4 last monthes in VIVEC EU PC and battlegrounds I played as sorc. I'm casual player with own build, so ~ 70% of time I got killed and only 30% could kill. I killed casuals player and they killed me. It sounds fair. When I faced with good players I didn't have chance, it's ok.

But I'm about zerling, because on VIVEC 100% time I saw (prime, night, morning) all fight it's like when 20+ people kill single man, or 10 people kill 2 man, or premade guild group in discord kill pugs farming AP. In battlegrounds I saw 70% players was stamina and they didn't have problems with sorcs btw.
Vivec also for my feeling have more stamina players then magicka, and count of snipers/heavy armor stamina players is MORE then rest.

So where were those people which were killed from super OP sorcs? I don't know really. It's make me crazy. Like battlegrounds are no cp and shields are weaker there so I want to say that I'm sure the major part of playerbase is causals and they can't be sad about sorc is OP, Because as I said casual players killed me 70% of time, because it's hard to fight with any stamina player, which is just outrun your resources and kill with ez. So thing are even worse then if small group of toxic trolls can nerf any what they want.

For PVE. If you picked wrong class or like own gameplay you won't get high endgame content. If you have static group maybe you have chance otherwise no.
For example noone wants pet sorcs in vet trials now and after nerf it will be joke.
Also PVE elitist toxic toom but I think it's enough.

So I reccomend new players think through and if you're ready to handle infinity nerfs and toxic community then yes.

Sounds a lot like destiny, the division, and dozen other games I play ...

Only difference I actually feel like ESO has real content and real end game compared to the others, so that being said I whole heartedly recommend you do play it ...

Day one player here fully endorsing ESO

After reading the OP, I must be super lucky with randoms and joined some friendly, chill guilds. I've never seen the kind of behavior you're talking about on the scale you describe. At the very most, it might be once a week I run into some clown in a PUG who is the alpha and omega in his mind that blames everyone for his failures.

As for the OP complaint about not getting the high end game PVE content if you want to play solo, why did you buy this game? The end game is explicitly group content. Which is an odd complaint, after spending most of the post complaining about PVP play, which is with other players...

Base game is 10 dollars when on sale. I recommend anyone who is on the fence about getting, wait for a sale and try it for themselves. Don't like it, then it still costs less than it cost to go to the theaters and watch the Godzilla remake in 1998. If you do like it, then that 10 dollars is spread a long way.

You've played other online games right? Nerfs and Changes like these are common place.

I haven't. Unless you count multiplayer Doom in 1994.

But thanks for legitimising the practice. I'll be sure not to make the same mistake again.

This was my very first MMO (started way back in Beta) and for the first year I had no idea what I was doing. I'm not even going to go into the details but I was happily oblivious to so many things and just wandered around having the best time anyways. My builds were crap, I died all over the place (only did PvE back then too), but I was on this grand adventure with so many things to do and see. After some time I started paying attention to the forums and watching Twitch and started to really learn about properly building my characters and how to run them in a way that was not resulting in me dying all over the place.

I've only been doing PvP for a little over a year and I still feel relatively new to the whole thing. I do ok, but I think I still die more than I should. Doesn't really bother me if I die though. I'm still out there having fun and waiting for the next big fight or long keep defense.

I have not found the environment I play in to be incredibly toxic. In fact I have mostly run into very nice people. Sure, occasionally I get someone who JUST HAS to whisper me some nonsense or they will implode, but no one has been over the top in the gigantic jerk department. Most people can still be reasoned with. And really, anyone who is being a super jerk, that says more about the jerk than it does about the person they are being crappy to. (I'm sure that very mom statement right there just made some of you groan lol)

I have no interest in end game PvE at this point. I cannot commit to the planning of such things and promising I can do a thing at a certain time. Which is fine. Someday I'll knock all that content out. I also don't care about chasing all the best gear every 3 months. Who has that kind of time? I'd rather be off having fun than running the same dungeon for the billionth time.

My point in all of this is people are going to have a wide variety of experiences. I'm sorry that you have run into some problems and I hope that you find your people to run the content you want to run. And I hope that other people are having fun playing the content they prefer as well.

My one year experience is quite different.

Came from nearly 14 years with wow. Started playin ESO May 2017. Got hooked pretty quick.
I play one of each class. Absolutely love the game. I'm not a min/max edgy competitive player.
I read Alcast's builds but don't copy them as I'm not that type of player nor strive to be but they are helpful.
I've done pvp and, just like pvp in wow, when you're new you're dead more than you are alive cause it takes time to learn pvp.

Jury is still out imo.. I'm completely solo pve, no dungeons or pvp ever.. I'm waiting to see what happens patch wise to the over world content with all these nerfs..

I have 8 characters of all classes at cp 376 and they are all magicka, my issue is being Aussie my ping times are over 300 so if these nerfs make the game even more unplayable pve wise i'll move on..

Its not fun to be killed 24/7 by pvp nerfs.. i'll stop ESO+ then i'll take a break for a few years, my last ESO break was 4 years.

Yes i'm a casual customer but casual is what uses the crown store..

This, also an new player does not play the same game as someone who has played if for years. he is way more causal.
And pvp in cyrodil is very inclusive, you always want more bodies who can absorb snipes :)
No ESO is far from the best competitive pvp game, its just part of it and the random chaos of it is fun.

Just did some pvp last days for farming transmute geodes. Was in on my DK who don't have an real build, on AD and we was down to two keeps. DC and EP was both inside the keep and was fighting each other, this one provided general artillery support. Most of us left the keep but I just needed a few more AP for the 50 crystal geode so I stayed, then they left they repaired the gate to the enemy tried to break the gate from the inside so they could get reinforcement and I did counter battery. Finally its was just one faction left so they went for the gate, some more kills with oil but they was in, for some reason I could not pack down siege equipment before running, still it was awesome.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
