Would you think this could be a good idea if shields became unusable ?

If shields become totally unusable..would you like for streak to give 2sec immunity just like roll dodge ? For sorcerer to get active defense instead of passive defense ?

nobody said they become unusable. Defile got duration nerfed and is very usable still. Adjusting something, even if it means lowering it, doesn't mean it becomes unusable.

I highly doubt a core part of gameplay for magicka will become utterly useless. They said they are working on counterplay. People will need to adjust builds and playstyle. In the end shields will still be a defensive option and save lives in the hands of good players.

Unless ZOS will completely change Sorcerer's passive and active healing/defensive abilities and Light Armor skill line, removing the shields will ruin the Sorcerer class in both PVP and PVE.
ZOS has hinted in Update 20 Preview that they will improve Light armor passives, so maybe this is the direction the game is taking.

Yeah but if they become critable I don’t think they will be worth slotting at all lol. Cause every good player knows how to break a shield.

Why run shield with it's added counter play when you can just dodge or block?

Big IF it gets to that point, Zenimax will need to do something for all magicka builds not just sorc. Right now everything is speculative. We should probably wait to have in-depth discutions on mechanics changes until we actually know what is happening.

On Sotha, I already don't bother even slotting shields. When you're zerged by 10 or more EP as a lone magsorc, a piddly shield does nothing to stave off the inevitable. And if the numbers are more even, I'd rather use hurricane than streak for the general mobility, the passive damage output if they're still following me, and the extra resistance.

    Indeed.
The wait will end tomorrow when we will finally be able to read the natch potes :)

Some brief information about balance changes were posted and people already losing their minds...
I would suggest to wait for the PTS patch notes.

I was going to write an ironic response, but... maybe that´s not the best idea. So:

No, shields are still strong, will in all likelihood still be strong after counterplay, and sorcs absolutely do not need a boost.

I´ve at least dabbled in all classes, and it kind of amazes me how people think sorcs are weak (absolute minmax endgame voicechat groups nonewithstanding).

Sorcs have a spammable escape that doubles as a gap closer and a stun. And you want this to be improved!?! Great, now I am stunned and can´t hit back because of immunity.. B) They have great passives. They basically have 2 passive excutes (!). They have a skill that gives major expedition, major brutality, self heal and detection in one package.

If you play sorc and think it is weak or is going to be 'destroyed' by any change, you need to play other classes and get some perspective. And not nightblades, please.

Lol my magplar is already so much tankier and I could say more mobile with swift than my sorcerer imagine if sorc are ok without shields according to you. And yes shield sucks and are a pain to reapply makes the class really boring. Hell even my magden in a duo is so much stronger than my sorc way more tanky and way more healing. Sorc playstyle is keyboard smashing and really stressfull if you don’t pay attention to your shield for like 1sec. I guess it’s not the class for me anymore even tough it’s my main class. I can survive a zerg chasing me way more with my magden or templar.
